I think its just about not letting your love go dry, dont get complacent, if it is then admit it and so somthin about it, bring it back to where it started and remember why it started in the first place.
Even though you don't think your ready to take our relationship to this level yet,I've worked up the courage to admit I love you.
If you'd step up too, and just say yes(or something brave along those lines) we could love each other even more.
Second verse is more of an enigma given my initial thoughts, but the having faith in what you're feeling in your heart...why must we be apart certainly works in well.
I always see the imagery here as sexual(lovemaking), as well as the first half of the second verse including "what a way to use the time, ain't it baby?"
Specifically addressing the "pearls of water from my hips" I'm thinking beads of sweat on her hips that go along with the sweet kisses. I think it is all very artistically well worded.

In general in meaning I interpret it like this:
Even though you don't think your ready to take our relationship to this level yet,I've worked up the courage to admit I love you.
If you'd step up too, and just say yes(or something brave along those lines) we could love each other even more.

Swing me way down South
Sing me something brave from your mouth
And I'll bring you pearls of water on my hips
and the love in my lips all the love in my lips.

No, Dixie Chicks cover a lot of Patty's songs- and she wrote this one, too.
