Watch the studio video of the bass, guitar, and drums and you'll see this is more of a technical composition than their usual work. The main riff has a lot of hammer on notes too, which are softer, less defined, and you may find "erratic". The drumming is a very standard snare-kick method, dunno why that'd be seen as "batshit". Truth is, this band rarely does melodies. More like a huge bulldozer of rhythm.
