Beautiful tribute. But personally, I thought it was the height of cruelty that Bess basically stole Walter from under Elizabeth's nose. She could have had anyone; was it necessary to steal away the man the queen loved?
In real life Elizabeth never liked him in a romantic way. It wasnt cruel Elizabeth would never have married him or anything. Bess loved him. Walter loved her.
Actually, she did. While the queen never acted upon her feelings, it is documented that she did love Sir Walter Raleigh. And when she discovered that he and Bess had secretly married, he was sent to the tower for years! I'm not referring to anything in the movie, but to biographers accounts. The queen was extremely angry at Raleigh and remained so for years. Bess was allowed to visit him in the tower, and did so frequently.
Well, weather Elizabeth loved Walter or not, she probably would never have married him nor anyone, and the fact remains that he loved and married Bess. It was "cruel" to send him to the tower and dismiss Bess from court just because of jealousy and because they didn't get her permission.
She looks sooo much like Nicole Kidman. It's impressive O_O
