  • lol i still play the shit outta my saturn . CYBERIA :)

  • I remeber this commerical....it crept me out..

  • Mawwww hit it!

  • Is it just me, or has SEGA always been a little... odd about their advertisements?

  • Why are there no cool console or game ads these days? just shitty clips of the game being played or a fake NOT GAME FOOTAGE clip being played then a monotone emotionless voice say OUT NOW. I miss when ads were awesome

  • Actually the 21st century didn't start until 2001. The first century started at year 1 AD...add 2000 years to that.

  • RIP Sega on consoles

  • 70 people have never even heard of a sega saturn

  • sega saturn wouldve been good if they put rpg games on it but sega didnt believe rpg would be good in america

  • Pee ess tree mayk tha bess game

  • Everybody's Super Sonic Racing, try to keep your feet right on the ground! When you're Super Sonic Racing, there's no time to look around! We're just Super Sonic Racing, running to the point of no return! Everybody's Super Sonic Racing, c'mon let the fire burn.

    Everybody! (x15)

    (Repeat song)

  • Is that Paul Rudd?

  • Five years? The new millennium began on January 1st, 2001. I hate popular culture.

  • @crappyfilmproduction January 1st, 2000*

  • YOU ARE FIVE YEARS AWAY FROM ENTERING THE TWENTY FIRST CENTURY

    CENTURY

    CENTURY

  • They sent me this on VHS back in the day. I ended up getting a Saturn. Didn't regret it. I still think VF2 was better than any of the 3D fighting games to come out on PS1.

  • nowadays that guy known as kratos you see :D

  • If you listen to the choice cuts promo disc in a cd player it says "Warning, this disc is for use with a Sega CD system only"

  • that man its so creepy...

  • VIRTUA FIGHTER 2!!!!!!!

  • Fucking AWESOME!

  • As much as I love my Saturn, this video scares the shit out of me. It doesn't want to make me buy a console. Just piss my pants and remember to get a good night's sleep.

Imagine being the spouse and waking up to that Silver head every morning. It would certainly cause me to involuntarily evacuate my bowels every morning before I get a chance to pee to get rid of my confused morning boner.

  • ZORDON?!

  • Just noticed that cash cash remixed audio from this promo into their super sonic racing remix

    pretty ballin

  • GAH! I wasn't expecting that face at the beginning. XD

  • LOL so fucking 90s it hurts

  • I always looked at Sega as the evil and a bit experimental console. Thats why I love it. Black beauty

  • Ugh, terrible ad. I know I've seen this before -- I think it was on some sort of 'sampler' disc that come with the Saturn.

  • @dvsrt101 in the 90s, they just didnt know how to market this stuff. We seem to have cracked it now though

  • 0:11-0:28, Quan Chi's first appearance on a home console.

  • the good thing is sega saturns all over the place at a good price i was in mexico mexicali i saw like 20 sega saturns with out controls and plugs, but you can find htoses almost anymore just keep looking i still got my sega saturn, sega saturn will always be a classic machines, its really hard to emulate, speakin gof emulating they just came out with a sega saturn emulator for xbox

  • 1:19-1:21 "ooh I'm cumming!"

  • There's something slightly creepy about the man with the beard at 1:36 . Can't beat SEGA's marketing department!

  • PS one was better

  • @novembre8211 Got this system when I was 7 and still play it to this day 16 years later (unlike the PS1...PS2 is another story). The import library is crazy good and many of the exclusive PAL-titles are awesome. Made me a SEGA-player so can only recommend you to get a SAT and a regioncard to try it for yourself;)

Now happy there were no TV-ads for it in my parts of Europe. That grey face is nightmareinducing...and why is the gay ADHD-man wearing a "russian fuzzy hat"??

  • @wazzobazzo 90s my friend, 90s

  • Damnit, commercial, do you want to be pants-wettingly terrifying or gut-bustingly dorky and stupid? Make up your mind!

  • Thumbs up if the Sega Saturn Mission Remix of Super Sonic Racing in Sonic Generations brought you here.

  • 0:16 Now that's what I call "dated."

