Hi there. I'd just like to say that this is one of the most touching and soulful renditions of Scarborough Fair that I've ever seen. You and your brother are extremely talented individuals, and I appreciate all of the time and effort that went into this video. Voices like yours are what make YouTube a better place. Thank-you, and please keep it up, this is amazing!
Can anyone recommend me some software to use to record multitracks such as this? Any video-combing programs, sound programs. Things of that nature. I would really appreciate a response :)
@daniscool99 Do you mind messaging me some sort of contact info? Like MSN or etc so I could get a couple more questions answered etc? I would really appreciate it!

i absolutely love this arrangement. ive listened to it so much i made another high note that I sing for the final note to harmonize with and i think it sounds boss!
I'm a huge choral geek and big Simon & Garfunkel fan. This made my day. Love the richness you guys added. All the minor chords were fantastic. Nice rendition!!!
At 2:51 my ear so desperately wants to hear that chord held a bit longer while the bass 2 moves down to the low F. Whitacre does movements like this all the time. All in all this is fantastic, I would love a sheet for it. You could probably make some money publishing sheet music.
Have not listened to this in a while. I was purging my fav list. Re-found this. Purging is good. You don't know what treasures you'll find. RE-Like, Re-fave!
I listen to your stuff all the time, sir, I must say that I enjoy this one a little more than the rest of yours, and not because all of it is (barely, mind you) in my natural vocal range.
O.M.G. you guys are PHENOMENAL!!!! i was completely mesmerized. my favorite song now with my favorite singers! YAYYY!!! great job, keep up the good work!!!<3
Amazing...I love the chords. Only, why is everyone moving to Final Cut and Logic? They're so expensive and not always better than similar software that's a ton cheaper. Everyone says Apple's the way to go, but I've seen better for less (I won't give product names because I'm not spamming).
Great video though. The bass was simply incredible. Love that you can sync so well.
Kudos! You must take it as a huge compliment that you're so good people just have to believe you use electronic gadgetry to get there. Keep on keepin' on!
This is definitely my 2nd best one of all that you have posted (I just don't know if the Hercules one can be beat :P). Well done on both the choice of song, arrangement, and video editing.
Well, ... it is the pitch correcting software that bugs me. Everyone is using it, so recordings are always perfectly tuned. Try it live with 8 different guys and use your brain to align all the jazz chords in perfect pitch, then I will be impressed. As it is, I would say your editing, enhancement and computer skills are off the chart.
@Allinfun6789 Obviously, your "expert" ear is mistaken. Not only is this not pitch-corrected, but we have 2 videos posted online of our quartet and some friends singing it. Use your brain to align that.
@Allinfun6789 There are actually some of us vocalists out there who know how to sing in-tune... Don't let Nashville or all the other famous fakers out there convince you otherwise :P
@Allinfun6789 - so what are you saying its impossible for someone to get all of this perfect without pitch correction? Its not. I hear it all the time here in NYC. The Carpenters used to do this kind of harmony live - so did the Beach Boys.
Well, ... it is the pitch correcting software that bugs me. Everyone is using it, so recordings are always perfectly tuned. Try it live with 8 different guys and use your brain to align all the jazz chords in perfect pitch, then i will be impressed
@Allinfun6789 Too bad I'm not using any. I wouldn't deny it if I did. I have on other ones before, but I'm assuming you wouldn't consider the possibility that there's musicians out there who know what they're doing.
OK, I'll bite. You did nothing to clean the 8 traks of recording? So, you could produce the same sound using say, Garage Band? There are musicians that know what their doing. I have seen the King Singers live in concert at the TMEA conference, and again in Washington. They were as close to perfection as I have heard. However, they sound much better on their CD's, and on each CD they make a statement about the use of professional recoding equipment, and the many, many takes and redos.
@Allinfun6789 I actually made this recording using Garage Band. All I used was a tiny bit of that awful reverb slider and some volume automation. No EQs and a tiny bit of the compression slider.. lol. But mostly just panning the voices to either side and making sure they were approximately the same volume.
@daniscool99 - exactly! Stand up for yourself dude. There are too many people out there mired in mediocrity that they can't fathom someone can actually do this just with their voice.
@daniscool99 Do you think i could get the lyrics to this? i can't always quite tell what they are while there are moving parts and other lines interfering with the integrity of the sounds.
Stunning performance and great close-harmony arrangement. Thank you for all the work it took to do this. I'm with everybody else - would love a whole album of this.
I love how people have no ears or difformed ones. How can you begin to complain about how this was sung? Because it borderline brought me to tears the first time I heard it. Easily most beautiful harmony I have ever heard. Seriously, it's not like anyone could do any better than this. SO SHUT YOUR TRAPS AND LOVE THIS AMAZINGNESS.
Oh my fucking god. This... this was mindblowing. Seriously. I downloaded all your multitracks and oh my fucking god. This is... just... so good. I would pay good money for this. Seriously. One of the best renditions of Scarborough Fair out there, and that's saying A LOT.
Danny you are totally awesome. Coming from a barbershop background with my dad as a semi finalist and I myself being a quarter finalist., I have enjoyed listening to you and just want you to know that I think you are really talented.
@BrabSantenBodWetos vocal spectrum is a quartet of four people. They happen to have sung it before (and recorded with GHG). It is arranged by Stan Engebretson (sp?).
@daniscool99 I clicked like... but there are the VERY small things that I am hearing. The high notes seem strained for some reason, but thats odd because your a tenor.
@daniscool99 hes certainly better than I am. the third note is out of my range... thats because Im a super low bass.... which kind of sucks in barbershop.
@scorpioninpink if you knew how hard it is to do what he is doing, you wouldn't post such blasphemous words :P danny, you and your group are friggin fantastic, don't let anyone tell you any differently.
PS- For those of you who don't think I know what I'm talking about, I am a vocal music education student. i know my music :P
@dawgluva15 i said "not good at all but good job although it needs improvement"... wat's wrong with that? there are rooms for improvement! it's just i've seen many versions of scarborough fair that is way better than them... i just said they need improvement! and BTW they didn't react because they know i didn't said anything wrong... you are a vocal music education student but you sure don't act like one...
@scorpioninpink of course there is room for improvement, there is ALWAYS room for improvement, but to tell someone they were "not good at all" when almost 900 people disagree with you...yea...doesn't seem like a wise choice to me. I have my opinions, you have yours, let's not be immature and argue about it any longer. truce?
@grubby7911 wat bitter? i just said it needs improvement... you know what, i will stop commenting on your comments because it is useless to get into your brain... BTW, not accepting your flaw(in this case, their flaw) is a sign that you are not a great student... you don't have to reply because idon'twant to start a useless argument here for the criticism i gave to them...
@scorpioninpink "not good at all" seriously? unless you have perfect pitch and have performed this in multi-track yourself, you really can't make that statement. At the very least, it's good. Find a grenade and eat it.
@scorpioninpink I know other people have wanted to start an argument, and you didn't say anything necessarily bad. I'm just curious, what advice do you have for Danny and his brother, or what needs to be improved upon do you think? They aren't perfect, but they do a fine good job, and I think you agree with that. Anyways, I'm sure if you had any tips, they'd appreciate hearing them. Should I add that I'm a music student too? as well as Danny's best friend?... probably not
i love what you guys are doing in this vid! the only thing (and it's a medium sized deal) is that i wish some spots were more open and tall. A good example of where is at 1:27. I heard "luv." For this song (at least i think), it needs nice tall open vowels every time (not that it was a big problem, because it really wasn't. I'm just giving my thoughts on your work). If that would have came out as "love," it would be bone chilling! Regardless, I love your projects! Keep it up!
Any way I could get a copy of this arrangement sir. This arrangement is beautiful, and I could listen to this for hours. Thanks for uploading this Danny
tenor two nice job on that note thats was hella good you guys are good...i have sung with andrea bocelli and i sing in the southern nevada musical arts society
What are the bass II notes of the final 3 chords? I love the work. Don't forget that basses can give the entire attitude and feel of a chord. This song gives a good number of opportunities, especially at the end. Warm, jazzy and showy, loving, foreboding. Try to incorporate that a bit; it's all in the placement, but great work. Wish I had more bass range, but at 14, what can you expect?
Wow, this is one of my favourite songs and you just made it more awesome to listen to. Big thumbs up for both of you ;) love the low bass! gives me shivers every time!
Stupid question - is there an MP3 or something of this? Would love to have it on my iphone for more enjoyment!
wonderful harmonies. the disenent chord is a hard one to pull off but you did it. your tenor is spot on and the bari was nice. bass could have more though, loved it.
awesome job- the tuning is great! Pardon my ignorance, but could you let me know what equipment is needed for the multi-tracking? I would like to learn. Email djbshop@yahoo.com. thx
Conrgats! You sound exactly like a uber-talented choir. This is something that is very hard to acheive... by yourself. Major Kudos and a goood job! I love the arragement as well.
I simply love this song. You are extremely talented and I'm so happy you put these videos on Youtube to share with everyone. Honestly, I like listening to each individual part, especially the bass. I was wondering if you could possibly do "Weep No More." It's a beautiful song that sounds even more amazing when all guys sing it. I know you would give it justice.

