hey buddy i play mario a lot and this is just a tip it is a lot easier to go to the 5th or 6th star and take the turtle shell and one more thing ||||| anyone who doesnt know what mario says when he enters the levels|||| he says lets-a go

This is a really hard level to play. When I had this game, I would also fall into the lava especially trying to get the red coins and the yellow coins. What I mostly liked about the game was getting the coins.

I know loads of guys that worked on this and all the other Mario titles since the NES.

Get enough Stars to get into Bowser's Dark World, beat Bowser there and use the Key you get to unlock the basement.

Why not use the Turtle shell from the beginning of the level? Using that 1) makes you invulnerable to the lava 2)makes it easier to get to all the coins 3) goes much faster.
