  • i heart haiti

  • That haitian man is so happy to be there. Always happy...Haha I love haitians.

  • I don't think she was that rude as much as she was trying to teach him instead.

  • simmillar as mauritian creole..

  • Mwen dako, li bezwen kite l pale pli lol. Li ta poze keysyon an epi kite l reponn.

  • very easy to get used to i u speak a french dialect from all parts of the world !!

  • Sounds like africanized version of french.

  • @Stone8age now that was stupid....

  • It is 85% french.

  • This is an interesting idea and a good idea. I know you are enthusiastic, but next time let the guy speak. You keep talking over the guy who actually knows how to pronounce it correctly.

  • @dcfreak23 I wonder if she can say Mooo, in French.

  • Haitian Creole is to French, what Jamaican Patois and Kriol is to English.

  • I live in Montreal, there's a HUGE Haitian population here. I'm only JUST getting used to the Quebecois french, the Haitian french is just driving me nuts. If you speak french, you're at a huge advantage, but it's NOT easy to understand. Also, stop going to foreign countries and bludgeoning them with your nonsensical Christianity.

  • @D0ug91 You need to keep your worthless religious unbelief's to yourself.

  • @BalkanDeputy Take your worthless religious delusions out of the public square first.

  • lan med

  • Here's an idea: put in writing how the native speaker says these phrases. Much more helpful for students to retain and internalize these expressions. I don't know why you put the English in writing, anyone watching this probably knows these things already.

  • I`m looking for ways to learn creole. I need it. Please anybody can give me a web site or a video or any link to do it. Thanks

  • she seems sweet and well-meaning, but i agree it would be better to hear the native speaker pronounce the expressions first without interruption.

  • Lionel looked kinda annoyed. :D

he kinda had a right to be...

  • she was extremely rude always talking over him. It was extremely hard to hear his pronounciation over her talking. jeez -_-

  • nice smile :D hahaa

  • My family is from St. Lucia so I'm really interested in learning this! :3

  • He's so sweet and smiley!

  • yea this is one of the wost Kreyol videos ive seen they should have put the phrases up in both languages. And @filmchica, this language is not just french and spanish components this language also comes from the roots of Africa as it was a slave language in origin.

  • awe he was sweet

  • no es una leccion para aprender a comunicarse con la gente!!!! solo para defenderse "no se!, no hablo creol, no me interesa" :/

  • hubiera sido mejor que Lionel dijera todo, esta mujer es :/

  • Same as French? The word for million is funny, Milyon dola. Million dollars lol

  • “Mwen pa ka tande ou”----It means “I can’t hear you”

Haitian Kreyol in sound and words takes it main pronunciation from African dialects, with French and other language as ingredients. A proud language derived from slave ancestry. We mustn’t forget Africa. Hear the motherland?

  • @esre34 haitan creole in its vocabulary is 90% French

  • @esre34 what does baise en femme dan son trou fesse kaka mean an creole?

  • @MYTRB lmfaoooooooo

  • @esre34 Exactly. I am so proud of our African heritage and will never denounce it by just saying that I am Haitian. Haitian people are initially African people - the only difference is we were shipped from Africa to Hispaniola and had to adjust and develop a new lifestyle which resulted in us becoming known as Haitians. I will always remember and embrace our African heritage.

  • "mission trips"? booo

    learning haitian creole? yay!

  • bonjour come cava bien caca mamasita

  • Thank you so much for posting this!!

  • it's really close to Mauritian creole....

  • Creol is a cool language, guys good job. You should put on the market a special video about learning practical creol for people who need to learn creol. This language sound cool, and it is also close to french, english and spanish.

Good job my friend. I love you guys.

  • Man this is so cool. I'm learning french now (because I just moved to Montreal), and I could understand most of the things you're saying. Not only can I communicate, with Quebecois, but also Hiatiens. That is so cool.

  • Goshhh this is French which another pronouciation... Pretty easy for French speaker. ^^

  • It would have been good if subtitles were provided for the things said in Creole. We already speak English so we don't need to see subtitles for what is being said in English you people have it backwards lol. Good video with useful phrases though.

  • Haitian Creole is so easy, I am a French speaker, and I understand everythings in this video.

  • Haitian Creole is so easy, I think French speaker can easily understand

  • @kasongo888 Not really, these are simple expressions, listening to kreyol you'd have an idea about what they're speaking but not easily understand everything.

  • This was hard to watch...she is really rude to him and cuts him off. Too distracting. Wow...next video...

  • Thank you i am going to Haiti in July for a missions trip and i want to learn the language thank you so much

  • guayacana07 it looks like -creole is broken french we also speak creole in the mascarehnas region-Mauritius,La Reunion,Rodrigues &Seychelles.Nu coze kreol avek diferan akcen.

  • Can someone that speaks proper French understand Haitian Creole and viceversa?

