  • all of your videos are great, keep on like this dude!!!

  • Woah. This is GREAT. And after 2 YEARS you can play like this?? That's amazing D:

  • Insane drumming!! you honor Martin Lopez!!

  • maybe he has done some kind of percussion thing before drumming..

  • 2 years? i doubt it. this level of hand technique and limb independence takes several years to master.

  • @defregano

Not if you are naturally gifted ;)

  • 2 years? i doubt it. this level oof hand technique and limb independence takes several years to master.

  • Nice one, well played, hows the double bass coming? Any plans to post a full length version?

  • GREAT job !!!! good sound and feel and to all those people criticizing ....sit down infront of a kit and try to do better !!!!!!!

    keep it up Chris :)

  • Pretty nice kit, my friend.

  • 2 years? Wow. If you're for real, then great job!

  • Omg very good indeed! \m/

  • Good cover but i think you still need to get into the whole jazz\latino feel thing which made Martin Lopez GREAT. You're on the right path! Keep up the good work!

  • Dude Play With a click or metronom

    u have little mistakes

  • Muy buen cover gran trabajo ! saludos desde Chile!

Very good cover, great job!! :D

  • nice ... dude your playing very good for 2 years

    nice song+awsome cover keep opething

  • DAMN, you're AMAZING. my favourite song, never heard a well-done cover like this.

  • Loving the tone of your snare drum, can you send me a link to wear to get those snare drum wires?

  • GOOD DINAMIC

  • Good stuff my friend!

    -Matt

  • i fucking love your snare

  • ...i ve been played drums all my life, PORCUPINE TREE are majestic, and chris (xCrumblingMirth) is surely a good player to me.

    ciao.

  • Incredible drum sound you get there, sir. Not to mention the flawless playing :D

  • no way that you only play for 2 years

  • You really like K customs!

  • I like my ZBTs better. :p

Great playing, especially for under 2 years. Natural talent if this is true.

  • I see you've got a Gavin Harrison Style splash set up going on

  • Very nice.

  • okay dude, double bass is a crutch. don't worry about it. eventually you won't need one. you already put all metal drummers to shame lolololol. pretty sure the guy from born of osiris can't play that. but he can do gay blast beats!

  • Thumbs up ! nice performance, congrats dude !!

  • Is the Audix i5 brighter in sound than sm57?

  • Nice cover, clean and controlled. Any chance you have the manuscript for this?

  • Nicccce job. You are good my friend.

  • In your description you said at this point in time you'd been paying for only under 2 years? Damn, I'd say you've got a might fine start and are well on your way to becoming a phenomenal drummer! Keep banging on the skins and for God's sake keep playing some of the most melodic, intricate, challenging and beautiful music in the world......OPETH!!!!

  • Truly amazing! I wish you the best of luck in the future :)

  • Shit dude, thats awesome. five fucking stars!

  • kit and symbols sound well nice

  • u got a nice sound in your drums... good mics? :D and a perfect choice of a song... katatonia, opeth and porcupine tree are my favorites too

  • which snare drum is that?

  • This song isn't even that hard that's about 2 years practice alright.

  • damn tat was jus the craziest thin man awesome cover!!!!!!!people think playin the intro is 1 hard thin try this!!!!

  • those are some amazing sounding drums

  • Awesome playing, keep it up.

  • nice dude !

  • nice cover man, keep it up!

  • Holy Shit!! that &fmt=18 really improves sound!! i was always to lazy for puting that...anyway...this is fucking awesome!!! i personally think that second half of the song is much harder than first half...for second half you must have feeling...like you...first part is just "building your strenght"...one of the best opeth cover's...naah...THE BEST!!!

    cheers from croatia!!

  • Damn man, great cover.

  • nice drumming sound! I wish i could sit for 1 hour on your kit and fuck the shit out of that double bass xD trtrtrtrtrtrtrtrtrtrtrtrtrtrtrrtrt

  • While I remain skeptical that you have only been playing for two years, I am still impressed. Good cover my friend!

  • OMFG!!! You are freaking too good....stop it...

  • dude you play the hardest part pf the song, the first half is a piece of cake as far as arms are concerned. please make a cover for the whole song

  • Did you amass all that equipment in your notes during only 2 years of starting to play drums? Geeez man, somebody must be financing ya big time. Very nice job by the way. Sounds awesome.

  • i was thinking that he must be playing for longer because he claims his chimes are crash cut-outs. does that mean he bought crash's just to cut them? idk. iv been playing about as long as he has, maybe a year and a half, and i sound like him, but i deffinatly dont have all this stuff he does.

  • cool...but where is the 1st part of the song?

