I remember this game very well, watching the Bulls trying get past Detroit and get over the hump for years. The '89 playoffs planted the seed for this stunning growth when the Bulls upsetted NY, Cleveland and nearly upsetted heavily favored Detroit. The Bulls we're not to be denied anymore, going a combined 8-1 against Detroit & LA,, winners of the previous 4 NBA Championships. I think if the Bulls had not been a little tight in game 1 of the Finals, they would have swept LA as well.
The way Jordan and Pippen move with the ball was so smooth..... they take such long strides that it looks like they're moving slow even though they're actually moving at 100 miles an hour.
I know that there's a history that Isiah Thomas didn't go to the Dream Team in 1992 because he had a problem with Jordan, any of you know why? After this humiliating loss I'd be angry too. The Pistons really looks they were really mad about Jordan and the Bulls
@zigmaleho the reason isiah was left out for the original dream team is because he had beef with some of the player's and that they would back out from the team once they include him... particularly with MJ (freeze game during the all star), BIRD (rivalry with the celtics) and MAGIC (his kissmate and closest friend but got dissed by thomas when he came to know about the hiv issue)...
@zigmaleho many players disliked isiah thomas. aside from being dirty on the court and looking to hurt other players,he pissed off some others with off-court antics and comments: magic johnson states one of his books that isiah went around asking other players(jordan, bird etc) if johnson was homosexual, that made magic johnson upset. rodman once called bird overrated and isiah backed him up.
One thing you notice so plainly about Jordan, besides his incredible presence on the court, is his intelligence. His basketball IQ is of course phenomenal, and even his generally quick moving mind and wit is seen in his post-game interview with Ahmad. I would wager half of the athletes in today's NBA wouldn't be able to express themselves that well.
I don't believe I have ever seen a 2 guard or shooting guard if you will dominate the way Michael Jordan did. True he had a great supporting cast including the coaching staff but Jordan had such a high basketball IQ, competitive nature, work ethic as well as talent that just set him apart from others. His skill reached a level where it appreared as if he was moving in slow motion. The great ones seem to all have that quality.
Still the most classless act in NBA history. You just got your bitch ass slapped around by a better team, be a good sport and tip your cap. Fuckin' asswipes.
basketball is not a friendly game.no huggs no kisses!!! its just a sport but not a friendly game!! this is mans game.not a gays game..wow i miss this!!! miss the 90`s era!!!
I don't mind the Bad Boys not shaking hands.Atleast i know there being competitive. Its an emotional game,As a fan of the game,i know that detroit took that loss hard.Unilike todays game theres too much fraternizing, too many nice guys.I like when teams hate each other on the floor.I miss the 80s and 90's
when the pistons beat the bulls 3 straight years the bulls congratulated em every year. maybe they could have repaid the favor. its not that hard to do so.
when the pistons beat the bulls 3 straight years the bulls congratulated em every year. maybe they could have repaid the favor. its not that hard to do so.
Hey, thanks for the info, I NEVER realized that Dumars actually showed some class as well. THe classic was the way Jordan just shook his head as he folded his arms and watched the fiasco!
John sally was the only one that saw the bulls were just great and takes the beating with class to congratulate the bulls with there great victory, many respect for John sally. And very unsporting of the rest of the pistons team bunch of faggs there taking a beating and walk away like chicken shit
You don't see it in this angle but I've seen it from other videos, he goes over to shake hands with MJ.
Just like when Detroit eliminated Boston in 1988, most of the Celtics start left early, but McHale talked to both Laimbeer and Isiah and shook hands with them.
you clowns are retarded and apparently wasnt around when this game was played. the reason the pistons left is because they were giving the bulls the ultimate respect and basically giving them the court. isaiah talked about it on espn.
@cjpmiller one thing that is for sure....the pistons respected the bulls to the highest...they knew that the bulls (not jordan but THE BULLS) were getting better. it was the bulls time, you have to remember the bulls had lost to the pistons 3 years in a row in the playoffs
Thomas is full of shit, first he leaves without class and then after jordan returned in 1995 he always said wonderful things about him , of how great he is and he will be the greatest, I guess that was his way of saying I´m sorry MJ, lol...
Those bullies, the only ones with class were Dumars, John Salley, and Vinnie Johnson. And one of the only people that remember those 3 congratulating the Bulls while the other punks walked off the floor
