Damn bumper gap! One of the reasons I hate my car. Well there's a bit, but I love the power behind my car. Nice review, how old is the car for you? You should do a long term review as well.
The exact car I want! Just bought a 2005 mustang gt but thats only a nice day, summer car. Hopefully next year i can get this as a daily driver same color and everything... maybe the only thing I would change is adding the larger rear spoiler... I am usually not a fan of big spoilers on cars but I think it makes it stand out more... Beautiful car man... I am extremely jealous!
@eouellette18 I like the rear wing too......it looks good but honestly they are annoying as fuck. A friend of mine has an ss supercharged with the big rear wing and it literally sits right in the middle of the rear view mirror and it just pisses me off to no end really. I like to be able to see out all of my mirrors clearly so i know whats behind me. its bad enough these cars have wicked blind spots without having that wing blocking part of your rear view.
@godsephro Well my dad got a new 2010 civic SI and i have a cobalt SS turbo so i will give you my TRULY unbiased opinion. Honda gets worse gas milage due to its close ratio gear box, while the honda has a much nicer gauge set up and comes with that optional in dash GPS and such outside that i wont say that the interior is THAT much nicer. I like the looks of my seats much better the the honda's. it really more or less depends on what you want the car for
@godsephro I mean the honda and the cobalt's in town economy wont be that much of a difference it just really depends on what you want to do with it. If your gonna be out screwing around the cobalt will be the best. I find it is a LOT more fun to drive then the civic. The civic is EASIER to drive and by that i mean it shifts tons smoother and the clutch isnt as stiff but hey less hp and torque means smoother transmission and less robust clutch
@godsephro Like i said all around the cobalt is much much more fun to drive. i cant comment on the honda's winter driving ability since he got it this summer. The cobalt once you get some decent all season tires or snow tires will be phenominal what with the ECS and TCS mine never let loose and never made me feel afraid to be driving. after 40K miles i have not had any major issues with my car but honda does have the better REP for having an excellent built car
@Raverrabbit1 I have seen 16 of the new si hondas go in for head gaskets and a ton more for valve train issues. The hondas are not well built. they just last long when grandmas and hippies drive them
@godsephro The best advice i can give you is to go out and test drive the two. i cant speak for everyone since everyone has their own opinions but my PERSONAL opinion is that the cobalt is the clear cut choice for overall sheer joy to drive. the civic in all honesty belongs in that category with the cobalt Sport, and tiburon GT, mitsi eclipse. They are all fun to drive but comparing any one of them to the ss turbo is pretty stuipd. For more opinions id watch the motor trend bang for buck vid
@Raverrabbit1 is that the one where he does a review on the ex trim civic? if so I already seen it, but if not just leave me a link with the h tt p taken out; along with the dot com...you gotta put (dot) com or some bs.
@godsephro No the comparison was between the civic SI as well as other cars but do a search on youtube for
Sport compact car comparison. It should be right at the top of the page .....the ending of the comparison really pissed me off and youll see why though =P
@Raverrabbit1 haha I'm assuming you are talking about the 3 part motor trend videos....the GTI being the winner...ya after all they said about how if the SS, I was thinking that if the SS was a guy, motor tend would drop to their knees and start blowing away...I mean every word out of that guys mouth was OMG SS FTW ya know...haha wow
@Raverrabbit1 don't tug on that airbox too much... i had an engine light issue for awhile, couldn't figure it out...dealership gave me problems about the k&N drop in supposedly tainting the MAF... the entire time.. the wires connecting to the sensor clip had become loose and just need a new clip... either from moving things around it happened or one theory is that they just made the wires a bit too short so under acceleration, hard acceleration, the air box tugs on the sensor between shifts
@godsephro the honda si sucks, the k20 in it is setup for all motor and cant handle alot of boost. the ecotec on the other hand in the cobalt can. Buy the cobalt. will be much happier with a much faster car from the factory.
Im taking your advice and getting the SS Turbo the ss turbo will make a better DD and is better on gas mileage then the s2000 im waiting on a good deal on a used to come across the table now i saw one at the local ford dealership that was a trade 15k miles $15,995 but it was black i dont want a black one only red silver or white hopefully i can pick one up after i get outta basic training in july
@mr2drifking Well ok im not going to knock the S2000. However it will be slightly slower then the cobalt and doesnt handle quite as well but this also depends on if your buying brand new s2000 or a used one from another year since they tend to differ from year to year but looking at the brand new one yeah. the cobalt will be faster and more nimble, it will have more space for people/ crap that you want to haul around. the S2000 will be more sporty and RWD so more fun on wet roads and snow.
@Raverrabbit1 Granted your s2000 actually ever see's snow. The s2000 will be more of a sporty car and will probably be more expensive in the long run because of insurance and overall price of the car. its hard saying which one will last longer =P. But yeah the s2000 would be a good choice if you want a drop top to score chicks. But if your just out to blow peoples doors off get the cobalt.
@indianfightclub I believe GM makes turbocharger kits for the 2.2 liter cobalt cars however i do not believe it will be as powerfull as the SS turbo for transmission reasons. the stock transmissions are not made to handle the kind of power the SS turbo puts down so you will most likely go from like 144 HP to like 200 ish......maybe.....
@sc62391 no the recirculator lets the exhaust gas pass by the turbine without spooling the turbo to keep it from boosting while the engine is not under load and pipes it back into the exhaust pipe. a diverter valve is basically a blow off valve....instead of venting its built pressure back into the exhaust it releases it into the atmosphere both do virtually the same thing its just one is more "Friendly" to the atmosphere and the other one makes a nice loud noise
I have an 2.2L base model now. It's an '05 and I'm looking into an SS in the spring. I want the newer turbo, but a supercharged would be nice too. What would you prefer? I am leaning more toward the turbo because of the 265 hp and it's newer and the newer features like no-lift-shift etc.
SS turbo hands down and im not being biased either. The cobalt turbo got reworked so much more then the supercharged. its just the supercharged will be cheaper now so it only depends on your funding really but if you have the money get the SS turbo and if you really have to know all the fine details and pro/cons on both vehicles ask me and ill do a quick comparison for you
@MGK1992 I really dont think they changed much at all.......i think the only changes that were made between 05 and 07 was the stereo setup and between 06 and 07 they started to offer the stage 2 kit as a factory option so you didnt have to buy the kit for it later on you could order it factory with the stage 2 kit already installed
