You should use Gilbert when you get the chance. He's by far the best character in the game (especially if you get Loki's Lute and the ring-whose-name-I-have-forgotten that allows you to replace sing with Chant, which gives every party member protect and shell.

God damn. Square Enix really knows how to make such excellent FMV's combined with traditional Final Fantasy Music. Just watching + listening, while it's not necessarily "emotional", it already gets me a shocked up a bit. This is one of the reasons why I love the series. The game hasn't even started and it already brings me in that state.

I remember that this was a 2mb game back when it came out on the snes, which was big at the time. Imagine that this whole game has the equivalent amount of data to your everyday high res picture.
I do say it does look much cleaner than your last tech demo, best part is you get to show the game to it's fullest potential as well as really show how good the recording quality can look with just some simple tweaks, but it looks good HCbailly great actually and of course your welcome I always enjoy giving advice when it's wanted haha and man so much to look forward to come February now, Hell yeah!
HCBaily, from what I understand about Final Fantasy.. FF3 and FF6 are the same game except 3 is on NES and 6 is on SNES. Is that true? If I understood you right in this video, this game is a re-port of FF2 from NES? I have FF1, 2, and 3 all on my old computer and im wondering if those are worth playing or if I can find those games elsewhere. Thanks!
@bballgolf72 That's not correct. The numbering for the US was switched around a bit because several games were skipped outside of Japan. FFII (NA) on the SNES is actually FFIV. FFIII (NA) is actually FFVI. All later ports of these games reflect the proper numbering. They're all great games, but the NES titles can be tedious. I'd say if you have the ability, give them all a try and see what you like.

@PokeymanTrainer He's re-played a bunch of his past LPs (e.g. Arcana, Seiken Densetsu III), and this is a completely new version, as he said. Much cleaner translation, sharper graphics, an interlude and the After Years, etc.
I love the music for the beginning so much. It's a masterful combination of the Theme of Love, the World Map Theme, and the Main Theme of the game. I love it!
I have only played the original SNES version of this game, and I really didnt care for it. I love what the PSP has done to all the FF games released on it so Im hoping this version will spark interest in me, enough so I can play and beat it. Weirdly enough I have beaten FF1,2,3,5,6,7,9 But not 8 or 4, just cant do it... Its weird. But if anyone can make me interested in a game, HCBailly is the man!
ive played all the final fantasy games through 13 (excepting 11), while haveing some conflicts with gameplay elements or other things that kinda mess the game up, nine has to be my favorite gameplay wise, graphics wise is 13, and story wise would go to eight, but it would need to flesh it out alot, and fill in the plotholes first, so instead it goes to four, so nine, thirteen, and four, hcbailly is now doing, or has already done, all my favorite final fantasy games
@demonicstrife09 I'd choose the PSP version because of the battle mechanics, though I do love how they fleshed out the story in the DS version better.

HCBailly, since some music pieces are replayed a lot (like the regular dungeon theme), I was wondering why not switch over to the new arrangement for the length of a dungeon or so. That way, we can experience a taste of the new arrangement., while still enjoying the original bgm.

My favorite Rpg is Disgaea. Great story, characters, and stats and levels that could make any good man cry. Though the grinding is a pain in the ass sometimes. It's still a fun game, if you like Tactical Rpgs/JRpgs.