  • f$c&in great job man keep it up opeth are the best dare yourself with ghost of perdition i know you can

  • this part of the song is awesome beyond belief. This is exaclty why I love Opeth, quality band.

  • audix i5 is fucking great at the snare !

have you taste it in toms ?i would like to know how is sounds in toms can you make some test ;)

  • @tiburonelectrik

its because this is later in the song, he said he couldnt play the begining :P

  • your kit sounds awesome bro

  • i type in Opeth - Master's Apprentices and i get a different song then this dude

  • remember this is the second half

  • noob

  • This is just the second half of that song...

  • awesome drum sound man!

  • haven't you only been playing for like a year? lol

  • Wish i could get my toms in such a level position there, exact same size and using rack but still not level.

  • You play great and very fluently however, i agree with cyprian0810.. Martin Lopez is no regular drummer.. On the other behalf.. good job.

  • I don't believe you. You are very precise and your gear is very expensive. For two years of playing...everything about your playing and your kit are way above and beyond.

  • Well if I would be that rich that I cant take a shit I could buy expensive kit too =) Poor thing is that I am poor as fuck...

  • its the rich guys power

  • are you guys really doing this???

I may have nice music gear, but i make barely enough to afford rent. Everyone has their priorities.

  • Fuck em brother, jealousy has a face all it's own. Keep up that beautiful drumming.

  • @xCrumblingMirth what an arse hole, you dont have to be rich to afford good music equipment.

  • @xCrumblingMirth Do you at least play in any band to make up for the rent?

  • @xCrumblingMirth word, id rather have a sexy setup then a nice tv and an xbox....

  • @cyprian0810 True, true I thought the very same thing.

  • @cyprian0810 on the first two years i could play like that.and if i had the money i would buy the same equipment too.so i can't see your point

  • you are pretty god damn incredible for just two years of playing. keep it up

  • nice drumkit, and nice drumming. your calm and like "feeling" the song :P nice work!

  • Il love your drumset and your drumming.

  • Dont mind about the double bass drum dude!! It need to pass 4 years for me to manage playing the riff with the double bass... You bare very nice drummer!!! Good Job!! Keep on drumming!

  • dude at under 2 years playing...most people can't even play along to nirvana. consider yourself advanced. be proud of yourself...alot of people here are.

  • ur a beast

  • great cover

  • nice one man, dont worry about double bass that comes in time, see like i can do that double bass but i cant do all the left foot while doing everything else for the first 2 mins of the vid. i started the wrong way round and went striahgt to double bass so my left foot coordination isnt as good. like you started with left foot coordination and are going on double pedal

  • Cool vid dude. Loved the snare work at around 2.39! Killer song, love Opeth. Keep it up man, killer work for under 2 years

  • this is good a cover as i've heard. Excellent job man! now go practice the fast part of the song :) \m/

  • Fuk yeah Chris Fuk yeah!

  • y'know what i love about your drumming? You only post videos of what you're confident with and know you play well, it's clear you worked on your double bass drumming for this song. That's a great quality for playing in a band. You don't just throw in something you heard that sounds cool, you make sure you have it well under control first and it's far more impressive than seeing someone play something more difficult less comfortably.

  • i luv u and ur work

i really look up to u as a drummer

  • Nice videos, again.. And keep porcupine and opeth on, they must be heard.

  • If I was as good as you at drums I would definitely be playing alot of Opeth songs...... put some more up!

  • holy hell..brutality..

  • i'm about to buy a wuhan china wich size do you recommend?

    thx

  • 18" sounds great. Really trashy and loud. The smaller the size, the quicker the decay with wuhans

  • Holy hell that's some clean playing man. Nice recording quality and beautiful playing.

    Peace

  • This was great. Practice goes a long way.

  • beautiful

  • You are AMAZING !!!! You have an amazing drum kit and many abillities to use on it !!! Keep playing man \m/

  • May the blood of Jesus Christ run through this like rain..............

  • i'm a little confused by that statement....

  • its just my prayer....you have a God given talent.....I wish you blessings through it...........

  • thank you very much :) I was confused, because many Opeth fans are very sarcastic, and say inflammatory things in a mocking religious tone...even Mikael Akerfeldt himself jokes that they are a satanic band.

Anyhow, thank you once again! :) cheers

  • what kind of mics are u using? awesome sounds

  • man thats a fucking nice kit for only have been playing two years then again ur really good for two years of playing

  • whoa!!awesome!!

  • Very well played

  • i love ur roll at 1:01

  • you shure play more than 2 years now. if you really play for 2 years now than you should go to a school for supertalented.