No when i first picked up the car the guy at the dealership told me i had dual stage injectors and when i asked him what that meant he said they have two stages HIGH flow and LOW flow and dont confuse this with just being open longer or shorter it has two sets of poppets inside a bigger one with a smaller one inside to control flow without having to control injector timing. This has something to do with the Direct injection system as well.
thanks for posting this, i'm very interestin in acquiring an SS in the next few days and this saves me a trip to the dealer to check out certain details. Does anyone know if the programmable display that replaces the A-pillar boost gauge is an easy after market add-on or is it worth getting as a standard option? TIA!
The new display will replace the old one. If you want it to just display the boost level you can do that however you can also toggle through the other screens. Im not sure what the other screens display for sure but i would imagine the would show fuel consumption as well as other elements the CPU might keep track of. I am also looking at a 08-09 'balt SS for the end of next summer. If i had a clunker i would have been able to get it sooner. but a car with 36 MPG doesnt Qualify :(
im in the same boat as you and from what ive gathered so far on that topic is that it is very involved, expensive, and can't be warrantied.. i've also read that it is not possible.. either way there are better options out there.. i.e. dashdaq and dashhawk
Im not sure the brembo's from a TC will fit a SC. The whole front end suspension is different. The steering knuckles on the TC are bigger so i dont think the caliper bolts will line up since they are bigger then the ones on the SC. Problem with that being you cant get new TC knuckles because the half shafts are bigger as well. And nah the recaro seats were ok but way to stiff making for an uncomfortable long distance ride and besides that the only noticable difference is the recaro embrodery
well if that is true then gay, and the recaro's are much diff feel then the ss seats they hold you in a lot better then the new ones, but i will have to get some willwood berakes instead
i just got my black cobalt ss tc this past saturday. ive heard that this car doesnt have a bov..is this true? or what does it have? i def hear something after i take my foot off the gas.
Tell you what....you wanna hear what the car's wastegate sounds like. Crack your airfilter box open and take a spin around the block (unless you live on a dirt road you should be ok) I put a different air filter on my car (took the airbox out and put a cone air filter on ) and let me tell you that really opened this car up and now the turbo's wastegate is WAY loud!!!
Oh I see. I still think the cobalt looks really nice. I wanted to get one but they are little expensive I even saw some used ones at carmax and still I wasnt convinced with the price plus they had alot of miles already. But Ill sure get one if I had the money. I got me a focus zx3 and I runs smooth. I like it and so far Im adding stuff to it little by little. rims, head lights, neons etc. I hope you upload more videos of your cobalt bro ill be checking to see if you got any updates.
Hell no. I love the sound of the exhaust the way it is.....no fart cannon for me....perfect ossilation at low RPM's so you dont get that deep growl all the time on the highway but when you open it up it sounds perfect not ricey but nice n throaty and not over the top so you can hear it 3 miles away. No stickers, no lowering kits, nada.....gonna look bone stock till the day it hits the junk yard (which i hope that day never comes).
No actually the large spoiler was an option on this model. I don't really like the big spoiler it cuts the rear view in half and makes it hard to tell who's behind you. Plus that it actually lowers the overall top speed of the car where as the ss/tc with the big spoiler's top speed is 155 and mine with the low deck lid spoiler is around 170 due to less drag from the wing.
I have to admit. I really do like the sedate styling of the new SS/TC. It packs a lot of punch but isnt near as flamboyant as say the SRT-4 or even the EVO series Mitsubishi's. I'm hoping to turbocharge my Colorado with a HahnRacecraft kit and I want to take a Q or two from GM and tuck everything away and make it look plane Jane. Hope you plan on doing some tasteful mods because you've got quite a car.
they dont have a blowoff valve but an reciculatrice valve!! it just doesnt sound as much as an SRT-4 BOV!! I have an 08 turbo ss and i changed my stock intake for an injen intake which make my BOV sound 10x more! Plus, i tuned this car to 20psi : 320hp so my BOV sound so much that skirt on chix walking on the street pop up!
They're sweet cars dude, I drove a few of the turbocharged, and to me it's like a whole different experience. I have a 06 Supercharged that I love, but the TC's feel much sturdier. Plus the No Lift Shift, and the Launch Control is great. Have fun with it man.
I'm 17 and I'm looking for a first car, And I love muscle, But for some reason the Cobalt appeals to me. It's a good priced car, and seems easy to maintain, it's Chevy, and with a GM tune kit, it makes upward 300HP, so it's good on power. Do you recommend it as a first car? Also, I plan on replacing the Turbo, blow off valves, waste gate and intercooler with an aftermarket set and adding cold air intake, exhaust system and that tune up, Which I hope to be at around 450HP+. Should I?
Why ruin a 100,000 mile warranty with all that stuff? Plus why do you honestly need 450 HP? Youll just get yourself into trouble big time if you were anything like i was and like 90% of the other kids i knew when i was 17. The only things you would really need to upgrade would be the turbo (maybe), exhaust and intake. But i don't know if that would screw with the No lift shift feature or not. The intercooler is already friggin huge.
And i know i'm probably gonna sound like a douche for saying this but it's true and i know from experience but for younger kids such as yourself i wouldn't reccomend this as a first car. You should probably get something less powerfull till you learn how to drive first. I knew plenty of kids in highschool who were rolling on to much power in thier first cars and either had accidents or to many tickets. And being as young as you are insurance in this car will be insane. It is for me and im 24
I have plenty of driving experience, I drag race and I do dirty rally. I want power so I can get into doing quarter mile's with a car(My own) and have something for the street aswell.
Raverrabbit is right man, your insurance is gonna be through the roof! I'm married, 24 perfect record with my 2006 SS/SC, and my insurance is double to my wife's.
you planning on doing anymore videos cause im prob be getting one of them and i wont to put a different intake maybe a k&n but idk you seem to know alot so you tell me wat intake should i get 4 it if i get one
Well see there are two problems with getting an intake kit for this car. 1) is that its not going to give you much HP since the intercooler is going to cool the air much more effiecently then the intake will.
2) They are fucking too expensive like 600 bux for a decent kit.
i actually just took out the filter box and threw in a cone airfilter cost me bout 30 dollars and i still cant figure out why but it gave me 18 total PSI ....like it just opened its breathing ability up more.
The other thing was that after i put the filter in i can hear the wastegate blowing off quite loudly now so that too was a plus so now people cant tell me that oh my car is supercharged cuz now they can hear the turbo spool and blow off!
Well the LS1 is a bigger engine and i bet most of the money for your intake and throttle body was put into the throttle body. To me though 600 dollars is a bit much for some plastic shit and a cone airfilter. I don't care what kind of R&D went into making it....its still outrageous. I can build one for my car with ORiley's build your own intake kits for a fraction of the price and in fact i did and it only cost me 50 bux and i got 3 xtra LBS of boost because of it.
