  • Flexibility stretches are really relaxing too. It helps if you point your toes while stretching. Plus flexibility doesn't happen overnight so you have to keep doing the stretches to see results. :)

    Basically sit on your bottom, bring your feet into your ass and lean forward.

    but yeah, i've watched videos that are 5 minutes long, with 2 minutes of introduction and graphics flying across teh screen.

    at least these guys get to the point. they still own your 79 seconds, though.

  • is it wierd i can go into the butterfly position with my thighs completely touching the floor and my heels together and about 2 inches from my groin (bent over so that elbows nearly touch the floor), yet when i try to touch my toes im still a good 7 inches off? lol (i'm about 5'9 btw)

  • haha yes it is! You just gotta stretch the different muscles in your legs everyday until you can achieve it. It just takes a long time. But don't rush yourself! you could really mess up your muscles.

    most defenetly, gaining flexibility is like gaining muscle strength, although idk if it would've happened quicker when you were younger, im 19 now and been stretching since about 16-17 and ive gotten HUGE movement range improvements

I'm 12 and i just started stretches to do the splits and I've been told that I can't do the splits starting so late. D:

  • @TeamJacob1903 very untrue. i'm 19 and i have been stretching for about a year. i was not flexible in anyway before i started stretching. now my arabesques are higher and i'm almost completely able to do a split. if i were more disciplined, i am sure i could go all the way, but alas, i only stretch at dance rehearsals and classes. lol.

  • @maejhoi i started casually stretching for the splits when i was 19 got very close to it when i was 20, then i got out of college and didnt have as much time to stretch so now im going on 22 and i am restretching for the splits and im not having much trouble getting there

  • @maejhoi yes unless you're old enough to start developing things like arthitis and other problems you can still work on your flexibility, the only reason why they don't like to take new comers that are like 20 years old in gymnastics clubs is because the teachers there are hoping to find olympic talent or as close as they can get, just because you're too old to become an olympic gymnast, it doesn't mean that you're too old to increase flexibility, there is an olympic gymnast who's about 33ish