  • @guayacan07 people speaking quebec dialect can understand créole almost instinctively. Quebec dialect has a lot of common grounds with créole. Ie: "sek y s'passe" in qc dialect is equivalent to "sakpasé" in créole. see the ressemblance? So I dont know about french speaker from france or other places in the world. but definetly quebecers will get créole easily.

  • @ParkLeeNa Thats because Creole is based off of 18th century French not modern Parisian French. However as a French and Haitian Kreyol speaker, People from Quebec, and I should say some, but they are very hard for me to understand especially the country people. I understand France French alot better than Quebecois French.

  • @ParkLeeNa Yeah joile is kind of similar in some ways since it stems from the same language.

  • @guayacan07 Yeah If I can concentrate I can understand pretty much. Creole is actually like speaking french but removing useless words. Per example, you would usually say Im going to the bathroom. Creole would be Me going bathroom. Or where is he would become He where? lol i hope you get it

  • I was in Haiti in Port-Au-Prince in May 2010.

  • is there anyone here that speaks english was wrong-it's 'eske gen moun la ki pale anglais?' or 'ki moun la pale anglais'

  • li pa pale bon kreyol, we

  • my family is going to host a little girl from Haiti in our home when she comes over to America for heart surgery... this will be really helpful... thanks!!

  • I, me, my, = Mwen ou = you nou = we yo = they When = ki lè Who = ki ès what = ki sa where = ki bò don't = pa (used for negation) a pi ta = later Na wè pi ta = See you later a demen / na wè demen = see you tomorrow mwen pa konprann = I don’t understand mwen byen = I’m fine Na wè ankò = See you soon Ki kote (liv) la ye? = where’s the book? Ki kote (ou) ye? = where are you? Ki kote ou soti = Where are you from Mwen bezwen èd = I need help ede’m = help me ou konprann? Do you understand?
  • Bonjou = Good morning Bonswa = Good afternoon Bòn nwi = Goodnight Kòman’w ye? = how are you? Kòman’w rele? = What’s your name? Ki non ou? = What’s your name? Mwen rele __ = my name is non mwen se __ = my name is Sil vou plè/ sil te plè / souple = please Mèsi = Thank you de ryen = You’re welcome! Merite = You’re welcome. Wi = yes Non = no o revwa = bye bye Eske’w pale kreyòl? = Do you speak Creole Mwen pa pale kreyòl = I don’t speak Creole Eske’w pale angle? = Do you speak English?
  • is that usain bolt?

  • Mwen byen does not mean very good. She's mixing creyol up with Spanish (muy bien) mwen byen means I'm well. Creyol is not broken French, it is a language in its own right and a French speaker does not necessarily understand it!

  • This is great! My french will serve me well in July!

  • When I was there I just spoke French, and though only tourist workers actually spoke it, the masses could still understand me. All French who say they can't understand Creole are IDIOTS. I'm Swedish for god's sake (but fluent in French), and even to me Creole is a child's play.

  • @AndreDevecserii You're overestimating your abilities. What you're seeing here is the most basic, introductory creole that just about anyone can learn. Try watching a film or a comedy in creole and THEN tell me that it's child's play. The French cannot understand Creole because it is a separate language, for you to say that it's child's play is arrogant.

  • @lexdiamonds1990 Overestimating my abilities? You've got to be joking! I've had deep conversations with several Haitians without any major understanding problems. Yes it is a separate language, that I don't question, but if you concentrate, most (but of course not all) of the language is intelligible especially if spoken slowly and clearly, which of course Haitians do with tourists. Don't forget that it is actually 92% French.

  • lé pareil le créole la réunion !

  • En pe parey mon kreol pour mwan - Sesel!

  • Bonjou, Mwen aprann Kreyol. I am a PT and have a few Haitian patients. If any one has great resources or help, souple...send them to me. Mesi beucou. Passe bon jounne.

  • ce haitien est charmant mmmm

  • could you put the creole in text caption as well?

  • this ladies accent is terrible.. I know she isn't Haitian or french but damn at least try to say the stuff right. I hate people who try to speak and dont even attempt to try to pronouce stuff right.

  • @albrown34 you do know that to pronounce a word the right away you ear has to be able to dissect the subtle sounds in real time.I have trouble speaking english I can't wrap my tongue around the language I can't help it.Then i get mad and I start ranting in French lol!

  • @albrown34

Most people feel like asses when they try to speak it properly because they have no way if they're overdoing it, so most people prefer to just not try.

  • @albrown34 i at least respect the fact that she's making an attempt to learn the language and going to haiti.

  • It's very similar to informal French!

  • God Bless the mission...just do it the right way/ legal way...thanks...

    Good job///

  • Nice one!. Only just begun hunting this stuff on Youtube. I want to visit the Dominican Rep this year, I guess creole spoken there is the same?

  • @dadubmaster

yeah there are tons of haitians living there. most of them work in the sugar cane fields or go to school there if they come from rich families in haiti.

  • This is also spoken in st.lucia and other caribbean islands..

