I saw Poe live when she opened for Depeche Mode back in 2001. She put on a far, FAR better show than they did, and Mark was there as a guest. "Epic" is an oft-overused term, so suffice it to say that if she ever goes back on tour I'll sell a kidney to get tickets if that's what it takes, and I don't even care if it's mine...

Ok, I looked this up because I really wanted to hear the song. I'd never seen the video and I have to say, I don't really care for it. I love the vocals, and the smooth sound of the whole thing. I even like the spoken word portion, which was part of the original catch for me. I like the car too, but the writhing around all covered in fake dirt is just gross to me, not sexy at all. I do not like how this video cuts off early at the very end. Still five stars simply for being the song I like.

I remember when this song came out, it would never get off the radio. Great song, great times. This song came out in the first half of 2001. I miss those days- pre-9.11 2k1.
The video is a muddy nonsensical blubber, but we have Poe on show, and I can sort of settle for that. Whereas the feast for the eye may be a tad unnecessary, it's all fun, and I very much doubt she was taking herself seriously while filming this.
The nonsensical blubber is her brother, the author of House of Leaves, reading from it. They influenced each other's works while he was working on it.

I like the video. The song is kind of perverted, dirty, so the video fits it perfectly. I guess it's the only way to make a video for this kinda song. Beautiful.

At 2:32 when the song breaks into a jazz segment, I think she cold do much better as a jazz singer than rock. Although the song reminds me a lot of something garbage would put out. She has that sexy smokey voice of a jazz singer.

Ok, I looked this up because I really wanted to hear the song. I'd never seen the video and I have to say, I don't really care for it. I love the vocals, and the smooth sound of the whole thing. I even like the spoken word portion, which was part of the original catch for me. I like the car too, but the writhing around all covered in fake dirt is just gross to me, not sexy at all. I do not like how this video cuts off early at the very end. Still five stars simply for being the song I like.

The video is a muddy nonsensical blubber, but we have Poe on show, and I can sort of settle for that. Whereas the feast for the eye may be a tad unnecessary, it's all fun, and I very much doubt she was taking herself seriously while filming this.

She's wonderful and under-appreciated, but I agree with you about the video.
The song is slick, leather, black, dark, confident, cool, and classy-sexy.
The video could work maybe work as a tongue-in-cheek thing for a peppy song of some sort, I guess. But here it is a train wreak.
She and her brother are awesome, but the mud wrestling is just stupid. Not sexy, not kitschy, not funny.
Fault is likely low budget, bad director, bad art design guy.

@vm46 << I'm in full agreement with you. There was and maybe still is a version without the irritating narration using film from Batwoman or Catwoman. Personally, I wish somebody would do a good video for a great song.
