  • Wow! You only used brush and eraser!

  • damn that music is dope....

    so is the drawing

  • pretty art :3 i like the eyes lol

grr i have a hard time keeping the lines lice and neat /fail pisses me off >:

  • I don't mean to be rude, but this is not a tutorial, its a demonstration. Good work though.

  • Shout out from a fellow player on Gaia Online

    ;D

  • HOW DO U DO IT ON A MACINTOSH

  • @thisismyusername1489 The same way, if you're serious about this stuff though, it helps to use a wacom tablet, and to have a professional program like Abobe illustrator or photoshop or Corel painter or draw.

  • What are your brush settings?

  • that's freekin epic!!!

excellent work on the chain, I thought it would take ppl ages to make sommin like that.

  • how do you get that photoshop?

  • You buy it xD

  • @thesuperDPfan download it ripped. :P

  • Wow, nice work there. What settings were you using on the brush?

  • shit u did an awesome work! u really used the brush tool for the lineart! thats just way too hard for me! dont you use the pen tool? :(

(but if i could id do the manual line art since it has that "cool" unnartificial effect

  • I love the song, thanks for the tutorial, sadly its not what im looking for

  • wat are the songs?

  • Hey, I realize you have 141 comments, and the chance of an answer is very slim.

But may i ask where you using the pen-tool while doing the hair ? it was done very beautifully,.

how do you hold your tablet when you draw, and do you ever find your self rotating the tablet, do sometimes but , i don't know if it is good for my art.

Paint Tool Sai ( in vector layer ) has an amazing line art, have been told it's the best, you can use it for 30 days and its only a 10mb download, Thankz 4 vid

  • como vc faz para deixar a linha bem definida.. no meu cs3 eu naum consigo deixala assim, ela fika parecendo pixel art...

  • qual foi o pincel que vc usou? vc usou tablet? sem ele não da pra ter a mesma testura?

  • ooo ok. Does make sense.

  • i dun get how this is a tutorial if ur not telling us anything >.>

ex. Wut tools did u use, or how do the tools work?

  • this is a tutorial because some ppl are able to learn watching the process. And there is the possibility to comment and ask. I'll certainly awnser or another person who understand the matters.

  • Sorry...that didn't make sense anyway so I'll ask another question.....how did u do lineart?

  • First I drew the pic with a blue brush in one layer, then I created a new layer and did the countourn in black. All using a pen tablet. :)

  • Wow.......so u draw on one layer and trace using another layer?

  • yes...

  • do you have to get a pen tablet to make this?

  • not really

but without a pen tablet you may have trouble getting the line straight, so I'd suggest you to use the Pen Tool. :)

  • This is awesome.......just to make things clear....All I have to do is find a pic to use my pic to use then tract it and then it's line Art?

  • Thank you! :)

Sorry i didn't understand your question. (english is not my first language..)

  • El mio Tampoco.. y viendo tu nombre supongo qe hablas español..

disculpa la molestia usas la tabla digital cierto.?

de que tamaño es la tuya..?

  • er..yo soy brazileña (???) no hablo español..perdon!! XD mas entendi seu comentario, vou pedir ajuda para traduzir a resposta!!

  • ... pretty eyes.

  • thanks :3

  • I think it turned out really adorable, and your talent is definitely evident in this video. Were you using a pen tablet? I don't have one of those.

  • yes, i was using a pen tablet. :) thanks for the comment <3

  • You're welcome. One thing I really liked that you did was when you flipped the image horizontally for a moment. That's one of the best ways to confirm that your drawing is proportionate. People sometimes have a tendency to "fall in love" with their drawings as they are doing them, and they become unable to see where the drawing is disproportionate or off in some way stylistically. Flipping the image horizontally is the best way to make sure that your drawing is actually correct.

  • What brush are you using? I don't seem to have that one.

  • I'm using the first brush, size 3px! The pointed tips are an option for pen tablet users. :)

  • so what did she use to remove the blue lines?

  • separate layer

  • What do you mean? Like make it disappear? The little eyes next to the layers. They control what you see and what you don't.

  • The whole time I was like,

    'ITS FINE WOMEN!!! D:' XD

  • i see u have great taste in music...oh and i love the video, very helpul u got my sub.

  • nice work....

  • 2 qs- what size brush is that? And how do you get the tapered ends?