Not to be a dick or anything but i think you got ripped off unless its like a stainless steel intake kit then i might be able to understand but even still you could buy some 3" or bigger exhaust piping and have it bent the way you want it for cheaper then that. All you would have to do is take a look at the kit you WANT to buy and just make something that looks similar and i can garantee you that it will run just as good.
when it comes to intake systems and by intake system i mean just a (Cold air intake) I hope i didnt confuse you when i said intake system because thats what i really meant was 600 dollars for a 3 foot piece of plastic and a cone air filter not a bigger throttle body or intake manifold or anything else....just the plastic crap and the filter. When it comes to that crap i think 90% of people get ripped off. But most people don't realize that they can do it themselves for much cheaper.
well ya but my intake is plastic too for the intake itself its 800 so ya the tb is a big chunk but for a plastic intake it really sux but its good for 21 rwhp which is decent!
Im sorry but i would take the ss cobalt supercharged body style any, and plus with my stage 3 kit in there, i would smoke that turbo like i smoke the good stuff
Lol you apparently smoke to much then since there is no change in the body style other then the grill up front and the wheels and no even with a stage 3 there's no way you could be an SS turbo. They simply achive max torque to fast. Plus that wed still have our ac unit running
why does it matter how big the engine is???...and also im pretty sure this cant beat a skyline or a silvia which are by nissan for the slow people out there
Youd have to be more specific when you say skyline.....there are sooooo many different models of that car it boggles the mind. The r34 had 4 different models alone from the 2.0 to the 2.6 liter model all of which were inline 6 cyl. and i HIGHLY doubt that even the highest end STOCK silvia could touch this car in the quarter. its only a hair faster to 60 MPH but looses its ass in the long run due to low torque power (205 Ftlb vs. Cobalts 263.) Which it does in almost 15 seconds vs cobalts 14
you got a point about the silvia but im pretty sure the skyline is one of the untouched street cars right now...well at least the ones that are here legally via motorex
The only problem now is the fact that comparing the price you will pay for a skyline vs a cobalt SS/tc is like...outfuckingrageous. Your probably going to pay just as much for a REAL skyline (in decent running shape and decent body) as the nissan GTR which is what you might as well get since parts will be easier to get without having to break and ship parts from japan just to fix stupid stuff like brake pads and air filters they don't sell in parts stores here.
I think what ebonyarko meant by whats the deal with all these japanese cars was things like civic's, eclipse's, sentra's and whatnot. Jap american cars. Real japanese cars (The ones you cant get over here without paying their weight in gold) are king as much as i hate to say it. Real lancers, subarus, mitsi's and so forth are MUCH MUCH better if you buy them over there vs here. It would be like us getting watered down version of coke or pepsi vs them having the real full flavored stuff
Ok this is a very touchy topic for a lot of people who don't know much about car's. GM's high rise spoiler is mainly for looks but there is a reason to put a spoiler like that on a FWD car and any car to be frank. It doesn't matter if its RWD AWD or FWD. The fact is that when your going fast this creates lift because the air moving over your car is moving faster then the air going under it creating lower pressure on top much like the wing of a plane
And when you plan on doing high speed cornering the last thing you need is your car's ass to be lifting up and taking weight off the rear tires when your going around a corner or slight curve. That can be dangerous since the rear end of a car is much lighter then the front which has the engine and receives most of the downpressure from the wind but when it goes up over the top of the car it tends to run off the roof instead of down over the rear
So they put a wing that sits at a downward angle to catch wind and force the rear end of a car downward to keep weight on the tires. The problem with this is.....most of the rice out there can't go fast enough to create the kind of downforce that a wing needs to be functional. Most people put thoes on simply for looks to make it look like a real race car that's capable of 140+ MPH which is roughly the speed at which most wings start to become functional
This also creates more drag on the car which can limit overall top speed as such with my car. The cobalt SS t/c with a high rise wing is only capable of going 156 MPH because of the drag that the high rise spoiler creates. Mine however is capable of 170 MPH because i don't have the extra drag on the back of my car. This makes it more aerodynamic but also more dangerous if i was go to around a corner since my spoiler doesn't help much with rear downforce.
This is also why if you ever watch Formula 1 race cars they have a nosecone that has two wings on the front of the car to keep the front of the car down since the engine is in the back of the car. If you ever get the chance to see what happens to one of these cars when the front nosecone breaks and it looses its downforce in the front the car it will flip over and land on its top.
so idk he beat me fair and square i did the no lift shift ran 93 octane just me in the car straight rode, i got smoked... i never lost before except to a svt cobra and the f150
i can boost 17 pds pretty easy in competition mode. Anyways my friend has an 05 neon srt4 stage 2 when i race him from a dig or a rolling start at any speed i beat him by about 2 car lengths, so one day this kid wanted to race me in his f150 lightning he said it was a stock v8 supercharged with a K&n we did a rolling start from 20mph and he beat me pretty good, i did look at the 0-60 for both vehicles the lightning is 5.2 secs and my car is like 5.4
yeah my cobalt ss is an 09 turbocharged, i know everything about this car all i have done to it is GM air intake, gm catback exhaust Performance, and the honed headers. Its fast very fast i smoked alot of cars with it
Sorry, this doesn't sound right. The lightning is fast, with a supercharged V8, but unless he had nitrous, the turbo cobalt should beat it. Is yours not the turbo? Check the official Quarter mile times of both vehicles.
Yep. Nothin' faster, around the ring. Straight line, I'd have to put my money on the koennegsegg. But it's true, about the cobalt. Kinda puts things into perspective. Now I buy for looks, too. So cobalt for the family, genesis for me and my wife to race and kit-up. Trying to go to work for hyundai as a designer/mktng mgr. We'll see. I'm retired, now a farmer, and it is good. Live near the 'grove, so racing is ON every weekend. Jeez, weekdays, too. Retirement is neat. I recommend it!
I have an 09 cobalt ss now with 15,000 miles on it i live in pa i do alot of driving, anyways my friend has a 05 neon srt4 stage 2, when we do a 20mph roll and a 40mph roll i beat him by 4 car lengths, the neon is a nice car i wouldnt mind a new one back in 2005 but an 08 or 09 ss is amazing, i had mine up to 155mph it handles amazing! but already i had the shifter cable replaced and the rear stabilizer rebuilt. thats chevy for you.. oh well make sure you run 93 octane in these cars!
How can you like a car like the neon srt4 so much? they had nothing but motor.....thats all you were paying for.....what the hell else was so special about the neon as to set it even close on the same pedistal as the cobalt .......what special features did it have? NOTHING JUST A LOT OF HP IN A TINY CAR THATS ALL IT WAS!!!
