Actually it's the amp's distortion, with a Digitech Bad Monkey overtop of it to give it some balls and sustain. Now the amp's been replaced by an ENGL Powerball, and the Bad Monkey is replaced by a Keeley TS9 Tubescreamer.

Not so fast, it's actually an Epiphone that I'm playing in the video. It DOES have all Gibson parts in it now, but it's still an Epi. Also, I don't suggest getting this guitar. I'd rather have a standard two pickup Les Paul, because I never use the middle pickup in the Black Beauty. It doesn't have a great sound, no matter what pickup I put in it. In fact now I don't even have the middle pickup wired, it's only to make it look cool now.

It's the Epiphone version, but I've completely redone the wiring and put new pots and pickups in it now so it sounds much better (a lot better than most Gibson LP's I've played, excluding $4000+ customs).

If You don't feel comfortable about performing an operation on a Guitar then do Not do It but trust Me I have done It before & going to do It again using using 2 1957 Gibson humbuckers 2 Finder single coil pickups 1 humbucker connected to 1 single coil then 2 separate cord 2 separate preamps gives high gain to do squeals as Dime Bag but has a deep full body Sound. but there are custom pickups as Zakk Wyled use for high gain but I don't thinks Its In stereo.

I actually can't stand the sound of a single-coil guitar (wish I had realized that before buying a strat). Also, as far as I know, there's no guitar with two humbuckers AND two single coil pickups, unless you want to play two different guitars at the same time -- near impossible.

It's actually not even the Gibson version, it's an Epi. I wouldn't dock it for being an Epiphone though, it's still better than most Gibson Les Pauls I've played, the exception being Les Paul Customs which are $4k more than this one cost. I've put all new pots and Gibson pickups in it though, and it sounds even better. The only thing I can dock this guitar for is it's weight. It is the heaviest guitar I've ever played. By far.

That's actually not a problem for me at all...I play with my guitar up a lot higher when I stand than most people do (I have my guitar at about the same height when I stand as when I sit). I never understood why some people practice sitting down, and then when they stand up, their guitar is to their knees. It makes you completely relearn how to play the song if you do that.

first of i highly doubt that is a gibson les paul black beauty, because i think thats a bit pricey for someone of your skill level and talent. Its prob an epiphone, if that was real it was pretty good playing. But what will actual get you somewhere is how play you can compose

Composing is a fantastic skill (and I applaud all who have the skill), but I doubt the violinists in the Philharmonic can compose. Great composers still need great players. By the way, the guitar is completely computer generated as well (my skillz as a video editor are wicked bad), Shawn is actually rocking out on a Ukulele he won at the fair. And if he can make a Uke sound like that... just imagine if he did have a gibson les paul. BTW: My guitar hero character has a les paul & he still sucks.

The pedals in the video are a DigiTech Bad Monkey overdrive pedal (only used it to get a little more distortion and fuzz) and a Electro-Harmonix Small Clone (though that one wasn't used for this). Others I have are a Teese RMC Picture Wah, DigiTech Whammy 4, Boss DD3 Delay, Ibanez TS-808, Marshall Jackhammer (found it, love it, got rid of the Bad Monkey), that's about it.

The kid playing is a friend of my nephew. This was for a retirement party (20 + years in the Air Force, now that's worth rocking!). The neighbors were cool with it and there wasn't a single call to the police (Minot residence are very supportive of the rock and the roll). The roadie in question is part of the band, I'll post his solo soon. Thanks for the comments.
