Bought this album in Japan in "80". Listened to it up until my divorce, and I guess my ex's "whatever" is listening to it now....Still love this song regardless
this is one of my favourite yes tracks, difficuilt to admit it at the time though, as punk was really taking of and what had been really cool for a 14 year old bristolian schoolboy to like, just 18 months earlier became a joke. however, this still sounds great so who had the last laugh!
YES at their peak ! Their harmonies, melody lines and energy showed through on this album like no other. Made me pull out my Ricky 4001 and play along. I think I'll take a look out of the window.
The Rick-comes-back-at-last album, probably their third best, after Relayer and Fragile. Jon Anderson's gently self-mocking lyrics are just a great bonus!
my favorite album next to fragile. thanks for the lyrics. very strange. Now the verses I've sang Don't add much weight to the story in my head So I'm thinking I should go and write a punch line But they're so hard to find In my cosmic mind So I think I'll take a look out of the window When I think about you I don't feel low N'should I really chase so hard The truth of sport plays rings around you
@pamphish it is amazing how great music was back then. turning 50 this year i am starting to appreciate more and more the simpler and less hectic times.
This must be one of the best rock songs ever. There's a guitarist called tom colquhoun who has some songs on youtube and he says that he's going to do a version of this song on 2 guitars at the same time!Should be worth a look.
Ann, this is without doubt the best song ever, again many thanks for posting,i am now playing again sam for the third time! but boy that bike was shiny, cool!
Thanks for taking me back in time Ann, so many fond memories are going through my head as I listen to this. It is one of my favorite songs of all time.
I am off my RD 250......and like you without a beer belly, hoping for something better than what was then........but those were the best days and we didn't even know it man
Wouldn't it be nice if the bands out there that are currently actually making MUSIC of this quality were actually looked and publicized by the record lables as opposed to most of the crap that they sign on and then and then practically force-feed us?!!
Hey thank you so much for posting this great yes song , I remember when this album came out cause I had it. I especially liked this song but I never quite knew the words! Thanks also for putting the words here, I always wondered what they were. Have been a YES fan since the 70"s and 2 years ago I met Jon Anderson while he was doing a solo tour in Seattle, it was such a joy to finally meet and speak with him now that I am 50 years old and still love their music. Thanks! :)
God, this song isn't even played on my local Classic Rock station anymore. I've always heard this without knowing the words so this is a rare occasion for me to read the lyrics in the Description area ;-]
Y'know it's funny as I have most CDs these guys put together when not in Yes, but not one Yes album itself, which isn't like me. Thank you for bringing this song back and the AOR music memories!
im a 53 year young blackman and remember when this first hit the stores. i was also too high to get the lyrics. thanks 4 posting

OMG...the visions and flashbacks from my youth appear at the beginning of this song. I so miss the 80's. Life was simple, stress free and.....fine.

The guitar playing both sound and style in this reminds me quite alot of George Harrison's "Wah-Wah" from 'All Things Must Pass' album.
