zimmer really needed Howards expertise to pull it off..i reckon he sucked him off while howard actually played it in midi keyboard. Zimmer the kinda of composer that writes music like this..."yes i vud like it tu go like...."na na na, na na na, na na na! fa la la la la..dat is gud yah? yes! i like vevy much!''yah yah Pls! somebody who knows muzac, write down now those funny notes with stems and black heads correctly!! for dis i pay u 20 million dollars!! ya ya ya i like!
I personally think its little wierd that heath ledger gave then the best performance of his life and possibly anyones ever then he died like less then a month after filming
i had a debate with lots of people on a forum n what not and the only actor i could agree with playing as the joker right now would be johnny depp and he still wouldnt be as great.
You never know; Johnny Depp takes on a variety of roles. But essentially I agree with you; I didn't expect this kind of performance from Ledger (not saying that I thought he was a bad actor before; just didn't know what was going to happen) and no one was better for the role than him.
I agree with you a hundred percent. I NEVER in a thousand years to expect this type of performance from heath. I always knew he was a great actor but his career was established inside of romantic or dram genre films. I didnt even know how D.K. would turn out. And johnny is one of my favorite actors. If anyone could pull it off to some extent it would be him.
The only problem with Depp is that, well, there's such an immersion factor if the actor hasn't been seen in a lot of movies. What I'm trying to get at is that a lot of people wouldn't be able to look past Johnny and wouldn't actually see "The Joker, who was played by Johnny Depp," but would see, "Johnny Depp, who happened to play the Joker," if you get what I mean.
Right, and everyone thought Ledger would be perfect for this role before WB started aggressively marketing this film?
Seriously, these kinds of discussions are getting annoying. No one, and I mean no one knows if someone could pull off this kind of role with the Joker better than Ledger in the future. And that's where the whole annoying part of these discussions come about. If another actor plays the Joker, then he doesn't have too do BETTER than Ledger, he just has to meld into the role. -_-
Thanks you Zeong3. Finally, someone here that has intelligence when discussing a topic regarding roles. The actors should 'be' the role, 'act into the role', not just read off their lines with vocal variety.
I believe that Ledger did set a very high standard for the role of the Joker in future Batman movies; the actor who inherits the role has to not only meld into the role, but because now everyone worships Ledger-Joker, they'll want (and expect) whoever carries the torch next to, well, meld a bit into Ledger. It's unfair for the actor, but people are narrow-minded in that way.
I hear that Depp might do it, I think he would do a good job. But I personally would rather see his own interpritation than him trying to portray Ledgers Joker. It takes away from the actors true style when they have to try and (almost) duplicate the role of the last film in circumstances like this.
That's the problem. If they replace Heath, the replacement actor will have to do what Heath did. Otherwise it just wouldn't transition well. It would be awkward to see a completely different interpretation in a sequel(the role of Rachel was an exception because that particular role can be warped easily into the plot).
Well, according to Arkham Asylum, Joker may have some sort of "super-sanity", which means that he basically creates his personality into whatever kind of person that benefits him the most in his situation, ranging from goofy trickster (Cesar Romero) into a crazed sociopath (Ledger). So IF Joker is played by different actor, he doesn't have to copy Ledger 100%, giving him bit more freedom in his role.
To me, there is no such thing as THE Joker. There are near infinite number of different Jokers inside the severely damaged mind of the man who we see as "Joker". Whatever it is that happened to him, let's assume the acid bath, shattered his personality in countless pieces, and he is maybe subconsciously trying to build himself back together, using "Joker" as mask to have something that can interact with outside world, unfortunately it isn't a permanent and it breaks down time to time...
I'm playing "two-faced Harvey", "introduce a little anarchy" and the "Dark Knight" for our band concert.

Roflmao, why do you get angry? If you're an anarchist, you should be happy, Joker's all about anarchy.

They are both awesome, in my opinion.
SilverBlade784 3 years ago
Don't get me wrong now, both of them are good, I just think Batman Begins is actually better because:
1) It's THE ORIGINAL MOVIE SOUNDTRACK
2) It doesn't have all these SFX
3) It's peaceful yet action packed
4) I can play it on my piano
That's just my opinion.

... and he has to quickly make up replacement, resulting in new, different "Joker".
This is all just speculation, as the greatest strenght (and arguably weakness) of his character is his flexibility to be just about anything.
