I've now watched quite a few of your videos and you seem like a really nice guy. My favorite is the 'fake jazz' video. ("Play this for twenty minutes and impress your friends.' Funny stuff.)
Interesting little double with the right hand at the end of your fills. I've noticed you do it on other videos too? It gives the roll a more fuller finish and adds a "punch" at the end. Depending on your tunning, it gives the roll a double-kick illusion. I suppose it could be construed as a poor-man's-triplet.
good job! i need to praactice the KISS method (keep it simple stupid) i got "grounded" from using the toms from my music leader today cuz i end up coming in a half beat off and then gotta rush into the next beat.... so before i get good good i gotta get supper solid!
any other advise for me? ive been playing for two years, i can do the fancy stuff just cant come in on perfect time.
That's interesting microtiming you do there, laid back but in time, fits the song just right and adds to it. Unusual style with the HiHat produces nice accents in the sound, like waves. Very lively drumming. Thanks!
No-. It is actually 100% all natural sound/echo/reverb/whatever you want to call it. I am in a drum booth which wuold usually kill/dampen most of the sound, but instead of keeping the door closed to the booth, Ileft it open, so the sound is now escaping the room, travelling into a room which is primarily tile and is very large. That is how I am getting that massive sound.
i love your snare and your drumming !