Thats what bugs me about people like you. You place to much love and affection towards something that isnt even special. OMG IT GOES FAST!!! If you wanna go fast there is a better way to do it then a SRT4 its called a crotch rocket.........you want something that can go fast, handles like a dream and stops on a dime ......get a cobalt
You tards sit here and bad mouth a superior car and fight tooth and nail and get no where and waste your breath trying to convince people that a car that has been discontinued due to its bad track record and lack of refinement is better then something that has much better features, performance and looks and then you call people like me who are really only trying to show people the new car but you have the nerve to come here and bash my car just because you can and then you call me a moron
Look at the statistics.......look at the data!!! Every website that would ever compare the two stock for stock would point out the cobalt as the victor here. Slolom, skid pads, cornering ability, track times, 0-60 and quarter mile are all faster in a cobalt so fuc**** keep telling me i'm wrong because YOU SAY THE SRT IS FASTER AND THE DATA IS LYING?
Ok answer me this........aside from the general look of the two cars. would you rather buy one thats only fast in a straight line or would you rather buy one thats fast in a line, through corners and has better brakes?........ok come on now....dont even lie to me and say the first one otherwise you are a complete idiot
you are the bias one because you own the piece of crap, if you owned an 05 srt-4 with low milage and wasn't beaten on and you took good care of it, youd know the potential of those vehicles, you can also make them look really nice for a lousy 2 grand
Lol i have a friend that owns one or rather had one and it was a piece and he bought it brand new. and what the hell is the point of having a performance car if you cant beat on it without breaking it all the time. and yes cavaliers did suck but they were better then neon's and cobalts were much better because of the introduction of the ecotec motor over the chevy 2.2 liter
NO its not bias its common sense and knowledge that would show if everyone gets rid of them........theres a reason for it ......and knowing what those reasons are from working on them, driving them, and hearing what others have to say is what dictates my opinion of them. I have had 2 cobalt SS's and i cant say i regret buying either of them since neither of them ever had any major problems like the SRT did
bulletproof! lol...yeah, cavaliers were known as "bulletproof"....and i have a truck, im not into your little american ricers so much, i just got respect for the srt line-up, if i wanted thatd piece of crap id sell my truck and buy one
Lol not really not as bad as neon's were.....the ecotec engine is damn near bullet proof thoes things will run for hundreds of thousands......not just thousands like neon's.....dude face it.....neon's just suck and its a pity your so biased towards such a piece of shit that youll call a good car bad because you cant face the fact that something better came along and you cant have one.
ive had two and the only problembs i had with mine is that the tumblers messed up in my ignintion cylinder...but then hey the same thing happened to my step dads lexus...guess thats a peice of shit too?
Actually i had the ignition tumbler in my 06 cobalt ss fail on me too. The dealer told me that newer tumblers are more prone to fail because they have too many pins and when people have tons of keys hanging from their keychains that it puts to much stress on the pins and causes them to bend when they get jostled around. So now i keep only my car key and the FOB on my keychain and my other key's seperate. But its also true that all thoes keys scratch the piss out of the steering colomn
And it doesn't really matter if thats the only problem you had with your neon. They are still shit box cars with fast motors. Its a neon with a turbo......nothing more. with the cobalt there is so much more between a base model and an SS turbo not just a turbo, wing, and tires.......the srt is a joke you pay an additional 7 grand for a turbo and tires tell me thats not a rip off.
Hi,would you get more hps if you replaced the piping by aluminum piping and add a performance intake??just curious,i think the warranty would be failed!
I honestly don't think the piping would make much difference. Its more about look then the actual make of the intake. But an intake might give you a few ponies but i wouldnt suspect a lot.
well, ill tell ya one thing...my opinion is i dont like cobalts, they arent well liked where im from and are looked at as "girls cars" kinda like tiburons. people here hated the supercharged version and they hate the turbocharged version. they should have used to the 2.4 litre
LOL hardly......are you kidding me......dude neon's had the worst rep of like any compact car ever built. The cavalier sold way more and they lasted like 10 times longer
the dodge 2 liter DOHC motor was a joke and the 2.4 was worse.....head gaskets went after like100000 miles and the transmissions would crap after like 50k trust me ive had to replace many when i was working for dodge.
Having said that i have worked for dodge would show you that i know firsthand how unreliable dodge's car's are. They have the worst transmission track record because they didnt update their design in almost 20 years. They ran the same automatic and manual transmissions in the 80's dodge caravan's and duster/shadow's all the way into the 2000's
And thats why no one has an SRT4 anymore.......THEY SUCKED!! They were good for the first 50K and then fell apart thats why everyone got rid of em. They used to be all over the place here and now they are all gone save for like 4
And the only reason the srt4 is "respected" anymore is because they are well known.....theyve been around for years and have already established a dominance in the street racing world but now they have fallen to the wayside and been discontinued for being speeding death caskets.
Actually they arnt look it up man shit. And no it does not chevy made a 2.2 ecotec run like 8 second quarter miles ive never seen dodge do that with an srt4 and just because it has .4 more liters doesnt mean a damn thing and just because dodge had stage kits out quicker doesn't mean they did proper testing either since i know for a fact that a lot of srt4's with the stage 3 kits had to have major repairs done to the drivetrain because it tore it up.
The pro drag racing teams got only one shot at qualifying, but it was enough for Gary Gardella to put his Chevy Cobalt at the top of the Pro FWD class with a 7.12 second run. Chevy racer Marty Ladwig was in the second spot in Pro FWD, and Bryan Jimenez grabbed the same spot in the Hot Rod class. The Turbo Street class was able to squeeze in two qualifying rounds. Brian Ballard landed in the top spot, piloting his Cobalt to a run of 9.518 seconds at 152.90mph.
the bottom line is, the srt-4 was a well respected compact sports car, and there is no getting around the fact that its engine has more potential then that 2 litre. I'm not sure of exact numbers, but i bet in a straight line the ugly new caliber srt-4's are faster in a straight line then the cobalts
I never called it a TOY either.......its my CAR its not a toy ....i cant afford another one if this one gets wrecked so i don't treat i like a toy. And no the srt4's motor does not have more potential man look this shit up before you start running your mouth. Have you ever seen a 1600 HP SRT4 with a stock block? I sure havnt.
Damn bumper gap! One of the reasons I hate my car. Well there's a bit, but I love the power behind my car. Nice review, how old is the car for you? You should do a long term review as well.

