  • SHE ROCKS!!!

  • she is so sexy ?

  • midnight special i use to watch it all the time and Don kirsheres rock concert.

  • CRIMES: Count 1 - Invasion of Privacy. Count 2 - Continuing Crucifixion of Angelina DiMauro since February 16, 1994. Today is Wednesday, January 25, 2012 (C.E.), 2:38 AM (Earth-Eastern Standard Time)

  • Linda's great and "the lady in the yellow suit" is Clydie King.

  • Hot sexy and more...

  • I love the lady in the yellow suit. She's really into it. Go girl

  • @LiannaRodriguez I love those back up singers they sung so effortlessly and I love Linda Ronstadt to bits; but you what, I feel those girls sang equally if not better than Linda in that performance

  • SIT BACK AND WONDER

  • - Them White boys be jammin'!

  • Goddamn, but coke just tasted better back then...

  • @vanmandude that's because coke was made with real cane sugar Why do you think they did the New Coke then 3 months later back to Original coke? You forgot unless you travelled to Central America where they still bottle the original/

  • Who sang this song 1st? Her or Van Halen?

  • @Saebeck32 Her...by about 10 yrs, but their version is great too.

  • @Saebeck32 - Actually the original version was done by Dee Dee Warwick (sister of Dionne) who rejected it and gave it to Betty Everett back in 1963. Linda Ronstadt covered it in 1975 and Val Halen did their version in 1979.

  • Man back when Music was really being played:}

  • Jeff Skunk Baxter

  • I love Linda !

  • The chick in the yellow pantsuit is totally upstaging her.

  • Linda es la mejor cantante en este universo,

Su pasion,su etica &su atrevida cambio por cantar en español la hace perfecta

  • nice! the songs great too!

  • BAN BRIAN REDBAN FROM THE PODCAST! SPREAD THIS MESSAGE WITH EVERY YOUTUBE VIDEO YOU WATCH FROM THE PODCAST!

  • Anybody else think Andrew Gold kinda looks like Owen Wilson?

  • BIG Ups! to MR Joe Rogan for putting me on to this on the IceHouseCronicles Podcast

  • House (1986) brought me here.

  • Reminds me of Amy Winehouse's talent!

  • @justfurelise Sorry no comparison.

  • @itdoesntmatter56789 haha. very little indeed. Winehouse wrote some stunners, sang with soul, had charisma and a sometimes-solid stage show, but LR...her singing is more masterful I'd assert. If Winehouse had taken a lot better care of herself, well, the issue might be unresolved.

  • I just love the way the woman in Yellow Boogies. Shirley Matthews (on the left) told me her name years ago but I keep forgetting. With all this great stuff on You Tube - nobody will be left to watch the crap on TV these days !

  • JOE ROGAN!!!! :D

  • Powerful!

  • Roe Jogan

    Joe Rogan

  • also sent by rogan

  • ur no good

  • To josbo5175: Isn't that a totally racist remark?

  • To josbo51715: In a recent interview, Rondstadt admitted that she hated singing pop rock and roll. Notice how bored she looks during this performance. However, the band and back up really saved the show. The girl in the yellow is Clydie King. Too bad she didn't make it on her own. I found her solos to be nasal sounding and lacking feeling...kind of like Diana Ross. Ronstadt truly is a great voacalist, though. Check out "Conciones De Mi Padre" or her recordings with Nelson Riddle.

  • To: Captainwess: Please keep in mind that this was made in the 70's. I think that these musicians all really brought the song to life. By the way, "Captain", what instrument do you play and how many albums and professional gigs have you been a part of?

  • @gruntball You're such a self-serving idiot. You don't realize how stupid you really are. hahahahahahahahahahaha

  • This song is for you Kerry R.

  • Sent by rogan

  • JOE HOGAN

  • @BlarixHD STOP ESMOKE DE HEEFER. YOU GECH GLAUCOMA.

  • It cracks me up how when white singers try to sing with soul, they always hire black background singers for credibility. I guarantee that both her back up singers could sing her under the table.