  • The tapered ends are probably due to the artist using a tablet to draw. Such a tablets react to pressure so that you can assign more or less pressure to get thicker or thinner lines. The resulst look more natural. You can get a beginner's tablet for I think as cheap as 50 bucks but they are of course not recommended for serious work. Wacom is one of companies that produces these tablets. There are others though but I dont know them.

  • what size bush do you use?

  • my fave song!!!mmmmmmm XD

  • i love the whole thing, but the nose is what bothers me.

I WANT COOL SOFTWARES TO DO THOS KINDA STUFF! *pouts*

    overall, this is AMAZING!

as if you didnt know that.

    you didnt?

well then i'll tell you again.

    THIS IS AMAZING!!

    got it memorized?

    hehe. axel.

  • Gimp and OpenCanvas 1.1 are both programs similar to Photoshop, and they're free for download. :) They're not quite like Photoshop, but they get the job done.

  • I love watching these! XD Nice job!

  • ohh the fucki'n chain

  • Tapering your lines at the end, How do you select a tapered line, b/c all I'm getting is the airbrush...

  • wow u really didnt explain a goddamn thing

  • how did you turn the picture round

  • in the top menu of PS:

    Image>Rotate Canvas>Flip Horizontal.

    =]

  • wow wheres the tutorial all i see is you tracing over ur pic,..i hate these videos

  • so dont watch it entirely and dont comment. we both get happy this way.

  • This doesn't look tablet drawn :/ No pen pressure at all

  • yes there is but this person doesn't use allot of pressure

  • i dont know how to draw on one layer with out drawing on the other at the same time can someone tell me?

  • lock the layer, The button next to the lock above the layers (i think its that one)

  • wow super steady hand

  • Tablet.

  • How can you be so good at this?!?! I dont understand how your hand can be so steady. Im using the brush tool and my lines all over the place. it looks like some badly drawn crayon art. *crys*

  • I have a tablet myself and I heard that the fancy wacom tablets straightens your lines for you (so you don't have bumpy lines when drawing pics =D), but I was wondering, do you have a bamboo fun tablet? Thats what I have. Or do you have the wacom tablet you draw on?

Btw, your drawing is awesome o.o

  • Thaaaanks this video hlped me very much ;D and i see yuu hash Gaia avi :o

  • why dont you try using the path tool, take a look at my video, it shows you what it looks like... :) i use that for my line art, it makes it harder to colour but it looks quite good

  • Why don't you just draw it by hand (pencil/ink+paper), then scan it, then use Ctrl+L(Levels)? [That's the way I do lineart]

I think it would save you A LOT of time.

  • xD

'cuz my inking by hand ir worser than my digital ink...

thank you very much for the comment. =]

  • Did you use a special tool to draw this out on the computer? or just a mouse?

    if you didn't what did you use? ;-;

  • I used a wacom tablet. :)

  • im new at photoshop and whats a wacom lablet? i want to do line art but i dont now how lmao

  • Wacom Tablet is an digital Interface (i couldn't think of a better way to say it :( ) which allows you to take control of your cursor with a pen most line art users use something like what she is using.

they can cost alot but there is good ones are very good prices sometimes you may even find a bargin!

  • i wanna be drawn =o

  • You're using a Wacom right?

Is your tablet a Intuos or Cintiq?

  • It's a Grphire...? I dunno. xD

  • so did u color it??? :)

  • no. ^^; the prize was only the lineart.

  • k :)

  • Good work! I just want to ask you something. I do also draw on tablet and stuff, but I want to make video's of how I draw it, like you just did. But how do you do that? How can you get this in a video?

  • Thank you! :) I used a program called Comstudio, you can record your desktop activity with it.

  • Cutee. I love it. :3

  • did you draw the blue lines??

  • Yes. :)

  • the ear looks too big... but i dunno it may just be ur style

  • HEY! lets meet up! MSG me on MSN. ID is in my profile. M

  • Where can I get a tablet I can't find one I've already tried Office Max and found out they dind'nt sell them there anymore where can I find one? Please reply!

  • Well, I bought mine in a normal Computer/Eletronics store... ^^;

  • well most likely office max is an OFFICE STORE not the technology type of store, try best buy, that's where i got mine,or you can order then online :P

  • I have very unsteady hands, my drawings have been turning out like the sketchwork and I was wondering if there were any photoshop settings that could help minimize the shake? I'm running CS2.

  • Well, i dunno about settings. You could try drawing on a higher resolution, like 300% of the original size. :)

  • If it's your hands shaking, cut down on the sugar and maybe try a different brush setting, such as trailing and pressure sensitivity.