  • Sega Saturn, the most techonlogically advanced technologic system...anywhere-erehw!!!

  • Ya know how u watch sumthin like this an ya think its funny cuz it looks dated etc...im pretty sure that commercial was stupid when it came out.

  • cocane is one hell of a drug......

  • -.- they should have used segata sanshiro for the sega saturn adverts

  • When I heard the sound clips from this in SG, I preceded to shat bricks.

  • Haha. Sonic Team actually used extracts from the promo in the new Super Sonic Racing remix from Sonic Generations.

  • we,re 5 years away to entree the 21st centure, but then 2 years later in 1997 one spoke man had said this fetal words, sega saturn is NOT our future, oops he sudenly backfired hi,s own business.

another problem was that the saturn not only was difficuilt to programm it dit,nt had much 3d capabilitiees,so 3d had to be done trough software.

  • lol Why the hell did they remixed that ad in Super Sonic Racing? :D

  • The Sega Saturn commercials were lame as hell,no wonder the Saturn flopped in the U.S and Europe.Had they had good commercials the system would have sold a-lot more and would have given Third Party developers an incentive to develop for that very difficult to develop for system.

  • we are 5 years away from interactive "CUM"

  • @JayKaySpliff DurhamrockerZ much?

  • @darkjj25 What on earth makes you say that, lol

  • Is that Kratos?

  • So were the people responsible for this eventually brought on to Sony's marketing staff?

  • I'm just gonna say this: parts of this video have been used in the remix of Super Sonic Racing for Sonic Generations.

Just thought you'd like that tidbit of info there.

  • Post

  • playstation released first before sega saturn

  • @syahmi7899

Playstation was better for 3d games. but sega saturn was more of a arcade machine that handles 2d games very fast.

  • @syahmi7899 no it didn't

  • If I saw this commercial I would be like this: What? WHAT? Saturn? WTF? Game Console? WTF? What? I want this. I WANT THIS!

  • Is that Uncle Fester?

  • In Japan they had Sanshiro (great) and in the US we had a gay albino and a pothead dancing around. Bad, bad, bad marketing.

  • Sega got Kratos and Chester A. Bum in their commercials before they were famous!

  • Comment removed

  • Kratos worked for Sega before God of War...

  • @Warborn666 hahahahaha

  • kratos needed the money

  • Sega Saturn had a potential, but numerous processors ( 6 ) instead of one, and an added second CPU to add more power made the programming for it a nightmare. Unfortunately, add the terrible commercials and marketing and you have the disaster that it had. I remember the Saturn boxes in a clearance bin at Toys R Us. They were $29.99 each. That's each Saturn system and still, no one bought it. I could see this guy's head over that bin laughing and saying "Welcome to the 21st Century ha ha ha!".

  • Comment removed

  • too bad that their proccesor was shit to program anything to.

  • @gethsoftware Incorrect. Look at VF2 and the potential was there, just difficult program.

  • @cRIPticon yes, that is what i said. it was difficult to program. that, and the sega bailing out on saturn. it lost lot of support.

  • @gethsoftware The processor wasn't shit, just a difficult multi-processor architecture.

  • @cRIPticon - And besides, the original Shenmue tech demo for the Saturn shows just how much can you do on the platform given that you know how to write software for it.

  • @cRIPticon Sega will get no excuses from me personally. There was no need for even going with the multi- processor design except the design was cheaper to produce so that they could still charge a premium for the package while paying less for overall production. They had a notorious history of poor marketing and the Saturn's processor stands as one such business strategy that backfired. Now the processor was difficult to programm for and developers were overlooking them for the Playstation.

  • shitty promo for a shitty console :D

  • @darkcogollo20 Shitty promo for a console that was released and marketed wrong there is a difference

  • @darkcogollo20 For an amazing, but unapreciated console.

  • KRATOS

  • im on acid. watching this was a baaaaaaaaaaad idea.......

  • @assyerick88 youre lying. unless its shit acid. you shouldnt be aware of such a thing

  • i still have mine, and it still works, except when i play it, the controllers apparently electrocute me...

  • Holy... Was That Paul Rudd??