If you watch the Rodman shove of Pippen, that would result in an automatic ejection these days, plus two shots and the ball back. Back then, it was just two shots and a technical foul. One of the things the NBA has done right is to get as much of that garbage as possible out of the game.
It does show you though what "hard defense" used to mean vs what it means now.
chris broussard is the dumbest reporter ever. he said lebron and wade celebration was similiar to this. i dont see mj running around yelling, screaming, bowing on one knee praying. real recognize real that why i didnt recognize broussard. if lebron didnt quit he would have already beaten the celtics. chuck daly designed a defensive playbook uniquely to stop jordan forcing him to become a point forward and more of a spot up shooter. what wade and james did was more childish than detroit this game
Anyone who thinks the Bad Boys were misjudged by history need to watch this game to see just what kind of ball club they really were. Pathetic display.
@dkamm65 u must not know Detroits history with Chicago. They use to pummel Michael and Scottie. Nothing but cheap hard shots. Tripping MJ by grabbing his legs, pushing Scottie in the back after a play was over. They use to mug the Bulls. So after all that classlessness, they topped it off by not even shaking their hands. Bynums was a cheap shot but its nothing compared to what the Bulls went through.
@choadboymedina I highly doubt that someone really grabbed his legs going up for a shot and ok a little push in the back every playoff team goes through that in the 2nd and 3rd rounds. If it did happen it was probably Rodman who did it and look what the Bulls did they went go sign him. Bynum wasn't just a cheap shot JJ could have gotten hurt after what he did.
@TabooTerry Watch the f'ing video before you say "I highly doubt it" because both of those happened in THIS video. Rodman fouls Pippen hard, then shoves Pippen into the basket support with two hands. Later on, Jordan splits a double team and he's about to lift off for a shot when Edwards grabs him by the ankle and pulls him to the floor.
I can understand that maybe you're too young to understand how the NBA has changed since those days, but you can at least watch the video.
The Pistons were the road block that Jordan had to overcome to get his first championship. Kobe has never had to overcome anything, so how in the hell could he be better than Jordan.
Salley just knew he needed a job. Bulls played the same D so closely they need former Bad Boys to keep it going. Rodman, Salley, Edwards, Walker, and so on.
Look at the grace that King Jordan handles himself with. No gloating needed, he ended the back-to-back Bad Boys championship era and was in the process of building the JORDAN DYNASTY that would last a decade... Funny that I can remember being shocked that a team actually kept MJ from averaging 30+ points in a playoff series! (as if 29.8ppg is anything but extraordinary!)
Isaiah Thomas is a pr!ck. He orchestrated not shaking hands. He has no class. Even when he was a coach he had no class. Lawsiut anyone? Sexual Harassment anyone?
@FatController23 I agree about him being the one that spearheaded the Pistons deciding not to shake the Bulls' hands at the end of the game. However, Thomas was a great player and a very gritty competitor. His competitive zeal and arrogance got the best of him when the Bulls finally broke through and unseated the champs. I'm sure "Zeke" regrets it now but that doesn't diminish his greatness as a player. He was a wonderful leader and the captain of a team that won back-to-back NBA championships
Joe Dumars is in charge of the Pistons these days and said he back up anyone within his organization because it represents class and character............Maybe things have changed today Joe but your "Organization" defintely had NO CLASS back then. The fact remains that for the exception of James Edwards and John Salley.....you all were very unprofessional athletes and your so-clled "Great Characters" were non-existent. Note to Joe: Tell Isaiah he lost my respect that day. Have a nice day! :)
@chitownsuperfan How is that dirty Isiah just didnt want anything stupid to happen since they were swept so he left early . Dirty was when Bynum wanna take out JJ Barea since the Lakers was losing thats real dirty.
@TabooTerry that particular act by isaiah wasn't dirty, but it was a petty action by a piss-poor sport, which I see you failed to address. He was definitely dirty though and played for a dirty team.
And yes, Bynum is also a dirty-ass poor sport, along with odom, and now the lakers are my most hated team
@chitownsuperfan youre so right chitownsuperfan, whats even more is how much each of the pisstons proved themselves to be even more pissy over the years, escially the queen bithc isiah
@chitownsuperfan If I got swept, I wouldn't stay, that's what I love about the bad boys, they're bad. They don't have to play by the rules, so hate them or love them, they are still epic.