@dawgluva15 i said "not good at all but good job although it needs improvement"... wat's wrong with that? there are rooms for improvement! it's just i've seen many versions of scarborough fair that is way better than them... i just said they need improvement! and BTW they didn't react because they know i didn't said anything wrong... you are a vocal music education student but you sure don't act like one...
scorpioninpink 1 year ago
@scorpioninpink of course there is room for improvement, there is ALWAYS room for improvement, but to tell someone they were "not good at all" when almost 900 people disagree with you...yea...doesn't seem like a wise choice to me. I have my opinions, you have yours, let's not be immature and argue about it any longer. truce?

@dawgluva15 ok, truce...

@scorpioninpink you must just be bitter. ANYTHING can use improvement, such as your attitude, however this was a great feat to pull off
grubby7911 1 year ago
@grubby7911 wat bitter? i just said it needs improvement... you know what, i will stop commenting on your comments because it is useless to get into your brain... BTW, not accepting your flaw(in this case, their flaw) is a sign that you are not a great student... you don't have to reply because idon'twant to start a useless argument here for the criticism i gave to them...
scorpioninpink 1 year ago

Keep it up!

Wow that was beyond amazing. The tone a tuning were impeccable. Did you transcribe the Vocal Spectrum version yourself or did you find it?

I simply love this song. You are extremely talented and I'm so happy you put these videos on Youtube to share with everyone. Honestly, I like listening to each individual part, especially the bass. I was wondering if you could possibly do "Weep No More." It's a beautiful song that sounds even more amazing when all guys sing it. I know you would give it justice.
