  • What an epic!

  • This guy was one of the best things to happen to Disco. We miss him, raychapa01.

  • Oh yeah Sylvester was the PARTY KID, Love him foreve!

Saludos

  • Club Hollywood - New Jersey 1978! YEAH! Memories that will never fade.......

  • Martha and Izora were Two Tons Of Fun before they beame the Weather Girls. They probably left Sylvester because they were put on the side too many times. Martha Wash in her career was pused aside and sang in the shadows of many dance club groups. She is one of the best vocalist and I just watched her perform at San Jose Pride. She was amazing!!!!

  • brings back borderline days

  • Wow - Those were the days!!!! I remember them well!!

  • I want a Quaalude!

  • @MerleOberon Quaalude - no - you needed Black Beauties back then to keep dancing all night (not that I would know from experience!)

  • Yeah, Martha and Izora are also known as "The Weather Girls" and had their own hit with "It's Rainin' Men", a song everybody knows.

  • Got a match? Mmm Hmm It's a fabulous club. I'm tellin' you! Look at all the fabulous people. Wanna dance? Yes, I'd love to! Let's party a little bit. Alright. Cookin' on my feet in the disco heat. Dancin' through the night, til mornin' light shines on me, again. Music makes me dance, dance, dance, dance. Dancing's total freedom, be yourself and use your feelin' Come on, get up, let me see some swingin' swayin', move, groove, slidin', glidin', rockin', reelin' Come on, get up, everybody dance!
  • Say what you will about this video--it captures the song I remember on the dance floor, and I had no idea there was a video. I'm not sure I'd want to see me dancing to this, but I sure have good memories of Sylvester on the dance floor in West Hollywood and at Hula's.

  • I love this song but, not this video....why are Martha and Izora off to the side in house dresses no less when they are the one's doing the lions share of the singing????

  • grandioso silvestro!!!

  • sylvester past away and he never knew how popular his music was all around the world I'm from Chile and his music was always part of our parties even today!!!

  • If you weren't there, you missed it. Sorry, but what can I say, it was so much fun. On the otherhand, you folks are going out to dance and get laid while us folks are going to bed to go to work, so I guess what goes around comes around.

  • the best disco song ever! RIP BABY!

  • its about the music! Fabulous!

  • I like disco....but not this. "Too many dancers spoil the song".

  • sly is really the only hardcore disco i like.

  • my dad loving this music!!!

  • MUY BUENA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • he was married to the actress Lela Rachon(Waiting to Exhale) and you can see her dancing with him in some videos. He was all over the place.

  • the gay community party really hard,no f....games,hats off!! for them!!

  • @22huracanes I was there on Polk St. SF during this time. They were partying in the streets, the music just flowed out of the clubs. It was like Mardi Gras most nights.

  • The man in the "big hat" is SHABBA DOO aka Adolfo Quiñones. I was TOTALLY in luv with that gorgeous man!!! He and his dancers were featured weekly on this 80s show called "The Big Show" when I first laid eyes on him. Yawl probably know him best from those Breakin' movies.

  • @2seksi Oh ok, I thought I had seen him somewhere before, maybe it was in one of those Breakin movies....

  • @2seksi Or they know him from his Lockers days and on Soul Train. And btw, he (Shabba Doo) is STILL fine.

  • The man in the big hat is just showing out now!

  • @grizzlyfan41 Showing out!? Have you any idea who that is?? That man 'in the big hat' IS the original b-boy. His stage name is shabadoo real name is adolpho Quiones. He has an African Mother and Puerto Rican Father...Full of Rhythm!! Look him up

  • @bgroupie Thanks BGroupie, I kinda knew who he was, but someone else on here explained it to me.....I remember Shaba-doo.....he was married to actress Lela Rachon for a while I think.....

  • @grizzlyfan41 Yes he was married to her. It was a typical Hollywood love story..less than two years, lol!

  • this is very good dance music , i love to dance disco music . DISCO MUSIC FOR EVER !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I wish todays guys (gay/straight) would grab me by the hand and take me to the dance floor in the club so WE CAN DANCE our troubles away for a moment like they did in the early 90's on back! But alas a man dancing in the club is considered GAY now! Fellas when you out clubb'n grab your girl by the hand and take her to the dancefloor TRUST me she might be weir'd out at first but by the end of the night she'll be IN LOVE with you and how SHAMELESS you are and you'll probably get some too!