  • very nice :)

  • la femme est carrément indélicate

  • Pourquoi?

  • Creole is mainly based off of french with hints of Spanish. That translator is better at creole than he is in english.

  • My goodness, its the combined version of french and spanish! Okay, okay, I can do this

  • @Filmchicahaitian is not a combined version of spanish and french...it may have some spanish loanwards sach as muy in muy bien but it is derived from middle french.

  • What is middle french?

  • @Filmchica the french that was spoken before modern french

  • Creole: "Mwen byen" = Me good

Spanish: Muy bien = very good

Creole to French: Mwen = Moi

The "Mwen" stands for "Me", not "Very".

The meaning of the words are French, but ... the way it is say is more Spanish.

    complicated! lol

  • @hujispyro actually bien is good in french as well but the muy must be from spanish...there is not much spaish in creole.

  • its not muy bien it mwen bien

  • @Filmchica It's French and Afrikaan language combined.

  • @Filmchica Not really just a phonetic broken down french really with a really small hint of Spanish influence. But in essence its a broken down french pronounced with African over tone. But no actual African words though.

  • @Filmchica u didn't know that..........

  • @MaStErPhReSh333 Um. No, because I don't know anyone from the country so I wouldn't know what it sounds like. Jeeze.

  • @Filmchica lmao guess my sarcasm didn't get through

  • @Filmchica No its not spanish combination. Its african french and latin. Some words are close to spanish only because french and spanish both come from latin. Im haitian and we aint biters expecially when it come to our language.!

  • Spanish influence -

    muy bien - very good

what is your name - como.... how

I hear much much french in this vid.

it sounds like a modified French more than anything else.

  • @gamrkidd it;s moi bien

  • @gamrkidd "Bien" is also French. "Como" is Spanish like you said, but it's also French-- spelled "commment"... also meaning how. :) I love how all these Romance languages intertwine.

  • creol is o easy to pick up, even if u speak french!

loads of similar words as mauritian creol, mari facil sa!

  • Wow, i am from mauritius and we do speak creole but it's kinda different from this creole. :)

  • its mad this lol

  • Wow, my dads from St Lucia and they speak a very similar French Crreole to Haitian creole.

  • si ou vle ou kapab.. :)

  • I was watching this and i was blown away. I speak creole fluently (a shame i dnt know how to write or hardly read it). I know how to speak it commonly, in this video not many haitians speak like this, just like spanish we have ways to break down the language to speak faster, so beware

  • je suis haitienne (demi) mais je n'aime pas la parole--Je prefere francais parceque il est la langage convenable. (Don't get me wrong, I just think its too late for me to learn it. Why learn it when you can learn french in school?)

  • ????

  • I prefer to believe that it's best to know both. Je suis haitienne et je parle francais aussi, mais je pense c'est necessaire d'etre capable de communiquer en les deux langues. Mwen paka yon haitien pou-m pa pale langue nan...creole se sa parents mwen kite pou mwen (my inheritance)... fok mwen apran li.

  • this is crazy, I understood everything, they're practically speaking french... j'ai tous compris!

  • lol. yet u cant write french correctly... it's j'ai touT compris.

but its jsut one error. c'est pas grave lol

  • Creole is a mix of french, english, indian, spanish and original words.

  • that is so cool, I had no idea!

  • He should do a vid by himself because the lady makes it difficult to pick it up the words sometimes. She's stumbling over words and talking over the guy.

I agree she is very annoying.

I also agree that the guy has a very nice smile

    ;-)

  • Just not jsut lol

  • He has a cute smile! :) he seems like such a nice guy!

  • Haitians are nice in general.. they are just pretty untrusting of you because they are frustrated by life and its hardships.

  • she is so annoying, stop talking over his pronounciations, so people can hear the right way to say it.

  • @whatpeoplewantonline oh come on. she's like super nice and friendly!

  • this is a good video, [thumbs up]

  • LIONEL NEEDS TO SPEAK CREOLE HIMSELF.

  • se sa nou haitien gen la kay nou: "maque d'apreciation". no pa gen sa yo rele apretiation an la kay nou du tou

  • lol you right!

  • lol lMesye sa pa pale bon kreyol la.,,,

  • he sure does.... e ou ou pale bon creole la?

  • wi mwen pale li sa ou te kwe`. L'ap pale yon kreyol moun ki soti nan rak bwa.

  • Comment removed

  • That was very helpful...thanks!!

  • i just love how americans suck at every language except english lol. cant speak any language correctly besides english. even in english they arent too shabby. lol

    no offense though

  • Than you obviously don't know many Americans. My fiancee is Haitian and I speak more languages than him. I'm glad I know enough about Haitians to know that your ignorance isn't a widely shared Haitian mentality.

  • lol because english is in the top 10 of the most spoken languages around the world. australia, canada, us, guyana, ghana. maybe if you knew chinese and were trying to learn english you would suck, fag.
