I've had this nav for 3 years n I still have no clue as to what's it's full potential.my iPod is connected to the nav screen but I get no pic in it just sound.still got a bunch of finding out to do all i say it's a nice thing to have.

You can't watch videos from your ipod you can connect it, play the song, and the video will play on your ipod but not the screen. you need the next higher version to have the option i believe. but i have this in my car and its great def recommend it if you can find it

I just installed my avic-d3, but i'm having a few problems. I also installed a bluetooth adapter, but when i click on bt-tel, it won't allow me to click on the function key (which i need in order to add my phone and phone book). Also, when i try to enter an address in my navigation menu, it won't let me click on "enter an address" or most of those keys - they're all greyed out. Am i doing something wrong, or do i need to get a different system?

you need to engage your parking brake for your avic d3 to unlock these features. this is ment for safety because the syatem does not want you to drive while playing with settings.

Best money I ever spent.

for a little bit less than $1,000.00 I added 4 6X9 Pionner speakers, a 6 inch bazooka subwoofer, a rear view camera, and a remote control. It was installed on a 2007 Ford F450 (Tow Truck) the Navigation Map is very accurate, easy to use, and the sound is deep, crisp, clear. Totally awesome system. (the remote is a must have). I don't care about playing CD's because I have an Ipod, Movies, Music Videos are a pleasure to watch. Great system.

I have some TV shows that I downloaded from iTunes onto my iPod Touch. I wanted to play those shows on my D3, but I don't think it's possible....is it?

You don't have to use the AUX jack. It has a dedicated iPod interface and control and even works with iPod video. The jack can be used for other audio or even video devices. That's right, the AUX jack accepts video inputs so you can hook up a game system, external video player, etc.

What about map updates? I hear they been on 1.0 version for a long time and leaving out areas.

Is there a way to modify what voice is being used for the navigation speaker. Like TomToms can do with downloaded ones.

I know that the bypass on a car is very easy, and has nothing to do with any sensors - just move a wire in the harness from one spot to another, ground that moved wire and and a parking brake wire, and you are set. Shouldn't matter if it's on a ship or a space craft :)

no, you can purchase a cable for under $15 that connects to the back of the unit. Mine comes out in the glove box where I attach the video ipod. You can control the ipod directly from the D3 unit on the screen, with the exception of the video. That has to be controlled directly from the ipod. BUT.. the good news is that if you were watching a movie, for example, and you turn it off to gas up. It comes back on where you left off. No need to take the ipod back out and restart.

yeah you can get em cheap on ebay or whatever, but without the bluetooth, remote, or ipod hookup. Thats half the fun. That particular bundle will run about $150 - $200. Without those things your missing half the fun.