Dear HCBailly, I'm writing to you to inform that I as well think FF4 is THE best game of all time. I remember playing the anthology version on the ps1 so much that my parents actually almost threw the console away because of the "loud plingplong calculator sounds" that I would just listen for hours even when not playing the game itself :D
Well may favourite FF is still FF9 but this one is up there. I've only played vis the DS version and that was good and difficult enough for me to enjoy it.
I didn't really like ff4 cause I felt the world was too big and i got lost all the time , that's why i preferred ff13 and especially ff13-2 which is a million times better then the original , yeah I know i'm a casual ff player
Didn't the GBA version allow you to use any of the characters after the essential plot points? It may have been glitchy, but I *really* liked that about that version of the game.. Most of my favorites are the under appreciated characters who get pushed to the side.
Near the ending you can change the team, but that version have too much ATB bugs. PSP version is cool, but I prefer the fan translation of the first japanese SNES game.
I hope Interlude and After Years don't come too much further after this one. They're what I'm really wanting to see but I refuse to tip any of my money toward Square-Enix these days :P
I loved this game! I only played the gba version on my phone via emulator but it was easily one of my favorites! The ds trailer also gets me so pumped when I see it!! Can't wait for this :D
@HCBailly I hope you include the interlude and the after years as part of the main project or at least do them in sequential order although you probably would do that anyway, but just to let you know it can't be considered complete without the interlude and the after years included with the main game. i will leave the decision up to you though
This is my favorite Final Fantasy game. So I got to ask HCBailly, what is your fastest time it took for you to beat the Super Nintendo Version of the game. My Fast time was just under 12 hour. I know more trick though so if I tried hard enough, I might be able to beat it in under 9 hour.
Epic. The way you timed your favorites talk at the end so that the Title came up as you were talking about it was great. Really looking forwards to this LP, and seeing how it might differ from the original LP you did.
So is getting the game on the PSP a better (not to mention cheaper) choice than downloading the original and the After Years separately on the Wii? The Wii versions are what my original plan was since I tend to get further in RPGs if I'm playing them on a console instead of a handheld, but if the PSP version is better I might as well take it. I mean, I'll need SOMETHING to play while my sister's hogging the TV to play FFXIII-2! I mean other than the PSP game I got for my Bday last week. LOL

@demonicstrife09 I'd choose the PSP version because of the battle mechanics, though I do love how they fleshed out the story in the DS version better.

ff8 is my favorite and the very first game i ever played on the playstation i just fell in love with it it is my all time favorite game and my favorite in the series i am a huge ff buff as well
i haven't really played any of the ff under 7 but i really want to so i might have to go get a psp unless i will be able to play all the ff on psp on the vita

HCBailly, since some music pieces are replayed a lot (like the regular dungeon theme), I was wondering why not switch over to the new arrangement for the length of a dungeon or so. That way, we can experience a taste of the new arrangement., while still enjoying the original bgm.

Love it when remakes of games give you the option to hear/enable the original sound track (And I mean the music it had in it's original version).
Bit Like HeartGold/SoulSilver where you get an item that lets you hear the original music from Gold and Silver.

My favorite Rpg is Disgaea. Great story, characters, and stats and levels that could make any good man cry. Though the grinding is a pain in the ass sometimes. It's still a fun game, if you like Tactical Rpgs/JRpgs.

Damn you HC Baily, I'm too spoiled on your already completed LPs, I guess I'll distract myself from this lp by watching Chrono Trigger and Chrono Cross, although I've played both and played through if not most then half of the endings in Trigger...
lots of my life was spent on those endings.

Dear HCBailly, I'm writing to you to inform that I as well think FF4 is THE best game of all time. I remember playing the anthology version on the ps1 so much that my parents actually almost threw the console away because of the "loud plingplong calculator sounds" that I would just listen for hours even when not playing the game itself :D

I didn't really like ff4 cause I felt the world was too big and i got lost all the time , that's why i preferred ff13 and especially ff13-2 which is a million times better then the original , yeah I know i'm a casual ff player

Didn't the GBA version allow you to use any of the characters after the essential plot points? It may have been glitchy, but I *really* liked that about that version of the game.. Most of my favorites are the under appreciated characters who get pushed to the side.

Near the ending you can change the team, but that version have too much ATB bugs. PSP version is cool, but I prefer the fan translation of the first japanese SNES game.

I loved this game! I only played the gba version on my phone via emulator but it was easily one of my favorites! The ds trailer also gets me so pumped when I see it!! Can't wait for this :D

@HCBailly I hope you include the interlude and the after years as part of the main project or at least do them in sequential order although you probably would do that anyway, but just to let you know it can't be considered complete without the interlude and the after years included with the main game. i will leave the decision up to you though

This is my favorite Final Fantasy game. So I got to ask HCBailly, what is your fastest time it took for you to beat the Super Nintendo Version of the game. My Fast time was just under 12 hour. I know more trick though so if I tried hard enough, I might be able to beat it in under 9 hour.

So is getting the game on the PSP a better (not to mention cheaper) choice than downloading the original and the After Years separately on the Wii? The Wii versions are what my original plan was since I tend to get further in RPGs if I'm playing them on a console instead of a handheld, but if the PSP version is better I might as well take it. I mean, I'll need SOMETHING to play while my sister's hogging the TV to play FFXIII-2! I mean other than the PSP game I got for my Bday last week. LOL

@TheInunah Yes, definitely. It's far cheaper, and The After Years is much nicer to look at on the PSP, plus bonus content.
