@U2360T Yes it is, but you have heard of "sound engineering?" Often they use "sustain" or other effects on some songs on Bono's voice. There is someone sitting there timing/watching lips, listening to the lyrics to hit the button at the right time. You see this very obviously during "until the end of the world" version recorded in the 2001 Brit awards.

He's awesome, but their is the SE's role in creating the amazing U2 final sound.

wen i heard the first single and later the whole cd i was terribly dissapointed, because i couldnt find those incredibly brainsucking hooklines and melodies as in elder records. exception: magnificent. i kicked off my mp3 player and didn`t want to know nothing about NLOTH.

when i decided to give it another chance i listened without high expectations - and i seemed to be listening to something completely different. no line, go crazy, moment of surrender..just great

Why are you flaming him?? I felt the same. I did not like the album on first listen, but then I listened to it a few more times and now I think it is one of the best U2 albums right up there with "Achtung Baby" (best one) and "Joshua Tree" (2nd best).