  • @josbo51715 uh-huh, yeah, right. that's why miss linda went on to success in just about every genre of music possible, with record sales to date over 100 million worldwide! and where are HER back-up singers today? yeah...yeah, i know, i don;t know either!

  • @Likeadiamondsnake That's the point dumbass. Whites can get away with being mediocre. I'm not saying that Linda can't sing, but there are millions of black girls in the ghetto who could sing her under the table. She's only sing the lead because she's white and white is more marketable. I guarantee that he backup singers can sing better than her. It has nothing to do with success or record sales. I'm talking about talent.

  • @josbo51715 LINDA RONSTADT has more TALENT in her elbow than most of the black female vocalist of today! if you hear just one current black singer sing, than you've heard 'em all! all they do is scream! same goes with current white female singers! it's not an issue of race, it's a lack of vocal range! go far back enough to diana ross, billie holliday, mama cass elliot, and the lady we're discussing, and you'll find TALENT! nothing mediocre about linda! made my point without any name calling DONE!

  • @Likeadiamondsnake True!! So True! Back in the day it was not about what color you were. It was not about what gender you were.

  • @josbo51715 Grasshopper you are what...born in the 70's?! or later?! If you were born earlier... than you must be an ex Black Panther whanna be. If you have any brain cells which is doubtful from your "White's can get away with being mediocre....etc" Pleeeaaaseee! Put the comic books and the booze away and do some homework about what your are saying. I am black and your statement is beyond ignorant and untrue! Go ask your momma for your blanket!

  • @itdoesntmatter56789 What a stupid brainwashed slave! You get pleasure from defending white privilege? Are you sucking some white man's little pink cock? Go back to picking cotton dummy! You're a voluntary slave!

  • @josbo51715 Actually you are right on this occasion for sure; these girls are brilliant so effortless and yes they sang better than Linda. In general your comments are totally true.

  • TRAIN BY DAY, JOE ROGAN PODCAST BY NIGHT, ALL DAY!!!

  • @N1ckd0g I laughed so hard.

  • Rogan sent me here.

  • This Girl is so pretty..

  • Linda Ronstadt's band looks like the back up band for the Muppets

  • what the hell was jose feliciano talking about?

  • Linda's voice is PURE GOLD

But listen to this woman's sweet voice:

    watch?v=zBy9t171DEM

  • Linda is pretty cute, but that outfit she got on...what waz she thinkin? her back up singers outstaged her! That outfit is no gud!

  • WOW.. that strange thing, the great Jose Feliciano hosted the great Linda on "You're No Good", It's nice to know the Jose immediatly recorded this song in his 1974 hit album "And The Feeling's good", the same album which contains also "Chico and the man theme" and a outstanding version of Stevie Wonder's "Golden Lady"... thar was a great time for music.

  • It is Baxter...

  • is that skunk baxter on congas

  • Great song. 3 gorgeous women, and NO fake boobs. I miss those days.

  • Thank you Grandma Lily!! You were a very wise woman!!

    RIP...miss you so much!!:(

  • 24 people are ... no good ;-)

  • gee, this song shows my age, used to love staying up watching the Midnight Special

  • Ms Ronstadt is still around big time. Taking Los Cenzontles on a tour w/ her to Europe next year. Was on Ry Cooder and the Chieftain's CD "San Patricios" recently. She is wonderful. Ever since her days with the Stone Pony's and the song "Different Drum.

    "

  • I want that little puerto rican girl so bad i can taste it.....

  • Andrew Gold....So easy a caveman can do it.....

  • @countdankula1 That's just hurtful....I'm going to go get a smoothie.

  • @countdankula1 Haha! How is that not the top comment?!

  • the late, great Ritchie Hayward (Little Feat) on drums

  • Jeff "Skunk" Baxter on percussion and the guy with the beard playing guitar is Andrew Gold.

  • @BestMusicExpert They called him Skunk because he never took a shower and detested the use of toilet paper. This really made him get "Rank" in the heat of summer when Linda would request that he play his drums downwind from the rest of the band... OLE skunk was indeed quite a stinker back then... LITERALLY!!!

  • @Lindawatcher I had heard that before. Kinda disgusting and now we know why Steely Dan stopped touring! lol

  • the woman in the gold jump suit is Clydie King.

    she can move those hips.

