When I was 15 I went to see them in a club in Port Aransas, TX. I didn't have enough money to get in. I listened from the outside not knowing what instrument was making the jug sound. Yeah it's been awhile.

I just saw a great documentary about Roky called, of course "You're Gonna Miss Me" (available through Netflix). It includes part of this clip, as well as the Elevators' appearance on Dick Clark's American Bandstand. Fascinating stuff, and a great performance from 2005 by Roky and the Explosives in Austin. He's back onstage and he's got his shit togehter!

rokyerickson dot net . There was a tribute album in the 90s that was amazing. At the time Roky was in a mental institute because of alleged LSD use that 'caused him to lose his mind'. His brother recently discovered that he wasn't gone and had been committed against his will and he wasn't ill.