  • @ShredGal I agree with you but today's music doesn't make you want to dance. Wish we had some more music that just makes you want to get up and start to cut a step but alas.....

  • @ShredGal Tis True, oh So True.

  • @ShredGal Yeay...!!! :>)

  • @ShredGal It's funny you should write this. I'm 51 disco kid from New York, originally from Jamaica, and the virility of a man was judged by his moves on the dance floor. If you could dance your ass off females would wait in turn to dance with you, I kid you not. And being a great hustle dancer, even taught lessons and won hustle competitions ( my partner was a fine Boriqua sister named Angie from E.103rd st., El Barrio) I had an endless supply of females. Oh how I miss those days.

  • @kwacou - so true, so true- am 54 now and i was an excellent dancer then and always had partners at the club-ah those were the days...

  • @ShredGal kinda hard for some guys to dance nowadays, they may get tangled up in their thigh low pants.

  • pura musica buena! abajo el reggeton (N)

  • "Fun" on dancefloors hasn't been repeated since the end of disco.

  • Sometimes it's hard to remember that dance music used to make you actually feel good. Then you see stuff like this and it all comes back......

  • GOOD ALL DAYS, GOOD OLD DAYS.....

GOD BLESS YOU, SYLVESTER YOUR MUSIC MAKES FEEL SO YOUNG.

  • Unbelievable. I wish I had a time machine. It was so much fun when the music was good like this!

  • I remember this age of the good music disco 70s , so good times

Gracias Sylvester!!

  • fantastic was this at studio 54 then

  • I'm confused..............wasn't Slyvester a female singer who also did great songs; Do You Wanna Funk With Me as well as the disco-hit, You Make Me Feel Mighty Real.............didn't know a man was involved at all.

  • @beaconmike lol...Sylvester was a guy....

  • @beaconmike NOT, NO A FEMALE , HE WAS GAY THOUGHT, AND HE WAS ONE OF THE FIRST VICTIMS OF AIDS

  • good music is obsolete. So I listen to outadated stuff period.

  • dislike or like? they should have a LOVE button for his SERENE MAJESTY Sylvester!

  • lived the disco era, it was FAB!! Everyone should take the time to listen to these artists. A total dance craze.

  • I am happy to say I lived thru this and experienced it ALL. No one cared if you dressed crazy and fun.

  • This is music that you can really move to!!!

  • I had a feeling Prince was going to do this live one day.

  • Tears of Joy..... To all the KIDS here and gone. Sylvester you are always with us, me more so than not as I still crank your jams to prepare me for my work day... Do You Wanna Funk

  • This song was more Martha Wash then Sylvester

  • ***shaking my butt** GO SYLVESTER GO!!!!! RIP to a great.

  • you know the two tons of fun were his backup singers...the sistas could blow!!

  • Wish I was at the Trocadero Transfer dancin my ass off agin....

  • Disco at its's finest...believe it or not this looks like the parties I used to go back in Detroit in circa 1977-78

  • Brilliant

  • this makes me wish disco was still around...

  • @SuzSeptember it IS! You just have to know where to look...Plenty of good disco and re-edits being produced today. Search juno.co.uk...

Not so much the 'live' stuff...but still good!

  • Wow, does this bring back memories. I agree with Boyin747, Sylvester was WAAY ahead of his time! He had genuine, God-given talent!

  • Great song!

  • Ha! A thousand words! This is the first time I've seen some of these disco videos and wow, I didn't miss a thing! Hulas (Beneath the banyan), Rafters, I Beam, Probe, and of course Studio One (racist, and sexist place that it was). Oh my. The kids today wouldn't get it. No? I can't say. Like us, they think they're invincible, ageless, not like their parents. Oh my. Of course, we "didn't have AIDS", or so we thought, but the thinking was certainly part of the moment, if you lived...

  • this man had showmanship and vocal power!

  • I love it

  • WOW. The energy! That was so crazy and look incredibly fun! Why aren't clubs today like this more? Too much dirty freaking or being too uncomfortable, just dance!!!

  • 4:18, one of the finest moments in the disco era...love Martha Wash!

  • DIVA!!!!

  • DISCO MUSIC RULES!!!!!!!!!

  • the two ladies who sang with Sylvester were called Two Tons of Fun..they had their own songs too...fun times the 70's...miss them...

