this is like sooo informative and major bitchen' . think it'll help me with my PSY 201 course! and yes , demo18wr, I bet it makes even more sense on some good herbals. :)
I find it funny that scientists study the brain and neurotransmitters and can explain the basics but have absolutely no clue what goes on in there in more detail and then make medication that can help (for ex. with depression) but do not do so on more microscopic level
@Gioko100 True. SSRIs were designed from the theory of low synaptic serotonin (monoamines in general). This was later disproved for almost all depressive disorders. In fact, depressive disorders can be associated with excessive serotonergic activity on some areas of the brain. That's why SSRIs at first worsen the symptoms and then start working after 4-6 weeks. Downregulation of serotonin receptors and production by autoreceptors.
@igorhb very good answer you definately know more than I do about neuroscience and I do admit it is a difficult field of study the brain is a complicated organ and it requires lifelong studies to understand it on the macro/microscopic levels
At long last, a decent upload displaying the brains neurotransmitters, after much searching. Thank you, THANK YOU!!!