  • I REMEMBER IT LOLLLLLLLL

    awsome

  • Zordon's more evil than Lord Zedd was.

  • The Saturn was over engineered, that was its problem.

  • "Play your games in the 21st Century"

SEGA fans only got to do that for about a year!

  • Now bear my arctic blast!

  • seriously.......90's drugs were fuckin insane.....

  • Sadly, Saturn never made it to the 21st century. But it did have one of the best RPGs of all time. Panzer Dragoon Saga.

  • @xsnrgman your right on that.

  • Cutting edge 3D indeed, was playing Hardcore 4x4 and even the computer players didn't know what the fuck was track and what was a wall

  • Kratos

  • Kratos!! ???? lol

  • I got this on VHS tape in the mail. Probably watched it a few hundred times as a kid because it was mind blowing back then.

  • Who the fuck thought people would buy a saturn by looking at this shit??

  • Too bad the hardware of this system was so...jumbled and hard to program, if it were easy to program, the graphics would be better than psx and maybe even n64's, but this is all history.

  • Play your games in the 21st century? The system did not even survive the 20th Century! lol

  • @Patrick19833

    lmao

  • God, I want to go back in time and punch that guy with the orange hat in the mouth.

  • what's parappa the rapper up to at the beginning?

  • Comment removed

  • I love this system so much even though all the games look pretty horrible.

  • aaaahh bug! one of my favorite old games

  • to bad this system sucked :(

  • Gtfoh

  • Uhh. How much was the budget for this video?

  • This ad is shittier than the new iPhone ads.

  • Sega Saturn 21st century technology? Lets not get carried away now...

  • Dualcore LOL

  • Not Kratos... That's definitely Quan Chi.

  • @moosa17 Yup.

  • weak

  • This commercial would make me NOT want to get this.

  • YouTube Poop in the 90's

  • this is my least favorite system good desighn shitty games

  • @luchopipo79 Okay saying that it has shitty games indicates me that you never experienced the Sega Saturn.

  • dont u just wish u can bring somebody from the past and show them the latest games?even high end pc games?!

  • @thenunez96 that would be epic O_o

Or how about someone from the future showed us their games!

  • @supermantahoo haha yeah

  • @thenunez96 show then daikatana to scare them :P

  • Meet PS3

  • Man I still got my Saturn. I want to invite Zordon and Cat in the hat guy to come over and play.

  • but will it blend?

  • Have you ever noticed that all the old video game commercials from back in the 90's are like bad acid trips? xD

  • It's awesome to look at these old games, and then to go and watch Battlefield 3 gameplay and see how far graphics have come. :)

  • the spokespeople laughed like crackheads...sure says alot about SEGA....

  • Where's Segata Sanshiro.

  • Quan Chi

  • after seeing this spot I know why the Saturn failed.

  • @kicknetik

Well, the real reason was because Sega of America made the stupidest move ever: releasing the Saturn six months before Sony Computer Entertainment America released the PlayStation in America. This was in direct contrast to what happened in Japan in 1994 (Sony released the PlayStation before Sega released the Saturn, and both consoles gained pretty much equal praise there -- heck, even the Japanese Saturn lived till 2000-2001, unlike our Saturn).

  • Fuck Sony for ruining Sega.

  • @LoveoneAn lol its kind of funny how the playstation even came about to.

  • Pretty sure Sega had the worst ads ever

  • What game is that at 1:25?

  • @CyberIce2000 Solar eclipse I believe.

  • @Bamazrollin It's not Solar Eclipse. I know that much. Anyone else know?

  • @CyberIce2000 Yeah actually it is solar eclipse..

  • @Bamazrollin I'm talking about that scene where the lady says "Incoming!". I know that's not Solar Eclipse because I've played and beaten Solar Eclipse many times and that scene is not in that game.

  • @CyberIce2000 I think it is a mech game called Ghen War

  • @Nanoforge1 Thank you! That's it!

  • ahhh the 90s.... how I love thee <3

  • I miss this kind of pshycadelic commercials.