  • @DoUWanna007

the one lady in 2 tonnes, was Martha Walsh. she later went on to be the "voice" behind Black Box and a bunch of other things.

  • @mrjaxthecat ....that's right! One of them passed away...I think Martha Walsh is still around...not sure...

  • Shabba doo. Wow I didn't know that!

  • This makes me smile! Saw Sylvester in Atlanta at Limelight back in the day and got a signed pic. I treasure it!

  • @mickeyalberts Plenty of us folks have come to Atlanta from Chattanooga to have fun!!

  • In 1978-1979 my dance partner and I used this in our signature routine as disco touch dancing competitors. It helped us to win many contests and holds a special place in my heart as the pulse of that era. What an amazing phenomina it was!

  • This track gives me goose bumps! Sylvester was a true star!!!

  • I love this song but "Everybody Is A Star," is also one of the best.

  • This song defined what was to become the Disco era, Sylvester, Donna Summer, Grace Jones, The Ritchie family, Salsoul Orchestra, Serrone, Karen Young, Evelyn Champagne King, and many others fueled the energy in the dance floors........

  • @SuperHugobox ain't that the truth!

  • Silvester RIP

  • LOVE THIS AND I LOVE DISCO...DISCO FOREVER!!!

    GIL ,,LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA

  • sensational disco music from 70's, I really love and enjoy this music thanks Silvester

  • DISCO THIS IS MUSIC ! ! !

  • @anierodri

Yes yes yes, right! I love disco!!!!

  • DISCO STU!!!!!!

  • I was Sylvester's biggest fan. He was the consumate performer if ever there was one. I have all his albums and he was my hero, or "she-ro" which he would just giggle about me saying it. When he left this world, a true talent went with him.

  • I saw Sylvester at the Felt Forum back in the day....It's so good. God Bless him...

  • good morning Everyone ! I am still stuck in Boracay and trying to get back to Manila...just decided to post this to get al of you up and running !!!

  • They need to re release this shit! This is the shit! Especially the beginning with the women singing..they can put that on a loop and really make this a smash. I love it!!!

  • waw what a great video t2 watch

  • After Stonewall gay life exploded and Sylvester's fabulous music defined the celebratory joy that was a result. Then the Reagan / Bush years brought us all down for several decades. Sylvester's music remains a delight and an inspiration to show young people what is possible.

  • 80's Will Never Die.

  • @mrsunshineshines

And Of Course The Late 70's.

    One And The Same.

  • @mrsunshineshines This was recorded in '78 and this video is from '79...

You mean the 70s will never die!!

  • Not ONE person was against the wall or just standing there... EVERYBODY was dancing.. that's what I'm talkin' about :)

  • This was the JAM!! I'm so happy to have been alive when Sylvester was here, setting the world on fire with his beautiful spirit and great music. Sylvester's music was always happy, representing freedom and joy. He is so missed.

  • I wish I was around in the disco era, this music is so much better than mainstream music of today.

  • i like this song my mom loves it to

  • Dance Fever baby!

  • CLASSIC!!!!!!....although I was too young to party at that time, I loved the song...miss you so much Sylvester.

  • What a song! I feel like dancing again! DISCO MUSIC will live forever!

  • Boy when music is good...it's just good! Those voices on that beat is Killer!

  • was fascinated by his joy on unsung

  • there will never be another time like it..Still dancin @ 62!!

  • Nice.

  • Fucking beautiful!!! Dance baby!!!

  • Oh yeah, I remember now. Great music. He kept us moving!

  • pass the ludes please...

  • brings back alot of great times at studio 54and other clubs in NEW YORK CITY Cmon N Dance

  • Sylvester RIP:( What a great talent.

  • Wow! These are some of the best dancers I've ever seen! I hope that this is my heaven when its time for me to go!

  • Amazing music..............I never knew people enjoyed disco this much. It blows my tiny mind.

  • Everyone having fun.

  • Yea I also had a chance to go to Studio 54 back in the day. And let me tell you there hasn't been a club like it since. Can you name a club today that is known WORLDWIDE! nope you can't 'cause there aren't any...We had it going on back then, and this song help put them and DISCO on the map....RIP Sylvester, thanks for the many many nights of dancing...

