  • Hey this is actually a pretty nice version. Still liked the original singer better but the Jolin sang differently than original singer's style so it's okay to listen to something different occasionally.

  • it's nice, try watch the version in the Philippines , search Sarah Geronimo [I Won't Last a Day Without You], she's pop star princess in phil.

  • wow very nice accent love it hehehehe i realy really love it to hear very nice in my ears... love it so much. to the singer your my idol now heheheheh

  • 真的很喜歡Jolin唱英文慢歌

    很有感情很有感覺!!

  • yeah.. good accent..... ;-)

  • Really nice....

  • i love her singing english

  • Lovely rendition of this wonderful song. Jolin Tsai sings as delicately and prettily as she herself is.

m41a1's comments are error-ridden about native/non-native speakers of English. A linguistics class might assist this person is learning something about jaw, tongue, soft palate, and throat movements so he/she can speak with some credibility. Ms. Tsai's pronunciation is better than many native speakers. Try listening to Tanya Chua also.

tingc92, I agree: I'd love to hear this in Chinese!

  • it would be nice if they can translate it over to chinese and sing it in that.

    Great song!

  • nice song !

    It's fantastic that girl !!

  • for you MOO...

  • M41a1 - biggest hater EVER

This song is so well sung

I prefer jolins voice over any "perfect english" speaking person

  • 承认jolin是位很努力的歌手,她也知道自己的歌功的不足,故近年来都走舞曲主打,在舞蹈上也下了不少功夫。不过有些东西如果没有天分,就需要更多的付出,现在的娱乐圈更是不好混的·祝福她吧

  • BTW -- I hear all ye what you're saying about "beautiful accent" and all in trying to make lemonade out of lemons, but take a listen of Julio Inglesias singing Starry Starry Night on Youtube as another example of foreign singer trying to sing in non-native tongue. It starts out well with good intentions and dabbling in crossing borders and markets but tends to wind up as epic failures. Julio like Jolin is well establish in their own markets and they should just accept that and don't experiment.

  • @m41a1

    Are you fucking retarded?

  • I know of only 1 male DJ on ICRT radio who never spent time living Stateside, learned all his English in Taiwan and can mimic colloquial American speech almost undetectable of accent. That's a very very rare talent. Unfortunately, Jolin Tsai is not an execption, that's why native speakers can detect the accent immediately. But to her ears she's already done her best to give her some credit.

  • Since non-Native English speakers did not learn English speech in the same part of the brain where they learned Chinese, there are bound to be major differences in pronunciation compared to native speakers. As hard as they can try, an adult Chinese speaker won't be able to mimic like children, hence the accent.

  • Non native English speakers typically can't detect variations from what they hear and what they wind up repeating. In English speech, native speakers generate sound from the tip of the tongue with little jaw movement. Chinese speakers are trained to generate sounds by using lots of jaw movement and generate sound from within the mouth. An adult Chinese student of English will be using a different part of the brain compared to babies and children under 12yro.

  • There are very very few people who are born & raised & continue to live in non-English speaking countries who can perfect accents & pronounce like native speakers. Biologically, once you're past 12 years of age or so, all your learning is done in a different part of the brain. For non-native speakers, unless they are able immerse themselves in a 100% English speaking environment, where you even start dreaming in English, there is very very little chance they can get English speech right.

  • wow, just like the original, with asian spice.....love it...

  • good video!

  • 還是喜歡她的嗓音...

  • damn it people. why dont you shut up about her accent. i think its fine. appreciate the song rather than thinking your better cuz your english is better than hers. if your in the mood to criticize, dont do it here..

  • pretty song i like it

  • i very very like this song

  • I'm stunned by her accent. Thought her English would be better than that. Another fine example why Chinese signers should not attempt to sing in English before they have a good grasp of that language. Well, I hate to say this but she looked rather silly in the video by singing in English. JMHO.

  • I Won't Last a Day Without You

  • She obviously had a teacher who wasn't American or Canadian. her phrasing is English.

  • Great job Jolin :)

  • ayus au