@vahdyx Heh i already have one up check my channel for my 2 year review and im coming up on my 3rd year of ownership

I like to be able to see out all of my mirrors clearly so i know whats behind me. its bad enough these cars have wicked blind spots without having that wing blocking part of your rear view.

hey maybe you can help me..I'm wondering should I get a 09-10 Cobalt ss (turbo of course) or a Civic Si? money not an issue.
godsephro 1 year ago
@godsephro Well my dad got a new 2010 civic SI and i have a cobalt SS turbo so i will give you my TRULY unbiased opinion. Honda gets worse gas milage due to its close ratio gear box, while the honda has a much nicer gauge set up and comes with that optional in dash GPS and such outside that i wont say that the interior is THAT much nicer. I like the looks of my seats much better the the honda's. it really more or less depends on what you want the car for
Raverrabbit1 1 year ago
@godsephro I mean the honda and the cobalt's in town economy wont be that much of a difference it just really depends on what you want to do with it. If your gonna be out screwing around the cobalt will be the best. I find it is a LOT more fun to drive then the civic. The civic is EASIER to drive and by that i mean it shifts tons smoother and the clutch isnt as stiff but hey less hp and torque means smoother transmission and less robust clutch
Raverrabbit1 1 year ago
@godsephro Like i said all around the cobalt is much much more fun to drive. i cant comment on the honda's winter driving ability since he got it this summer. The cobalt once you get some decent all season tires or snow tires will be phenominal what with the ECS and TCS mine never let loose and never made me feel afraid to be driving. after 40K miles i have not had any major issues with my car but honda does have the better REP for having an excellent built car
Raverrabbit1 1 year ago
@Raverrabbit1 I have seen 16 of the new si hondas go in for head gaskets and a ton more for valve train issues. The hondas are not well built. they just last long when grandmas and hippies drive them
04ecocav 1 year ago
@godsephro The best advice i can give you is to go out and test drive the two. i cant speak for everyone since everyone has their own opinions but my PERSONAL opinion is that the cobalt is the clear cut choice for overall sheer joy to drive. the civic in all honesty belongs in that category with the cobalt Sport, and tiburon GT, mitsi eclipse. They are all fun to drive but comparing any one of them to the ss turbo is pretty stuipd. For more opinions id watch the motor trend bang for buck vid
Raverrabbit1 1 year ago
@Raverrabbit1 is that the one where he does a review on the ex trim civic? if so I already seen it, but if not just leave me a link with the h tt p taken out; along with the dot com...you gotta put (dot) com or some bs.
godsephro 1 year ago
@godsephro No the comparison was between the civic SI as well as other cars but do a search on youtube for
Sport compact car comparison. It should be right at the top of the page .....the ending of the comparison really pissed me off and youll see why though =P
Raverrabbit1 1 year ago
@Raverrabbit1 haha I'm assuming you are talking about the 3 part motor trend videos....the GTI being the winner...ya after all they said about how if the SS, I was thinking that if the SS was a guy, motor tend would drop to their knees and start blowing away...I mean every word out of that guys mouth was OMG SS FTW ya know...haha wow
godsephro 1 year ago
@Raverrabbit1 don't tug on that airbox too much... i had an engine light issue for awhile, couldn't figure it out...dealership gave me problems about the k&N drop in supposedly tainting the MAF... the entire time.. the wires connecting to the sensor clip had become loose and just need a new clip... either from moving things around it happened or one theory is that they just made the wires a bit too short so under acceleration, hard acceleration, the air box tugs on the sensor between shifts
silfocus84 1 year ago
@godsephro the honda si sucks, the k20 in it is setup for all motor and cant handle alot of boost. the ecotec on the other hand in the cobalt can. Buy the cobalt. will be much happier with a much faster car from the factory.