@chitownsuperfan Some dude Mike knew from North Carolina was a rookie on that Pistons team & followed suit with the 'vets' & walked off. Later that summer Mike saw him at a bball camp & tore into his ass cause of that & told him that's why. I with I would've seen that game.
@Stlcards789 the biggest contribution Edwards made for the 96 Bulls was during the '96 finals. everyime Jordan made a deep 3 @ Key Arena against Seattle, he'd have both his hands up =X
@jmpkool ABSOLUTELY!.....When Griffin develops a 12-15ft jumpshot he's gonna be virtually unstoppable! I'm a Bulls fan but when the Clippers are playin I tune in simply to watch Blake Griffin. Definitely the future of the NBA!
@humanhighlight76 People rip the Pistons because they were morons and walking out it's part of that. Man, that's not basketball. Jordan and Pippen were tough guys. They would stand up against anyone, face them. But making dozens of flagrant fouls every single game is not basketball. Duncan is one of the best defensive players I've seen, he's tough, and I really can't remember a single situation where he simply hurt someone in unnecessary way.
8:19 At least John Salley showed some class, congratulating Chicago. He would be a part of another Bulls championship five years later, along with James Edwards and one other ex-Piston I can't quite remember now...
@wutup3x These Piston teams had no class at all. My favorite moment from these Piston teams was when Parrish decked Laimbeer in Game 5 of the '87 Eastern Finals, the first of five straight Piston trips to the Eastern Finals, and almost got away with it until the league lowered the hammer the next day.
@yandyman15 Kobe is NOWHERE closer to Jordan. Jordan got drafted to a team unestablish. Kobe had a silver spoon(Shaq, Eddie Jones, Nick Van Exel). Jordan had to work hard. Kobe aint close dude. Nobody is close to Jordan he has his own WING.
@mistanderson except for the fact that jordan only started winning championships with pippen...... who was a better player than anyone on the lakers team currently except kobe...
@mistanderson in my opinion i think pippen is better than pau... pau is an allstar cause quite frankly who else would start over him as a power forward in the west? of course hes good but dude pippen was like another mj with a lil less skill
@midwestking100 jerry r. owner of the bulls built the dynasty, jordan was part of it. remember in 94, bulls made it to the eastern conference finals game 7 without jordan.
@SpcMedia21 true, but jordan was the centerpiece of that dynasty and the '94 bulls made it to the eastern conference semis but they couldnt get ova the hump against new york cause they really needed a shooting guard and the only reason why they made it that far was because the team that won the championship all returned except for Jordan and other players, but those players were substituted by kukoc, kerr, longley and pete myers who took Jordan place, but really keith bogans is better than myers
@lilzander84 plus didnt the lakers win 50 plus games and were consider as one of the best teams in the west that season? When Jordan got drafted to the bulls they barely made it into the playoffs as the 7th seed
@midwestking100 They did not make the playoffs in 1984. Youre thinking of 1985-1986 season when mj was hurt half the season.Half of that team did not come back to la by the time the lakers won in 2000.
@lilzander84 um yeah they did...the 84-85 bulls won 44 games that season and played against the bucks in the first round where the bulls lost in 4 when it was a 5 game series..check on it!....yeah the lakers won in 2000, but the late 90s lakers teams were already consider as legit title contenders they really just needed a coach with rings who could help them get over the hump cause Del Harris nor Kurt Rambis were not getting the job done
@lilzander84 and the late 90s lakers team was one of the youngest team in the league at the time who were winning a lot of regular season games, but couldnt come thru in the clutch during the playoffs because of experience
From freezing out Jordan during his rookie year, to winning titles behind Dumars, Laimbeer and Rodman, you figure once his career was over, either Isiah was just a victim of the environment of his team or he was a willing opportunist when things are to his advantage. From the looks of things, I doubt he's the victim of anything these days...
sheppardtrooper you must be the stupidest man on the planet....so ur trying to say jordan only won because bird and magic were old? how bout jordan didnt beat them because he was young ? lol ur an idiot seriously....they won 6 championships....jordan left and they didnt win. he was the best player ever and everyone knows that...the game was different when he won...it was better...they went 72-10 for christ sake....u think rodman was the reason....YOU ARE A MORON....
@KaseyConway40706 ummm can i just sa one thing. what does MVP stand for????? two years in a row, not one random year like kobe............. MVP + most valuableplayer which means what........ the best which means what the best player,................ which means lebron is better.
Detroit Pistons leaving the arena without shaking hands. That's what I call bitchassness.