  • this is like looking back at a really bad photo of yourself wearing the sweather grandma got you for christmas as a child ..... EMBARASSING!

  • since everyone else is sharing... i was born in 1996, i grew up on the ps1 and my babysitters nintendo 64. i still have the ps1 but obviously my babysitter is in college and stopped watching me when i got older. i still have my ps1, ps2, and a couple years ago our family got a ps3. they are all awesome systems but im not a "fanboy" or whatever. they're my favorites but i like all the classic sega, nes, whatever systems. i also like the xboxes and pc. k, i'm done.

  • @TheFarjack Too bad you never had a Sega Saturn.

  • @CyberIce2000 yea it is too bad... sometimes i wish i had been born in the 80sso i could experience alll these great old gaming systems... oh well

  • this is kinda creepy XD

  • I still have a VHS tape Sega mailed to my house with this video on it.

I was in some mailing list of theirs.

In the end Saturn's downfall was the complexity to program games for it.

But it was still an awesome system.

Nothing will ever beat the first time hearing

He music from Daytona in my own living room. "Rolling staaaart!!!!!"

  • That pasty dude looks like Marcus doing Kratos cosplay.

  • wow this add is TERRIBLE. I love sega too but this add is just plane bad.

  • in 1995 ps 1 was out an it was revolutionary

  • '95, the year I was born... Wow!!! I'm gonna be a Junior in High School, where does time fly?

I remember putting the sega genesis away in a cardboard box with foam because my older brother had finally gotten the sega dreamcast. We were giving the sega genesis away. Funny thing was that being around late toddler age I had no idea what the fudge it was until my brother told me a year after having the dreamcast. He told me that the sega saturn was crap and had worse graphics than its rivals PS1

  • @Crayolapup '98 the year I was born, I remember wondering what the heck a Gamecube was as my older brother tried to teach me to play

  • Now dont get me wrong I like both sega and nintendo and if id been alive back then id have a tough time picking which system to buy, but if you ask me sega has noone to blame but themselves for eventually becoming nintendos bitch with sony and microsoft taking turns when nintendo gets tired, sonic cd and knuckles chaotix shouldve been standard genesis games, and sega shouldnt have given up on the saturn they shouldve finished sonic x treme

  • the early nintenties ads for videogames were so crazy and over the top.... and also pretty weird by now.

I bought a Saturn at launch with virtua fighter and I had a CD with this video plus many other trailers on it.... it was called Sega Saturn Promo '95 or something.

  • @kevenzz Haha ya man I had the same one with mine. Also they used to run short versions of this commercial on TV a lot.

  • and then came the ps1...

  • KRATOS!!!

  • The bald head that's supposed to be serious -- I laughed at.

The douchebag that's supposed to be funny -- I cringed at.

    This ad fails so much.

  • Ok that was pretty awesome but what's with the guy dancing?

  • @kmoss1122 It was the mid-90s. Everybody was dancing... and wearing silly headgear.

  • Now that I've watched it all, this actually isn't the entire promo video tape they mailed to Saturn owners back in 95. There is a lot more game previews plus awesome collection of commercials from Sega's Theater of the Eye series.

  • This is when game advertising was wonderfully twisted. How could you NOT stop and see what the hell this was on a TV?

  • @ccantrell31 well when i saw this comercial back in 95 my first reaction was :did someone spiked my drink cause i swear i thought i was tripping balls

  • When that grey guy showed up and reminded me to smoke bong loads.

  • kortum onlara binice noluyor

  • kortum onlara binice uzayamı gidicem

  • my favorite games on the saturn? panzer dragoon2

  • And Sonic? D:

  • D:

    CUTE! n.n

  • i blame american marketing for its failure.....saturn was a sucess in japan

  • Five years until the beginning of the 21st century. Don't worry, we'll kill this and have a new system of the gaming future ready before then.

  • 666 likes...yikes...didnt know Saturn was the perferrred console of Hell

  • wiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiierd ads !!

  • seeggaaaa..... SATUUUUUUUUURRRRRNNNNN

  • If Segata Sanshiro were here, he would have beaten the living crap outta the dancing guy

  • WTF?