  • Amen! Also, most of the kids nowadays don`t know how to dance like this. Last time a girl gave me her hand in a club, it was a disgrace, she couldn`t even fake a basic turn, let alone anything. I hope this is just the situation in my city, but I fear the disease of bad dancers is plaguing more locations nowadays.

Come back disco! We need real dancing! :)

  • "I hope this is just the situation in my city, but I fear the disease of bad dancers is plaguing more locations nowadays."

I have to agree with you MUSIC/DANCE has been WATERED down. I'm MIDDLESCHOOL, (not new or old school)so when I'm older I'll the 90's on back of music/dance I can listen to.

  • that's ok but where's silvester?

  • how could anyone hate disco?

  • i hear you, I remember that time, nothing but smiles and Fun. anyone who hated it was prob some miserable sort. Dance the beat!!! Cmon and dance!

  • Sylvester will NEVER die! One of a kind, way ahead of his time.

  • way... WAY!

  • 4:18, one of the greatest vocal moments ever

  • @kyle19125 i love me some izora!!!

  • Thank you horndog305. That's what I'm talking about, not everybody can say "I went to Studio 54"

You can rave all you want, but you can't go to the 54 anymore!!!

  • Never been to a rave but i have been to 54...theres no mystic to a rave. its like going to a house party. yea there fun but when you say "i went to 54" thats like nightclub heaven. You can still go to a rave but you cant go to 54 anymore. RIP sylvester.

  • classic 70s no more words needed.

  • great post

  • craziiiiiiiiieeeeeeeesssssssssssssss

  • absolutely!!!!!!!!

  • Martha Wash and Izora Armstead they really sang most of this. Martha still going. I still kick this record when partying. R.I.P Slyvester and Izora

  • I first met Sylvester at the Anvil in NYC. He became a great friend. I'll never forget the times we spent on Fire Island and in P-Town. God, I miss him.

  • Sylvester was one hell of a artist ! I grew up in the Bay Area where his music played everywhere... He was ahead of his time ! And is truly missed by those who enjoy his music !

  • Now, this is a party. Kids nowadays don't and will never get it that the best party era was the 70's. Nothing compares to a Discotheque party. I hear them all the time saying that they went to best party in the world... reality is that they are a bunch of wanna be's. LOL... even my own sons... they just suck, plain and simple.

  • I can testify that Raves were every bit as much fun as the discotheque, if not more so, and having lived through both and a bunch of stuff in between I should know.

  • Testify all you want, I went to Studio 54 in NY, Locomia in Ibiza, Spain, Le Locomovite in France, La Boom in Can Cun, Mexico, just to name a few I also wento to Rave parties, heck I still go out to international clubs around the world.... but Raves are for doped-out kids and they go nowhere near "The 54"

  • I'll take it we agree to disagree then, while never at "The 54" I always wanted to go but settled for the Trocadero Transfer and I-Beam in S.F. some clubs in Amsterdamn, Puerto Vallarta, and the beaches of Goa. I guess I am one of those doped-out kids at soon to be 51 years of age. I'm not into MDMA though just not enough bang for the dollar I remember MDA in the 70's much better drug lasted 12 hours and you saw trails.

  • I guess I can agree on that, while in Puerto Vallarta I went to "Chistine's" That was the shit back in the mid 80's, never at Trocadero but one time the Dee Jay from S.F.'s Trocadero played at Gino's in Hollywood, I just can't remember his name.... I too smoked pot and tend t forget all the little details. Best of luck from LA, California :)

  • did this require taking it up the rear? or eating lots of 7 up? I mean coke?

  • LOVE HIM!!!!!! OH GOD THE MEMORIES!!!!! Those were very GOOD times!!!!

  • Great song. Would have rated it higher, but the sound quality and video quality aren't very good.

  • my favorite part on this song is the bass background vocal that goes: "CMON AND DANCE...GET UP AND DANCE" - das de coolest shit ever...and DAMN...it started getting super funky at the end of the vid!

  • Martha Wash & Two Tons of Fun on the right edge of the stage!

  • 80's never can be repeated eat your heart out youngins

  • Classic from Ms. Sylvester!!! ^_^ RIP brother!

  • Eu dancei muuuuuiiiiitttttto esta música.

  • Estupenda rola de la lejendaria "

    MUSICA DISCO"

  • Get up and dance!

    Gilbert/San Fernando Valley

  • oh my god this is it!
