The reason ist that Fagus crenata doesnt grow as high as Fagus sylvaticus. Great Video, btw. Know I know where to go next Summer. Some other very beatyfull mountain virginforests are on the slopes of Piatra Crauilui and Bucegi. And there is another great Beech Forest wich I consider as a virgin forest too, but it`s very unknown. It's situated on the the ridge of Magura Codlei near Brasov.
@DeltaNordicAdvance As far as I am informed even in the largest virgin beech forest of the world - Schirakami Sanchi in Japan, - there are beech trees only 29 meters tall...

I've seen some big beech trees but never anything over 30m. Amazing.