Im taking your advice and getting the SS Turbo
mr2drifking 1 year ago
I want one but im leaning towards the S2000 tho any opinions?
mr2drifking 1 year ago
@mr2drifking Well ok im not going to knock the S2000. However it will be slightly slower then the cobalt and doesnt handle quite as well but this also depends on if your buying brand new s2000 or a used one from another year since they tend to differ from year to year but looking at the brand new one yeah. the cobalt will be faster and more nimble, it will have more space for people/ crap that you want to haul around. the S2000 will be more sporty and RWD so more fun on wet roads and snow.
Raverrabbit1 1 year ago
@Raverrabbit1 Granted your s2000 actually ever see's snow. The s2000 will be more of a sporty car and will probably be more expensive in the long run because of insurance and overall price of the car. its hard saying which one will last longer =P. But yeah the s2000 would be a good choice if you want a drop top to score chicks. But if your just out to blow peoples doors off get the cobalt.
Raverrabbit1 1 year ago
@Raverrabbit1 nice thanks for the info i'll keep that in mind

i have cobalt ls i wonder if i can make it turbo charge?
indianfightclub 1 year ago
@indianfightclub I believe GM makes turbocharger kits for the 2.2 liter cobalt cars however i do not believe it will be as powerfull as the SS turbo for transmission reasons. the stock transmissions are not made to handle the kind of power the SS turbo puts down so you will most likely go from like 144 HP to like 200 ish......maybe.....
Raverrabbit1 1 year ago
Is the recirculator the same thing as a diverter valve
sc62391 1 year ago
@sc62391 no the recirculator lets the exhaust gas pass by the turbine without spooling the turbo to keep it from boosting while the engine is not under load and pipes it back into the exhaust pipe. a diverter valve is basically a blow off valve....instead of venting its built pressure back into the exhaust it releases it into the atmosphere both do virtually the same thing its just one is more "Friendly" to the atmosphere and the other one makes a nice loud noise

ATLBraves1992 2 years ago
I have an 2.2L base model now. It's an '05 and I'm looking into an SS in the spring. I want the newer turbo, but a supercharged would be nice too. What would you prefer? I am leaning more toward the turbo because of the 265 hp and it's newer and the newer features like no-lift-shift etc.
chadk22 2 years ago
SS turbo hands down and im not being biased either. The cobalt turbo got reworked so much more then the supercharged. its just the supercharged will be cheaper now so it only depends on your funding really but if you have the money get the SS turbo and if you really have to know all the fine details and pro/cons on both vehicles ask me and ill do a quick comparison for you
Raverrabbit1 2 years ago
i have a question about the supercharged Cobalts and was wondering if you knew what they changed from 2005 to 2007?
MGK1992 2 years ago
@MGK1992 I really dont think they changed much at all.......i think the only changes that were made between 05 and 07 was the stereo setup and between 06 and 07 they started to offer the stage 2 kit as a factory option so you didnt have to buy the kit for it later on you could order it factory with the stage 2 kit already installed
Raverrabbit1 1 year ago
buy a 2.4 SS for cheap than turbo it for another 2grand, you'll have more ponies then any stock 2.0 forced induction SS cobalts.