BUT, if the cursor is sorta twiddling around in place, it might be the monitor causing interference with your tablet.

  • great picture! did you do the blue lines by hand or is it all digital?

  • Thank you! :D I drew the blue lines with tablet.

  • great picture ^^

did you draw the blue lines by hand or is it all digital?

  • I say,, that's awesome! =] ^_^-

  • great video! You have a very steady hand - are you using a mouse?

And about Camtasia - does it slow up your comp when you're using photoshop at the same time? I was using a different program and it did, big time, so it made making the video a very tortuous process!

  • Hi

No I'm not using a mouse. I drew it with a wacom tablet and yes, camtasia makes my computer slower! it's really sad.

Thank you very much for the comment =)

  • really nice work... this helped me alot more than all the other ones ive watched put together... the song kinda put me off though

apart from the song... really nice vid and nice drawing

  • You know is easier if you use the pen tool to outline the drawing.

    anyway is pretty cool!

  • ok how do u get he picture to trace like that onto another piece of paper? like I know you have to make it invisible to see what ur doing but when I do that I get grey and white squares. please help me I'm so lost.

  • Oh, that's beacause your BG and sketch lines are in the same layer. I worked with three layers:

    1st to the white bg

2nd to the blue sketch line

    3rd to the black lineart.

So whei I wanted to see how my inked version was going I just hid the sketch layer.

I think in your case you can just create a new layer, paint it white and drag it under your sketch layer...

Then when you hid the middle layer you can see the inked version on a white bg.

Thank you for the comment. Hope I could help you.

  • omgawd...thats insane...is that with a mouse or tablet?!O.o cuz ppl who can do it with mouse are insane

  • I used a pen tablet. :}

  • whats pen tablet?

  • ah, well..dunno how to explain in english, I'll quote the comment of cavernettes on this video xD

"i think she used a tablet. You know, like, the touch screen laptops with a stylest pen thing..."

You can search on the web about it too...

  • thanks, the reson am asking is because my photoshop is in french and the names are diferent.

  • Nice work! I see you like anime too :)

Could you tell me how you did the lineart from the very beginning? With the layers and everything. PM me if you want. Or tell me here. Thanks in advence.

  • wow, I really like the way you draw!

Quick question: how do you keep your lines so straight? Because when I draw using my tablet, it takes me a bunch of strokes before I've got a straight line that follows my lineart the way I want it. Is it the resolution you're working at? Or just practice? Also, how long have you been working with a tablet?

Well i guess that wasn't so quick... But whatever, I'm curious =P. Anyway, props on the picture. It's very pretty ^^

  • Thank you!:)

I've been using my tablet for 3 years...

Drawing in a higher resolution straighten the lines... I usually draw on 300% or up of the original size. Practice helps too! :D

  • How The Hell can u guys draw with a mouse i am a great at drawing but not on the computer and its much more funner normally becuase in the computer u just have effects and that means its not really drawing.

    u guys are Crazy!

  • atleast you got 1 talent i cant do either hahaha

  • i think she used a tablet. You know, like, the touch screen laptops with a stylest pen thing...

  • what tool yare you using? and are you like painting over ?

  • hey arte u using a tablet??

  • Yes I am. =)

  • Holy Sh.. What did u do with the text?

I understant the part where u created a new layer with the text being white + adding blending options..

But whats the red stuff about :O

  • ...sorry..uh

are you talking about the video? it doesn't have any explicative text..and I don't use blending options....

    x.x

  • no i mean at the end, (6:05) you make the screen red, then you write your text end use blending options to create either a shadow or a black stroke.

Sorry if i wasnt clear ^^

  • ah wow, you're fast! xD

I got it now, I just typed the copyright with the text tool of PS.

    ^^

  • ah ok

I was youtubing atm so yea i was fast xD..

Ok, it happened so fast, i thought it was something special ^^

  • Hi there ^^ umm...i was wondering how do you know how big the picture is? how do u check how big the picture is? xD

  • hey dude i have cs2 but i dunno how you got that set up lol how do you get the overview of the picture in the top right corner? and how come you have three laers, i thought you only had the black and blue lol? oh and what did you make your canvas size?

  • I cant make my brush tip pointy like yours. Please help! :)

  • The pointy tips are a pen tablet option, you mark it on:

    Brush presets(press F5 in your keyboard)> Shape dynamics> Size jitter> Control> Pen pressure.