  • @AreaManOnlineAgain Check out her singing back in 1956 as Little Clydie and the Teens, esp. their cover version of "A Casual Look".

  • Musicians Rock!!! Excellent Performance. They Made Linda sound like a pro.

  • thank you with all my heart , we still love you

  • dee warrick did it first betty evrett 2nd and linda

  • @pattifanalwayz The first version of this I heard was by the Swingin' Blue Jeans. Must have been 1963 or 64. Loved it then, love it now. Loved Linda's version, too.

  • Is the Don Felder of the Eagles on lead guitar? How cool!!!!!!! and by the way - the lady singer is not so bad either...!!!!!

  • @j2thashaw Its Andrew Gold.

  • thats Shirley Matthews on the left - she once told me who the gold chick was - but I can't remember her name - but she rocks

  • @Dutchy1965 That would be Clydie King...

  • @70bassman92 correct !

  • What a voice!!!

  • Jesus Christ what a voice talent and performance, Linda You Rock and she should be in the Rock Hall Of Fame!!!

  • Is that Jeff "Skunk" Baxter on Bongos? Andrew Gold on lead guitar?

  • Ronstadt looks HOT back in the day.

  • Did you ever see how georgeous Linda Ronstadt looked in that 1977 Album that has "Lo Siento mi Vida" on it..? Dan O'Niallain

  • Beautiful woman..

  • I love you, Linda. Ass-kicking rhythm section.

  • @bartolemeo You could really whack those Remo Black Dots. They sounded great.

  • That's not country,it's rock ,listen to Van Halen's version

  • That's not country,it's rock

  • Looks like a spoof, they are so in costume. Great voice!

  • Dedicated to Sarkozy and a certain man I voted for...

  • The backup singers and hippie drummer steal the show.

  • this isn't very country

  • Classic!

  • That Voice!... Xs

  • I had forgotten how awesome she is!!

  • Is'nt that the drummer from Little Feet

  • I'll tell you, whatever happened to the truly talented female vocalists in The music industry? Speaking of which, whatever happened to Mrs. Ronstadt? We don't hear from her these days. It is her you thank for The Eagles, for she discovered them. Thank You, Mrs. Ronstadt!

  • Wow! Forgot how cute Linda was back in the day....And how good she could sing. The two ladies singing in the background are awesome too!

  • I really like this version. Everyone contributes to the talent pool. REAL MUSIC. Would love to be in the audience and not just to see Linda's pretty face! :)

  • The guitar player looks like Owen Wilson with a beard xD

  • @FenderMannen I can't stop laughing at that...LOL.

  • skunk baxter of the doobie brothers is playing the congos on this song. Van Halen did a version in the 80's but nothing matched Lindas' version and I' m the biggest van halen fan

  • Man how good is this Girl..Even the back up Girl was Impressed..

  • great version--and agree the drummer & gal in the gold suit are also OUTSTANDING but they do not OUTSHINE Linda's performance here, rather they enhance it--totally awesome video--tx for posting--sorry it took me almost 4 yrs to find it

  • What the... when i first heard this song, i thought it was the song in 21st century. And i never thought it's really that old.

  • Seriously, I've yet to hear anyone do this song justice when they try to sing it. It seems like Linda is the only one who can really do this song right!

  • Give the 70s or give me death!!!!

  • these songs are fucking epic hahha.

  • Everything about this video is just perfect!!

  • skunk played with the doobie brothers too

  • Is the Jeff Baxter on the congas...?? This was a great time for pop music.

  • Linda Ronstadt, Beauty and Talent This was a great set where it all came together... But when your as good as Ronsttadt it happens more often as not, she makes you feel the music.

  • 2.26 to 2.27 Man this Gal felt it..

  • Linda runs rings around all the band...This Gal was Damn good..

  • Skunk Baxter on the Congas? Nice!!!

  • @Oneslugsteve thought that was him. wasn't sure. are you?

  • That was great years on music.. and Jose Feliciano at begin was another incredible example of music genius..

  • Who is the wolfman playing lead guitar?