ENZO182007 2 years ago

TIA!
jabu69x 2 years ago
The new display will replace the old one. If you want it to just display the boost level you can do that however you can also toggle through the other screens. Im not sure what the other screens display for sure but i would imagine the would show fuel consumption as well as other elements the CPU might keep track of. I am also looking at a 08-09 'balt SS for the end of next summer. If i had a clunker i would have been able to get it sooner. but a car with 36 MPG doesnt Qualify :(

im in the same boat as you and from what ive gathered so far on that topic is that it is very involved, expensive, and can't be warrantied.. i've also read that it is not possible.. either way there are better options out there.. i.e. dashdaq and dashhawk

can u get diff seats tho dont like the red n black interior. =/ jus me i guess
Edempsey 2 years ago
i think iam going to have to put those brembo's on my sc bolt, but i have better seats, recaro
98montecarloz34 2 years ago
Im not sure the brembo's from a TC will fit a SC. The whole front end suspension is different. The steering knuckles on the TC are bigger so i dont think the caliper bolts will line up since they are bigger then the ones on the SC. Problem with that being you cant get new TC knuckles because the half shafts are bigger as well. And nah the recaro seats were ok but way to stiff making for an uncomfortable long distance ride and besides that the only noticable difference is the recaro embrodery
Raverrabbit1 2 years ago
well if that is true then gay, and the recaro's are much diff feel then the ss seats they hold you in a lot better then the new ones, but i will have to get some willwood berakes instead

Hell no. No stickers, no lowering kits, nada.....gonna look bone stock till the day it hits the junk yard (which i hope that day never comes).
Raverrabbit1 2 years ago
Nice car bro. I always liked the cobalts they look nice but i think a like the 05 models better i think they got a biger spoiler dont they?
chavischavis88 2 years ago
No actually the large spoiler was an option on this model. I don't really like the big spoiler it cuts the rear view in half and makes it hard to tell who's behind you. Plus that it actually lowers the overall top speed of the car where as the ss/tc with the big spoiler's top speed is 155 and mine with the low deck lid spoiler is around 170 due to less drag from the wing.
Raverrabbit1 2 years ago
I have to admit. I really do like the sedate styling of the new SS/TC. It packs a lot of punch but isnt near as flamboyant as say the SRT-4 or even the EVO series Mitsubishi's. I'm hoping to turbocharge my Colorado with a HahnRacecraft kit and I want to take a Q or two from GM and tuck everything away and make it look plane Jane. Hope you plan on doing some tasteful mods because you've got quite a car.

chevyblows2001 2 years ago
I'm 17 and I'm looking for a first car, And I love muscle, But for some reason the Cobalt appeals to me. It's a good priced car, and seems easy to maintain, it's Chevy, and with a GM tune kit, it makes upward 300HP, so it's good on power. Do you recommend it as a first car? Also, I plan on replacing the Turbo, blow off valves, waste gate and intercooler with an aftermarket set and adding cold air intake, exhaust system and that tune up, Which I hope to be at around 450HP+. Should I?
369121518210 2 years ago
Why ruin a 100,000 mile warranty with all that stuff? Plus why do you honestly need 450 HP? Youll just get yourself into trouble big time if you were anything like i was and like 90% of the other kids i knew when i was 17. The only things you would really need to upgrade would be the turbo (maybe), exhaust and intake. But i don't know if that would screw with the No lift shift feature or not. The intercooler is already friggin huge.
Raverrabbit1 2 years ago
And i know i'm probably gonna sound like a douche for saying this but it's true and i know from experience but for younger kids such as yourself i wouldn't reccomend this as a first car. You should probably get something less powerfull till you learn how to drive first. I knew plenty of kids in highschool who were rolling on to much power in thier first cars and either had accidents or to many tickets. And being as young as you are insurance in this car will be insane. It is for me and im 24
Raverrabbit1 2 years ago
I have plenty of driving experience, I drag race and I do dirty rally. I want power so I can get into doing quarter mile's with a car(My own) and have something for the street aswell.
369121518210 2 years ago
Raverrabbit is right man, your insurance is gonna be through the roof! I'm married, 24 perfect record with my 2006 SS/SC, and my insurance is double to my wife's.
drskippy99 2 years ago
you planning on doing anymore videos cause im prob be getting one of them and i wont to put a different intake maybe a k&n but idk you seem to know alot so you tell me wat intake should i get 4 it if i get one
vaultfighter 2 years ago
Well see there are two problems with getting an intake kit for this car. 1) is that its not going to give you much HP since the intercooler is going to cool the air much more effiecently then the intake will.
2) They are fucking too expensive like 600 bux for a decent kit.
i actually just took out the filter box and threw in a cone airfilter cost me bout 30 dollars and i still cant figure out why but it gave me 18 total PSI ....like it just opened its breathing ability up more.
Raverrabbit1 2 years ago
The other thing was that after i put the filter in i can hear the wastegate blowing off quite loudly now so that too was a plus so now people cant tell me that oh my car is supercharged cuz now they can hear the turbo spool and blow off!
Raverrabbit1 2 years ago
$600 aint nothing for a intake try $1350 for a fast 92mm intake and tb for my ls1
98camaro1 2 years ago
Well the LS1 is a bigger engine and i bet most of the money for your intake and throttle body was put into the throttle body. To me though 600 dollars is a bit much for some plastic shit and a cone airfilter. I don't care what kind of R&D went into making it....its still outrageous. I can build one for my car with ORiley's build your own intake kits for a fraction of the price and in fact i did and it only cost me 50 bux and i got 3 xtra LBS of boost because of it.
Raverrabbit1 2 years ago
Not to be a dick or anything but i think you got ripped off unless its like a stainless steel intake kit then i might be able to understand but even still you could buy some 3" or bigger exhaust piping and have it bent the way you want it for cheaper then that. All you would have to do is take a look at the kit you WANT to buy and just make something that looks similar and i can garantee you that it will run just as good.
Raverrabbit1 2 years ago
when it comes to intake systems and by intake system i mean just a (Cold air intake) I hope i didnt confuse you when i said intake system because thats what i really meant was 600 dollars for a 3 foot piece of plastic and a cone air filter not a bigger throttle body or intake manifold or anything else....just the plastic crap and the filter. When it comes to that crap i think 90% of people get ripped off. But most people don't realize that they can do it themselves for much cheaper.
Raverrabbit1 2 years ago
well ya but my intake is plastic too for the intake itself its 800 so ya the tb is a big chunk but for a plastic intake it really sux but its good for 21 rwhp which is decent!
98camaro1 2 years ago
Im sorry but i would take the ss cobalt supercharged body style any, and plus with my stage 3 kit in there, i would smoke that turbo like i smoke the good stuff
Dailey24 2 years ago
Lol you apparently smoke to much then since there is no change in the body style other then the grill up front and the wheels and no even with a stage 3 there's no way you could be an SS turbo. They simply achive max torque to fast. Plus that wed still have our ac unit running
Raverrabbit1 2 years ago
why does it matter how big the engine is???...and also im pretty sure this cant beat a skyline or a silvia which are by nissan for the slow people out there
bigboistunnahah 2 years ago
Youd have to be more specific when you say skyline.....there are sooooo many different models of that car it boggles the mind. The r34 had 4 different models alone from the 2.0 to the 2.6 liter model all of which were inline 6 cyl. and i HIGHLY doubt that even the highest end STOCK silvia could touch this car in the quarter. its only a hair faster to 60 MPH but looses its ass in the long run due to low torque power (205 Ftlb vs. Cobalts 263.) Which it does in almost 15 seconds vs cobalts 14
Raverrabbit1 2 years ago
you got a point about the silvia but im pretty sure the skyline is one of the untouched street cars right now...well at least the ones that are here legally via motorex
bigboistunnahah 2 years ago
The only problem now is the fact that comparing the price you will pay for a skyline vs a cobalt SS/tc is like...outfuckingrageous. Your probably going to pay just as much for a REAL skyline (in decent running shape and decent body) as the nissan GTR which is what you might as well get since parts will be easier to get without having to break and ship parts from japan just to fix stupid stuff like brake pads and air filters they don't sell in parts stores here.
Raverrabbit1 2 years ago
I think what ebonyarko meant by whats the deal with all these japanese cars was things like civic's, eclipse's, sentra's and whatnot. Jap american cars. Real japanese cars (The ones you cant get over here without paying their weight in gold) are king as much as i hate to say it. Real lancers, subarus, mitsi's and so forth are MUCH MUCH better if you buy them over there vs here. It would be like us getting watered down version of coke or pepsi vs them having the real full flavored stuff
Raverrabbit1 2 years ago
Lol thx alot,im getting turbalt in a week and im switching to a high rise spoiler simply for the looks
StyleAndSpeedx 2 years ago
Quick question, why does GM put a high rise spoilers on the ss cobalts, not like your's but like huge wings, last time I've heard the car is fwd.
StyleAndSpeedx 2 years ago
Ok this is a very touchy topic for a lot of people who don't know much about car's. GM's high rise spoiler is mainly for looks but there is a reason to put a spoiler like that on a FWD car and any car to be frank. It doesn't matter if its RWD AWD or FWD. The fact is that when your going fast this creates lift because the air moving over your car is moving faster then the air going under it creating lower pressure on top much like the wing of a plane
Raverrabbit1 2 years ago
And when you plan on doing high speed cornering the last thing you need is your car's ass to be lifting up and taking weight off the rear tires when your going around a corner or slight curve. That can be dangerous since the rear end of a car is much lighter then the front which has the engine and receives most of the downpressure from the wind but when it goes up over the top of the car it tends to run off the roof instead of down over the rear
Raverrabbit1 2 years ago
So they put a wing that sits at a downward angle to catch wind and force the rear end of a car downward to keep weight on the tires. The problem with this is.....most of the rice out there can't go fast enough to create the kind of downforce that a wing needs to be functional. Most people put thoes on simply for looks to make it look like a real race car that's capable of 140+ MPH which is roughly the speed at which most wings start to become functional
Raverrabbit1 2 years ago
This also creates more drag on the car which can limit overall top speed as such with my car. The cobalt SS t/c with a high rise wing is only capable of going 156 MPH because of the drag that the high rise spoiler creates. Mine however is capable of 170 MPH because i don't have the extra drag on the back of my car. This makes it more aerodynamic but also more dangerous if i was go to around a corner since my spoiler doesn't help much with rear downforce.
Raverrabbit1 2 years ago
This is also why if you ever watch Formula 1 race cars they have a nosecone that has two wings on the front of the car to keep the front of the car down since the engine is in the back of the car. If you ever get the chance to see what happens to one of these cars when the front nosecone breaks and it looses its downforce in the front the car it will flip over and land on its top.
Raverrabbit1 2 years ago

