@jonjon38953 RF T2 subs are only a few hundred dollars each. HCCAs are all fluff. Grant it,HCCAs do get loud, but you still spent 400 on something that isn't worth that. Fi car audio, DD's, DC Sound Lab, SSA, Image Dynamics. MMATS, all these are great brands. With mainstream car audio, you're just paying for the name...something made in China.

@MrDownkiller well the problem is i have went up against a guy with 2 rockford t2 12s and a bd 2500 and have beatin them by 7 db with my 1 15 ma audio and im only pushing 2000 rms to it i have beatin a t2 15 on a rockford bd 2500 by 4 db but to me the hifonics and mb quart have very good sound quility as a rockford but i install my equipment myself they had rockford install theres

@MrDownkiller see i have 2 15 inch ma audio hk woffers they call for a custom box but i can only use 1 because my trunk aint big enough a ported box for these things are 3 to 4 cubes and i would have to face them inside the car but no room for a port i have seen my own subs hit a 158 at a db drag with only 2000 rms and had them in dodge darango but im thinking about having psi recone mine to take about 3k all day and see what happens

you can add Incriminator Audio, SSA, Soundslpinter, TC lms, FI, and on another note.... MTX prolly has one of the best subs as for component subs b/c the 9500 series was based on the TC i actually heard that TC designed the sub for MTX so other than that series mtx is eh ok. Personally i run a 15" Incriminator Audio Death Row off a sundown saz1000....n let me tell ya you will not get this kind of sound and flex from best buy.

Yeah this is true. But dont throw the W7 completely out. Im not a JL fan boy or anything but i have seen a build with a single W713 off of a JL 1000/1 with a custom built tube box hit 147 on TL. for those that dont know a tube box is taking alot of tubing cutting the angles and mounting the tubing together, depending on the length is the tuning. Its a weird looking box but highly effective. This is only one example. No it is not as good as RE or DD but its not "garbage".

i will make a guarantee any subwoofer of mass production from a company can produce good sound. At what frequency and sound level is a whole other story.... Alot of cheap brands subs are designs to be better on mids than lows and act more like a powered door speaker. Any subwoofer will produce good bass. I think your mixing a bad amp and a shitting signal with any speakers capability.
they make spl subs but for the most part they are sql subs. all the hand build aftermarket subwoofers shit on many mainstream manufactures in spl sql and sq in general. while people are paying 600 dollars for a 1000wrms subwoofer you could go and find a subwoofer that can take 2000wrms for 300dollars hand built out of a hell of alot better soft parts which are one of the main fails of these big companys
@241frozone Yeah. SPL subs sound like crap man. They get loud but some of us do like to listen to our music with a little less distortion and more reliability. Almost all SPL subs don't last more than a couple years. SQ subs can last a lifetime. Guess it just depends on what you want.
SQL subs are what I go for... I've been using TC Sounds for years and they're great, I can hit mid and upper 140's with a single 15" from them. That's plenty loud enough for me, and good SQ too.

@241frozone dd was built with just the highest quality possible for a reasonable price, they are what most consider sql. the Z series however is strictly spl.

JL is overpriced. You are right, Most RE's can beat JL's, and they are half the price of JL's. But JL's arent shit subs, they are just overpriced, which, I guess you could say makes them shitty in a way. Bottom line, go with DD and Resonant Engineering, but I wouldn't say JL's designs are shitty.

MTX prolly has one of the best subs as for component subs b/c the 9500 series was based on the TC i actually heard that TC designed the sub for MTX so other than that series mtx is eh ok. Personally i run a 15" Incriminator Audio Death Row off a sundown saz1000....n let me tell ya you will not get this kind of sound and flex from best buy.

RE and DD subs are SPL subs. stricly made for compitition. there not garbage ass component subs, like JL audio, Kickers, MTX, Pioneers, or Alpine and all that gay shiit. There SPL, you cant compare a JL w7, with a RE or DD sub, because these subs are ment for BASS, a regular 12" RE will sound louder than a JL w7.... why? because its jus like that!!!! why do u think SPL subs cost a shiiit load of money? Yeah this is true. But dont throw the W7 completely out. Im not a JL fan boy or anything but i have seen a build with a single W713 off of a JL 1000/1 with a custom built tube box hit 147 on TL. for those that dont know a tube box is taking alot of tubing cutting the angles and mounting the tubing together, depending on the length is the tuning. Its a weird looking box but highly effective. This is only one example. No it is not as good as RE or DD but its not "garbage".

i will make a guarantee any subwoofer of mass production from a company can produce good sound. At what frequency and sound level is a whole other story.... Alot of cheap brands subs are designs to be better on mids than lows and act more like a powered door speaker. Any subwoofer will produce good bass. I think your mixing a bad amp and a shitting signal with any speakers capability.

they make spl subs but for the most part they are sql subs. all the hand build aftermarket subwoofers shit on many mainstream manufactures in spl sql and sq in general. while people are paying 600 dollars for a 1000wrms subwoofer you could go and find a subwoofer that can take 2000wrms for 300dollars hand built out of a hell of alot better soft parts which are one of the main fails of these big companys

@241frozone Yeah. SPL subs sound like crap man. They get loud but some of us do like to listen to our music with a little less distortion and more reliability. Almost all SPL subs don't last more than a couple years. SQ subs can last a lifetime. Guess it just depends on what you want.
SQL subs are what I go for... I've been using TC Sounds for years and they're great, I can hit mid and upper 140's with a single 15" from them. That's plenty loud enough for me, and good SQ too.

@uglytiger23 They actually are top of the line. Both make a sub that is made for sound quality, but on the other hand both make a sub that is made for getting as loud as possible. They hit all areas of caraudio, which is what all of the companies are doing, along with making budget subs. Where 241frozone is correct, the name brands that you can get at say, bestbuy, are not comparable.

JL is overpriced. You are right, Most RE's can beat JL's, and they are half the price of JL's. But JL's arent shit subs, they are just overpriced, which, I guess you could say makes them shitty in a way. Bottom line, go with DD and Resonant Engineering, but I wouldn't say JL's designs are shitty.

@masterwolf1212 Comparing JL to DD is like apples an oranges. DD's have a higher FS rating and their suggested tuning frequency is much higher than a W7. I'd like to see a DD sub play flat down to 25hz. JL makes overpriced subwoofers that sound really good. If you want to be really loud than buy a DD woofer and put it in a enclosure turned to 30hz. Meanwhille I'll be doing hair tricks and shit.

Currently I'm Running A 2009 Model Fi BTL Fully Loaded 18" On A SAZ-3kd , But That Is Also In My Daily Driver. Only 1 DD Z18, with a whole lot off amps, it doesn't has an RMS rating, because they never got enough power, i think they played like at 30000W for a few minutes and it didn't blew or smelled.
