The 1/4 mile was great back in the muscle car era. However, 1/4 mile races are too short for today's cars. They're just acceleration contests and japs make cars with all wheel drive and "slam the gas and don't worry about spinning tires" launch control that basically do all the work for you. Make it a one-mile race, remove speed limiters, and really let them get up to speed.
If it wasn't for the mustang being so freaking powerful and burnin rubber at the start it would have won....I would choose it any day over the gtr....and just wait until the 2013 gt500 that car will be unstopable!
the super snake has something the gtr will never have--balls. besides, the gtr gets its ass whooped by the super snake AND the z06 at nurbergring, so it doesnt matter. if you want to see a real race, watch zr1 vs 599 vs gt2 vs gtr.

Infact the Ferrari 458 uses practically the same technology as the GTR but only being rear wheel drive, which makes it abit more aggressive in the corners and alot less weight to throw about with. I do understand what you are saying but its producing impressive time laps and thats exactly what it was designed for.

An average AWD system weighs roughly 150- 220 KG, so that would mean the Mustang would need lighter materials, all interior weight out just to equal out the power balance. It would make massive improvements on traction but for corning wise would need alot of work. LOL

@igjoe2007 Actually the Nissan GTR was voted by MotorTrend as one of the best drivers cars of the year. Thats exactly why it is featured in "World's Greatest Drag Race." Fact is the GTR does not drive for you, its does use a dual clutch transmission which can either be used manually or automatically. @igjoe2007 Basically the Ferrari 458, Bugatti Veyron and Mclaren MP4 all use dual clutch transmissions which can be used either manual or automatic. Infact the Ferrari 458 uses practically the same technology as the GTR but only being rear wheel drive, which makes it abit more aggressive in the corners and alot less weight to throw about with. I do understand what you are saying but its producing impressive time laps and thats exactly what it was designed for.

@igjoe2007 Fact is if a Mustang was to have an AWD system it would weigh atleast 2,000KG, considering already the 2008 stock Mustang SS weighs 1,779 KG. An average AWD system weighs roughly 150- 220 KG, so that would mean the Mustang would need lighter materials, all interior weight out just to equal out the power balance. It would make massive improvements on traction but for corning wise would need alot of work. LOL

LOL Without the packages they go for around $74,900. The reason why the 1960's Shelby Mustang's go for around $300,000 because they are known as classics (rare cars).