I have an 09 cobalt ss now with 15,000 miles on it i live in pa i do alot of driving, anyways my friend has a 05 neon srt4 stage 2, when we do a 20mph roll and a 40mph roll i beat him by 4 car lengths, the neon is a nice car i wouldnt mind a new one back in 2005 but an 08 or 09 ss is amazing, i had mine up to 155mph it handles amazing! but already i had the shifter cable replaced and the rear stabilizer rebuilt. thats chevy for you.. oh well make sure you run 93 octane in these cars!

actually, if i want something that can go fast, handle like a dream, and stop on a dime....i wont get a chevy cobalt....ill get a sports car...lol

Dur......nissan GTR helloooooo.....but im talking in comparison between the two ........srt and cobalt
Raverrabbit1 2 years ago
give it time before you can say niether of them had problems....youll see soon enough.....the old GM curse will kick in soon
iRePzSKuLLgANG 2 years ago
All models and all years of neons were a curse
Raverrabbit1 2 years ago
How can you like a car like the neon srt4 so much? they had nothing but motor.....thats all you were paying for.....what the hell else was so special about the neon as to set it even close on the same pedistal as the cobalt .......what special features did it have? NOTHING JUST A LOT OF HP IN A TINY CAR THATS ALL IT WAS!!!
Raverrabbit1 2 years ago
Thats what bugs me about people like you. You place to much love and affection towards something that isnt even special. OMG IT GOES FAST!!! If you wanna go fast there is a better way to do it then a SRT4 its called a crotch rocket.........you want something that can go fast, handles like a dream and stops on a dime ......get a cobalt
Raverrabbit1 2 years ago
You tards sit here and bad mouth a superior car and fight tooth and nail and get no where and waste your breath trying to convince people that a car that has been discontinued due to its bad track record and lack of refinement is better then something that has much better features, performance and looks and then you call people like me who are really only trying to show people the new car but you have the nerve to come here and bash my car just because you can and then you call me a moron
Raverrabbit1 2 years ago
Look at the statistics.......look at the data!!! Every website that would ever compare the two stock for stock would point out the cobalt as the victor here. Slolom, skid pads, cornering ability, track times, 0-60 and quarter mile are all faster in a cobalt so fuc**** keep telling me i'm wrong because YOU SAY THE SRT IS FASTER AND THE DATA IS LYING?
Raverrabbit1 2 years ago
they had the ecotecs in the cav's too if im not mistaken
iRePzSKuLLgANG 2 years ago
yeah for like 2 years before the cobalts.....that last generation of cavilier had them and those never had problems either
Raverrabbit1 2 years ago
Ok answer me this........aside from the general look of the two cars. would you rather buy one thats only fast in a straight line or would you rather buy one thats fast in a line, through corners and has better brakes?........ok come on now....dont even lie to me and say the first one otherwise you are a complete idiot
Raverrabbit1 2 years ago
you are the bias one because you own the piece of crap, if you owned an 05 srt-4 with low milage and wasn't beaten on and you took good care of it, youd know the potential of those vehicles, you can also make them look really nice for a lousy 2 grand
iRePzSKuLLgANG 2 years ago
Lol i have a friend that owns one or rather had one and it was a piece and he bought it brand new. and what the hell is the point of having a performance car if you cant beat on it without breaking it all the time. and yes cavaliers did suck but they were better then neon's and cobalts were much better because of the introduction of the ecotec motor over the chevy 2.2 liter
Raverrabbit1 2 years ago
NO its not bias its common sense and knowledge that would show if everyone gets rid of them........theres a reason for it ......and knowing what those reasons are from working on them, driving them, and hearing what others have to say is what dictates my opinion of them. I have had 2 cobalt SS's and i cant say i regret buying either of them since neither of them ever had any major problems like the SRT did
Raverrabbit1 2 years ago
bulletproof! lol...yeah, cavaliers were known as "bulletproof"....and i have a truck, im not into your little american ricers so much, i just got respect for the srt line-up, if i wanted thatd piece of crap id sell my truck and buy one
iRePzSKuLLgANG 2 years ago
and dont gimme that bull....cobalts have been garbage for reliability since they came out and everyone knows it
iRePzSKuLLgANG 2 years ago
Lol not really not as bad as neon's were.....the ecotec engine is damn near bullet proof thoes things will run for hundreds of thousands......not just thousands like neon's.....dude face it.....neon's just suck and its a pity your so biased towards such a piece of shit that youll call a good car bad because you cant face the fact that something better came along and you cant have one.
Raverrabbit1 2 years ago
ive had two and the only problembs i had with mine is that the tumblers messed up in my ignintion cylinder...but then hey the same thing happened to my step dads lexus...guess thats a peice of shit too?
perdedor3571 2 years ago
Actually i had the ignition tumbler in my 06 cobalt ss fail on me too. The dealer told me that newer tumblers are more prone to fail because they have too many pins and when people have tons of keys hanging from their keychains that it puts to much stress on the pins and causes them to bend when they get jostled around. So now i keep only my car key and the FOB on my keychain and my other key's seperate. But its also true that all thoes keys scratch the piss out of the steering colomn
Raverrabbit1 2 years ago
And it doesn't really matter if thats the only problem you had with your neon. They are still shit box cars with fast motors. Its a neon with a turbo......nothing more. with the cobalt there is so much more between a base model and an SS turbo not just a turbo, wing, and tires.......the srt is a joke you pay an additional 7 grand for a turbo and tires tell me thats not a rip off.
Raverrabbit1 2 years ago
Hi,would you get more hps if you replaced the piping by aluminum piping and add a performance intake??just curious,i think the warranty would be failed!
leoalero 2 years ago
I honestly don't think the piping would make much difference. Its more about look then the actual make of the intake. But an intake might give you a few ponies but i wouldnt suspect a lot.
Raverrabbit1 2 years ago
well, ill tell ya one thing...my opinion is i dont like cobalts, they arent well liked where im from and are looked at as "girls cars" kinda like tiburons. people here hated the supercharged version and they hate the turbocharged version. they should have used to the 2.4 litre
iRePzSKuLLgANG 2 years ago
srt-4 is more respected than a cobalt, a reincarnated cavalier
iRePzSKuLLgANG 2 years ago
LOL hardly......are you kidding me......dude neon's had the worst rep of like any compact car ever built. The cavalier sold way more and they lasted like 10 times longer
Raverrabbit1 2 years ago
the dodge 2 liter DOHC motor was a joke and the 2.4 was worse.....head gaskets went after like100000 miles and the transmissions would crap after like 50k trust me ive had to replace many when i was working for dodge.
Raverrabbit1 2 years ago
Having said that i have worked for dodge would show you that i know firsthand how unreliable dodge's car's are. They have the worst transmission track record because they didnt update their design in almost 20 years. They ran the same automatic and manual transmissions in the 80's dodge caravan's and duster/shadow's all the way into the 2000's
Raverrabbit1 2 years ago
And thats why no one has an SRT4 anymore.......THEY SUCKED!! They were good for the first 50K and then fell apart thats why everyone got rid of em. They used to be all over the place here and now they are all gone save for like 4
Raverrabbit1 2 years ago
And the only reason the srt4 is "respected" anymore is because they are well known.....theyve been around for years and have already established a dominance in the street racing world but now they have fallen to the wayside and been discontinued for being speeding death caskets.
Raverrabbit1 2 years ago
Actually they arnt look it up man shit. And no it does not chevy made a 2.2 ecotec run like 8 second quarter miles ive never seen dodge do that with an srt4 and just because it has .4 more liters doesnt mean a damn thing and just because dodge had stage kits out quicker doesn't mean they did proper testing either since i know for a fact that a lot of srt4's with the stage 3 kits had to have major repairs done to the drivetrain because it tore it up.
Raverrabbit1 2 years ago
man i dont believe one bit that they got 1600 HP out of a 2 litre ecotec
iRePzSKuLLgANG 2 years ago
The pro drag racing teams got only one shot at qualifying, but it was enough for Gary Gardella to put his Chevy Cobalt at the top of the Pro FWD class with a 7.12 second run. Chevy racer Marty Ladwig was in the second spot in Pro FWD, and Bryan Jimenez grabbed the same spot in the Hot Rod class. The Turbo Street class was able to squeeze in two qualifying rounds. Brian Ballard landed in the top spot, piloting his Cobalt to a run of 9.518 seconds at 152.90mph.
Raverrabbit1 2 years ago
type in cobalt races plane in the search bar on youtube......youll find it
Raverrabbit1 2 years ago
yes i heard and saw gm pulled 1450 horses outof this engine! i saw a 6.42 on the quarter mile!
leoalero 2 years ago
the bottom line is, the srt-4 was a well respected compact sports car, and there is no getting around the fact that its engine has more potential then that 2 litre. I'm not sure of exact numbers, but i bet in a straight line the ugly new caliber srt-4's are faster in a straight line then the cobalts
iRePzSKuLLgANG 2 years ago
I never called it a TOY either.......its my CAR its not a toy ....i cant afford another one if this one gets wrecked so i don't treat i like a toy. And no the srt4's motor does not have more potential man look this shit up before you start running your mouth. Have you ever seen a 1600 HP SRT4 with a stock block? I sure havnt.