  • @MADMAC572 The late great Andrew "Lonely Boy" Gold. Thank you for being a friend.

  • she ownes this song

  • @Joeyland. Van Halen owns this song. They play it way better, if there is such a thing as playing a song better than the original...which, of course, there is.

  • ya, idk why, but i am attracted to the dress of the girl in the gold jump suit

  • O.K. let me get my facts right, Clydie King is actually doing a cover of Sly and the Family Stone's 'Dance To The Music' but it's so very different it fooled me all the way. I had it the other way around but I was wrong. I still think Stevie Wonder's 'Superstition' may have come from Clydie's version of 'Dance To The Music' but I could be wrong about that too, anyway it's worth a listen to decide for yourself. Once again search - Clydie King, Dance To The Music on YouTube. Peace.

  • Privettricker; Thanks I read all the posts and figured it out. Yes I love that video and Richie's power roll takes the band in a whole new direction. I've wondered who that drummer was for years 'cause I've been seeing the ads for Midnight Special. I researched Skunk & Clydie King too. There's a video of Clydie doing a song titled Dance To the Music maybe Sly & the Family Stone and Stevie Wonder (Superstition) may have 'borrowed from the song

Search - Clydie King, Dance To The Music on YouTube.

  • that lady in the gold suit has it going on, ya

  • @30inventionman Search - Clydie King, Dance To The Music on YouTube.

  • @30inventionman ....I agree !! Lady in the gold suit has it going on : her name is Clydie King. She had been part of a singing team with Venetta Fields and Sherlie Matthews, named the Blackberries. Listen to " HUMBLE PIE Black Coffee (1973)" to get some more of her talents.

  • incredible

  • oh yeah,....while Rondstadt obviously did some decidedly "country" songs...this sure wasn't one of them...this was back when Country music was hip with the hippies...Poco, Emmylou, etc. Lots of great music discovered on Midnight Special even though it looks a tad campy to the modern eye. I discovered the band Orleans on that show...that alone made it worthwhile.

  • yeah....Ritchie Hayward and Andrew Gold...not bad "sideman" hehe.

  • Country?

  • @Paragon767 He just said she was a country performer. Up until this song, everything Linda had put out as a solo artist had a country flavor. This was the first song on the Heart Like A Wheel album and every other song on it sounded country except this one. But this is when she started to rock and do motown and other genres. She kept doing country style rock but branched out more and more with every album.

  • Is that Andrew Gold on lead guitar?

    Great song--One of her best.

  • A very authentic performance :)

  • Thank you, bloozedaddy. Some people just don't know. And that's why we are here to help them. Research, instead of taking things out of context like todays social media! lol At any rate, LR can sing like no other! I mean, come on. You try singing this song..... Exactly.

  • BTW, That is Richie Hayward (Little Feat) on the drums.

  • the late great Andrew Gold on guitar taking them home from the Bridge ...

  • hell yeah. i so love this. best "f(&*^ off" lyrics ever written.

  • uh...the guy in the sunglasses is Jose Feliciano...and he was a big star back then..hence the reason he was HOSTING The Midnight Special. Geez...people never cease to amaze me. Oh yeah,,,he wore the glasses because he's blind...other than that...nice attack on him. :)

  • uh...the guy in the sunglasses is Jose Feliciano...and he was a big star back then..hence the reason he was HOSTING The Midnight Special. Geez...people never cease to amaze me.

  • Yes.. awesome.. Linda was/is a great singer <3 and the boys in the band!!! Such cuties <3 lol..

  • Country?! Blues...

  • Anyone else forget their name while looking at her?

  • Is that Ray Manzarek from the doors playing keyboards there?

If it ain't the guy looks just like him

  • linda you're SO good!!!

  • @thisischavez...umm the guy in the sunglasses in blind and he kinda has a really well known hit that is played every year called Feliz Navidad...but you wouldn't know anything about that now would ya! lol

  • Comment removed

  • @thisischavez He wasn't trying to make the show about himself. He was hosting. He's more than a one hit wonder. He also sang the theme from Chico and the Man and Light My Fire and many other things. He acted as well. Maybe Burt Sugarman told him to play something or ok'd it. That's what they did on this show. They didn't just introduce the performers. The hosts and other performers introduced other performers and had little bits and things. It's another thing that separated it from other shows.