  • toca bacan pero no esta bien sacada la cancion

  • how do u tune ur snare?? just curious

  • really good

  • Great drumming!Great drum set!Great cover!Sounds are perfect!See my videos if you want other generes!EVERYTHING IS MUSIC!HAPPY NEW YEAR!MUSIC4EVER!WALTERTHEDRUMMER

  • good job man...regarding the first part double pedal try to learn the heel-toe technique it will really help you :) keep it up i want to see the first part!!

  • el bombo suena muy bien// the bass drum sounds really good

  • I love your cymbals man.

And keep it up, and keep working on the first part. even I can't play the double bass part yet, but I am trying hard to. After all, it's Martin Lopez we are talking about here. :)

    Definitely 5* video! :)

  • Man,your drumming is perfect,and your drum sound...mmm...i will be honest;THE BEST I EVER HEARD.Awesome!!!

  • Your snare is fucking tasty.

  • Your good dont get me wrong. but for a two year drummer how come you have K custom cymbals?

  • For the types of music I play, i need versatility, and the K/K-customs are perfect. I don't see the sense in limiting myself hardware-wise if my goal is to make a career out of music, that's why I've invested SO much of my own hard-earned money into my setup and lessons....Why buy something now that i KNOW i'll end up having to replace later, and end up having spent more than i needed? Besides, the K Customs aren't THAT much more than A's or A-Customs :)

  • Yeah i see what you mean. I wish i could afford those cymbals.

  • Otherwise good, considering the time you've played drums (got talent), but the playing is sometimes a little fluffy. Maybe a bit more aggression to the toms and cymbals at times? Now it's all the time quite silent with the ghost notes and stuff. For instance, sometimes you're so busy concentrating on the groove that you forget to hit the snare drum vigorously. A little more dynamics on the upper front (hitting the drums hard) and it's cool.

  • are you sure thats a 13 in k hats? they look big. im not saying your wrong about your own kit. i just wanna clarify. i really like the k hats and i dont know what kinda i want to get yet. im somewhere between those, the k/z, or the k light.

  • This is the coolest thing I've seen all friggen day. I am stunned.

This just blows my mind. It was so smooth and effortless. And the audio was the best I've heard on any home recording like this.

I love the drums, I love all those cymbals...

And the fact that it's only been two years since you began playing. You give me hope, Chris. I've played guitar and bass for several years and just bought my first drum kit. You showed me that I just might have a chance.

    Mind blowing performance, sir.

  • whats the best bass mic out of these 3 for recording? the audix d6, akg d112, or the shure beta 52? Did you have to eq your bass sound a lot for this recording?

  • honestly i'd say that bass can be difficult to get a good dry sound from, the type of drum and the tuning DEFINITELY matters....that said, the Audix D6 is really worry-free in that regard...as long as the drum sounds good to your ear, you'll get a really nice pre-eq'd kick sound from that mic without really needing a lot of post processing. Now, add some EQ and a bit of compression, and it sounds even better. I've used the B52, with bad results, an SM57 actually sounded better on the kick drum

  • are u serious u have only been playin for 2 yrs i mean fuuuck ur good 5 stars man *claps*

  • yep, two full years as of mid-december :) thanks mate

  • nice kit dude

  • hey man have you checked out the new Opeth album, you should try out the first half of the song Hessian Peel, its absolutely amazing. Great job on this btw, 5 stars.

  • sounds like gavin harrison's "would be" version of an opeth track.

  • really good man. i can hear a lotof flamming mainly between the bass drum on the recording and ur bass drum, but as u get better im sure u will be more precise. for two years thats awesome.

  • jese man i just want to know how do you know how to play like this under 2 years? any lessons?

  • Wow ;) nice man you nailed it!

I was planning covering this or wreath but still need to be able to hold the speed for long times :(.

    Cheers!

    Diego.

  • dude you play UNDER 2 YEARS !!!! WTF!!!! I now feel really fucking shitty :D

  • yeah dude .. i play like 10 years now.. and i consider myself a good drummer .. but i feel like a total noob right now -.-

  • more to a mix than just snare... playing is great! keep it up.

  • Damn the sound is awesome, I love your kit.

And the splash/bell stuff you got going on on your left is awesome, I'll try it out. : )

  • chrisssss... LET'S GO TO BOSTON!!!!!

  • very nice :)

  • you keep getting better and better. This month is our 2-year-drumming-anniversary isn't it?

  • actually i started in December of 06, so i have a little bit to go yet :) thanks for the compliment though frank! keep practicing man!

  • Hey man, good stuff. Growing the hair out? Haha. How are you like the coated tom heads? Great video. Martin Lopez is an awesome drummer, and Opeth is the shit.
