@dalynthesk8r It wouldn't destroy your hard-drive, You would simply format it from Boot using a XP/Vista/Win7 Boot disc and then re-install your whole OS, Meaning you start fresh, But if you are thinking of doing this backup all of your documents onto DVD or External HDD.

The reason it wouldn't let you is because you where trying to do it while the OS is running, The System32 Folder on your C:\ drive is always in use. So that is why.

And viruses can spread past your C: and D: drives, they can spread into your motherboard, something you can never format (only replace). So this is a waste of time and completely untrue.

u CAN'T delete your system32 folder by simply clicking delete... Widnows will just say u don't have permissions to access that file. Don't believe me? Try deleting a single file (make a backup if you want to be sure about the file) and u will see that windows will not let u. Only way to delete system32 in in safe mode and even then you must tweak your permissions.