Make sure your tablet driver is properly installed and is compatible with that option...

    :) Hope I've helped...

  • Thanks a lot for the response. But i forgot to tell you im not using a tablet. I dont know how to set it right.:) Thanks

  • what size was your page?

  • I don't remember it exacly. Sorry.. it was a high resolution though, around 2000x2000...

  • Umm how did you make the background image disappear and just the black lines stay on? :S

  • I drew the blue lines on a different layer than the black lines. To let only the black ones you just click on the little eye in front of the layer you don't wannna see...(hope you understand ;_; )

  • i think it was the nose that was bothering you

  • Haha, yeah...maybe. :D

  • Do you have to do the lineart freehand? Isn't there a tool that makes curves or something?

  • Yes, there is, it's called Pen Tool. I don't really like to use it because is harder to play with the volume trough the lineart.

  • how did you get so much control of the pen?!

  • thank you..well I've been using pen tablet for 3 years now and I'm still not that good. :)

  • You have amazing skill and pen control. Did you get that way through lots of practice? Or are you naturally gifted? Or both? To me it looks like the last one :)

Could I just ask what size and resolution you're using? Your image is very crisp.

  • Thank you! Well, I guess it's practice, I've been using my tablet for 2 years. My first pics using it were a disaster...xD

    My computer resolution is 1152x864...

  • Great video! And if you don;t mind me asking, what verson and type of the wacom tablet did u use?

  • Thank you! :) Well the model of my Wacom tablet is.. *reads back of tablet* CTE-630.. is that what you meant? XD

  • Ah, my friend said my tablet is a Graphire....! (I'm not sure wich awnser you wanted. Sorry...)

  • how did u record this vido ?

  • I recorded with a trial version of Camtasia. But it's a paid program. Some ppl indicated Camstudio that is a freeware but I didn find it for download. =/

  • thx

  • Looks great!

btw. Are You painting on Wacom tablet?

  • Thanks! :) Yes, I'm using a Wacom tablet.

  • wow.

did you use a tablet or your mouse?

  • I drew it with a pen tablet. :)

  • I got the CS2 and how did you get that brush? The one with the pointed tip. It would help me a lot.

  • Lol, this is the 3rd time I try to awnser you, but youtube doesnt let me link you a image...

So I'll just try to explain here...

The brush I use is a normal one, that comes with Photoshop, it's the first one I guess. The pointed tips are an option: "Pen pressure" for pen tablet users. :) You can chose it in the brush settings.

  • awesome thanks really hleped

  • Omg lol Gaia online LOL XD I use gaia too xD

  • I like this! Especially how you kept messing around with the eyes, you know how you moved them? It was really neat =3 And what not x.x..Your using Paint Shop?

  • Thank you very much. ^__^ I use Photoshop CS3.

  • it might make things easier if you just use the pen tool, that way you dont have to keep deleting your lines... trust me, it works great

  • hey tell me about backgorund song

  • Musics:

Timbaland & One Republic - Apologize

    Duran Duran - Falling Down

  • Whoaaaa baby! Thats amazing. Yourrr amazing!!

  • it 's seems very talented..not like me so slow..and get stuck always.........=-=

  • Awesom man! its just amazing!! I loved it!!

Great work!! m good in photoshop, but never tried this stuff.. its tuff with mouse, but will give it a try...

    Good one..

    rated 5 stars :D

  • do you use a tablet? I'm just wondering.

  • Yes I do. :)

  • how do you have seperate layers so that when you colour or do soemthing on that picture,..other place won't get affected?

  • Omg, sorry it took to long for me to awnser!!

Do you use Photoshop? You can create a new layer by clicking on the little page shaped button below the layer window ot by pressing shift+crtl+N

  • you re-did a lot of lines do you use a tablet?

    did you line using pen/paint?

lineart is so much easier to do using vector shaping

I use corel intead of cs3 so I wouldn't really know

    nice stuff man :)

  • Yes I use a tablet. I can't draw with Corel, I tried for some time but for me it's easier to use the pen tool of PsCS3. :)

    Thank you.

  • is the pen the only manual system in photoshop CS3?????? I mean the straight line.. it does not make much of a line but with a pattern. how do I fix that...

  • I dont have the same brush that u used to do this lineart :S:S can u tell me how can i have it in my toshop ? my current version is Cs2 so please mp me ^^

  • How did you get it to be blue at first?

  • I drew it pn a different layer with the pen tool using the color blue. xD