  • @itsyounmesweetie. You guys are absolutely right. I was wrong. I wasn't trying to make fun of him, by any means, though. I still think that he, and all other hosts just should introduce, but hey, that's just my opinion. There was no reason for me to go over the top like I did.

  • Powerful voice, hits all the notes pure and clear. Not like today's wannabes.

  • Linda...after the Stone Poneys and the Eagles.

  • Comment removed

  • O.K., Duh, I read all the comments and it appears that the Drummer is indeed Ritchie Hayward, may he rest in peace. However, I'm sticking to what I said about him before I knew his name which was "I fucking LOVE that fucking drummer!"

  • I found this about Skunk Baxter which would seem to imply that your comments about Skunk are just hearsay.

Jeff "Skunk" Baxter is very mysterious about the origin of his nickname. Maybe one day he'll tell us in a biography. In a July 1992 interview he mentions: "Everybody wants to know and I really enjoy listening to all the myriad theories."

Skunk became a politician of sorts & is pro-nuclear. He was actually going to run for office as a Republican which greatly tarnishes his reputation IMHO.

  • I THINK YOU'RE CONFUSING SKUNK BAXTER (ON CONGAS) WITH THE DRUMMER. I'M NOT TALKING ABOUT THE CONGA PLAYER, I'M TALKING ABOUT THE DRUMMER IN THE WESTERN SHIRT WITH THE THIN MUSTACHE. SKUNK BAXTER (IN THE BABY BLUE SHIRT) HAS THE LONG MUSTACHE. DOES ANYONE KNOW THE DRUMMERS REAL NAME, I'D LIKE TO FIND OUT MORE ABOUT HIM LIKE WHO ELSE HE'S PLAYED WITH AND WHERE IS HE THESE DAYS, I'M JUST CURIOUS. WHERE DID YOU GET THE "POOP" ON THE SKUNK, IS IT RELIABLE OR JUST HEARSAY? THANKS :)

  • @tonyrio oh, I forgot to mention drummer's name: Richie Hayward.

  • Comment removed

  • ray charles was the man..

  • I fucking LOVE that fucking drummer!!!

  • @tonyrio They always called him Skunk years ago. I found out recently it was because he did not ever bathe nor did he wipe his ass after he went to the bathroom. As such, he stunk to high heavin.. esp in the summer. Linda always had him placed "Downwind" when he performed with them! Gotta love ole Skunk!

  • @tonyrio That's Richie Hayward from Little Feat. Skunk Baxter is on the congas and Andrew Gold is playing guitar. A heck of a band.

  • @tonyrio Just on the off chance you don't know the drummers name...it's Ritchie Hayward. You probably knew that so forgive me. If not...listen to Little Feat.....He really was one of the very very best.....

  • @tonyrio He looks like he is out of the muppets haha

  • @jessjade7 The conga player (Skunk) maybe but not the Drummer! The drummer is a God!

  • @tonyrio He's probably one of the all time greats, but we just lost him to liver cancer. Listen to the introduction to a song called "Fat Man in The Bathtub" which showcases his drumming. (the band was called Little Feat)

  • Linda Ronstandt jams.love her music.

  • Must be Crazy...Linda ia gorgeous..and a 'powerful' singer..best kinda

    music ever..Thanks Midnight Special

  • I wrote the original version but it was stolen from me. It was called You Stink, but then they changed the words.

  • WOW! I was born in 1973 so this was a little before my listening time but a paid commercial for "the midnight special" just came on tv and I saw a clip of this song so I searched it. Amazing! Thanks for posting.

  • The lady in the yellow suit is Clydie King. One third of the backing singers 'The Blackberries' with a very impressive CV, and a very good singer in her own right. Also Andrew Gold doing a fine guitar solo.

  • Wow, that pig-nosed cow can sing!

  • @tobewunaskwunaaron Yeah, cuz your ideal of feminine beauty is probably Minnie Pearl......