I'm sure "Zeke" regrets it now but that doesn't diminish his greatness as a player. He was a wonderful leader and the captain of a team that won back-to-back NBA championships
scottd0676 11 months ago
Joe Dumars is in charge of the Pistons these days and said he back up anyone within his organization because it represents class and character............Maybe things have changed today Joe but your "Organization" defintely had NO CLASS back then. The fact remains that for the exception of James Edwards and John Salley.....you all were very unprofessional athletes and your so-clled "Great Characters" were non-existent. Note to Joe: Tell Isaiah he lost my respect that day. Have a nice day! :)
vdogg1977 11 months ago
"Pistons are leaving the scene with 7.9 left!" LOL at dirty-ass poor sports. John Salley was the only one with class on that team.
chitownsuperfan 1 year ago 48
@chitownsuperfan How is that dirty Isiah just didnt want anything stupid to happen since they were swept so he left early . Dirty was when Bynum wanna take out JJ Barea since the Lakers was losing thats real dirty.
TabooTerry 9 months ago

James Edwards, John Salley and Dennis Rodman would be on the 1996 Bulls.

@pcorf Edwards and Salley didn't contribute much for the 96 Bulls.
Stlcards789 11 months ago
@Stlcards789 the biggest contribution Edwards made for the 96 Bulls was during the '96 finals. everyime Jordan made a deep 3 @ Key Arena against Seattle, he'd have both his hands up =X

@jwh1999 i made a similar comment weeks ago and mentioned a possible real player.....griffin.tough he is so barkley like in many ways.
check him maybe you will be impressed...forget the dunk contest...his overall game interesting to watch. there is still hope...LOL.
jmpkool 1 year ago
@jmpkool ABSOLUTELY!.....When Griffin develops a 12-15ft jumpshot he's gonna be virtually unstoppable! I'm a Bulls fan but when the Clippers are playin I tune in simply to watch Blake Griffin. Definitely the future of the NBA!

@jwh1999 Tim Duncan's not a real man?
adamy10 1 month ago
its funny how people rip the pistons for doing a walk out.. they werent the first...... the celtics did it to the pistons in 88... look it up..
humanhighlight76 1 year ago
@humanhighlight76 People rip the Pistons because they were morons and walking out it's part of that. Man, that's not basketball. Jordan and Pippen were tough guys. They would stand up against anyone, face them. But making dozens of flagrant fouls every single game is not basketball. Duncan is one of the best defensive players I've seen, he's tough, and I really can't remember a single situation where he simply hurt someone in unnecessary way.

I was watching that game and loved how Paxson responded to Laimbeer's cheap shot by shooting the lights out!
SIGMAMAN69 1 year ago
8:19 At least John Salley showed some class, congratulating Chicago. He would be a part of another Bulls championship five years later, along with James Edwards and one other ex-Piston I can't quite remember now...

SIGMAMAN69 1 year ago
the media talked about LeBron walking off the court vs Olrando...at least Bron waited till the game was officially over LOL unlike the Pistons
wutup3x 1 year ago
@wutup3x These Piston teams had no class at all. My favorite moment from these Piston teams was when Parrish decked Laimbeer in Game 5 of the '87 Eastern Finals, the first of five straight Piston trips to the Eastern Finals, and almost got away with it until the league lowered the hammer the next day.

