I thought he WAS Bob Dylan, listening to the song today (on HBO, the movie "Michael" in the credits.) It is a great song, with strong words, that have deep meaning. I came here to see if I could find it.
GREAT songwriter...GREAT singer...GREAT musican...thank you...JOHN HIATT for inspiring me ...US...I remember seeing you at the Blues Fest Ottawa..some guy in the crowd said you're better than Bob Dylan... you just smiled... All I can say is you're there in that realm...absolutely ! Thank you for inspiring.
He is amazing. Soulful as a monk. He sings with such depth and humanity. He is one of my favorite artists right now......

Hiatt is always good, but the saxophones have to go. I don't care for horns in this song.

I humbly disagree with you--I think the sax solo elevates the song

@chris3312music I think it would be cool with just all acoustic instruments and the solo on a mandolin...what do you think?

@garydupuis --Yes his old band had a strong mandolin player --see version of "Cry Love"---

Terrible sound, agreed. Also, the horn section arrangement is weird. It's a fantastic song, but I can't stand that cheesy horn part.

I fell in love with the music of John Hiatt when I first heard him on tour with “bring the family”
John’s talent to look so empathically into our souls and make a song out of it is unparalleled.
I wish radio would play more of his music…