God even in Jordan interview here i see Kobe In Him....Kobe is just the closest Thing To Jordan..... Jesus!
yandyman15 1 year ago
@yandyman15 Nope..Kobe is nowhere near Jordan. Kobe is lucky to have played with Shaq and Gasol...they ar e the reasons for his championship rings.
jimmy3610 1 year ago
@jimmy3610 LoL I know man..and jordan won all the campionships without pippen too
yandyman15 1 year ago
@yandyman15 Kobe is NOWHERE closer to Jordan. Jordan got drafted to a team unestablish. Kobe had a silver spoon(Shaq, Eddie Jones, Nick Van Exel). Jordan had to work hard. Kobe aint close dude. Nobody is close to Jordan he has his own WING.
mistanderson 1 year ago
@mistanderson Great Jordan won all titles without pippen, grant and EVEN Dennis R. in the 90´s cool
yandyman15 1 year ago
@mistanderson except for the fact that jordan only started winning championships with pippen...... who was a better player than anyone on the lakers team currently except kobe...
sshaxy 1 year ago
@sshaxy Pau Gasol. Pau was an All Star more than once. Kobe didnt start winning til Pau got there.
mistanderson 1 year ago
@mistanderson in my opinion i think pippen is better than pau... pau is an allstar cause quite frankly who else would start over him as a power forward in the west? of course hes good but dude pippen was like another mj with a lil less skill
sshaxy 1 year ago
@mistanderson Jordan built a dynasty while Kobe was born into a dynasty
midwestking100 8 months ago 4
@midwestking100 exactly
mistanderson 8 months ago
@midwestking100 jerry r. owner of the bulls built the dynasty, jordan was part of it. remember in 94, bulls made it to the eastern conference finals game 7 without jordan.
SpcMedia21 8 months ago
@SpcMedia21 true, but jordan was the centerpiece of that dynasty and the '94 bulls made it to the eastern conference semis but they couldnt get ova the hump against new york cause they really needed a shooting guard and the only reason why they made it that far was because the team that won the championship all returned except for Jordan and other players, but those players were substituted by kukoc, kerr, longley and pete myers who took Jordan place, but really keith bogans is better than myers
midwestking100 8 months ago
@midwestking100 not really.

@lilzander84 not really what?
midwestking100 8 months ago
@midwestking100 Kobe came to la in 1996 same with shaq.
lilzander84 7 months ago
@lilzander84 yeah I know, but shaq was in his prime...Jordan never had a dominating center like Shaq
midwestking100 7 months ago
@lilzander84 plus didnt the lakers win 50 plus games and were consider as one of the best teams in the west that season? When Jordan got drafted to the bulls they barely made it into the playoffs as the 7th seed
midwestking100 7 months ago
@midwestking100 They did not make the playoffs in 1984. Youre thinking of 1985-1986 season when mj was hurt half the season.Half of that team did not come back to la by the time the lakers won in 2000.
lilzander84 7 months ago
@lilzander84 um yeah they did...the 84-85 bulls won 44 games that season and played against the bucks in the first round where the bulls lost in 4 when it was a 5 game series..check on it!....yeah the lakers won in 2000, but the late 90s lakers teams were already consider as legit title contenders they really just needed a coach with rings who could help them get over the hump cause Del Harris nor Kurt Rambis were not getting the job done
midwestking100 7 months ago
@lilzander84 and the late 90s lakers team was one of the youngest team in the league at the time who were winning a lot of regular season games, but couldnt come thru in the clutch during the playoffs because of experience
midwestking100 7 months ago
@midwestking100 But 2000 they got their title. Bottom Line kobe is the closest thing i will see to a prime jordan in my lifetime.
lilzander84 7 months ago
@yandyman15 you mean you see the jordan in kobe because kobe will never be jordan

Yes, the Pistons were classless but you gotta remember that the Celtics did the same thing when the Pistons finally eliminated them in 1988.
sgtpepper2345 1 year ago
From freezing out Jordan during his rookie year, to winning titles behind Dumars, Laimbeer and Rodman, you figure once his career was over, either Isiah was just a victim of the environment of his team or he was a willing opportunist when things are to his advantage. From the looks of things, I doubt he's the victim of anything these days...
