Let the Nice Women know about the great Colorado Company Purplus, I have been using them for a long time to Order different products for my independent freelancing IT business. storedotpurplusdotnetforwardslashmiwi7pr64dothtml . Reason why I recommended Windows Professional 64 Bit is because the Kernel is patched, better security* DEP is supported @ hardware level, 64bit is the future anyways. Otherwise she should install Mandriva 2011 or openSUSE <(") Or All 3 :-)
If she doesn't like Ubuntu she should just buy and install windows... I mean, it doesn't take that long. I love Ubuntu though, it's so much faster than windows.
It's easy to criticize someone for not understanding an operating system they're unfamiliar with if it was easy for you. However, this story not only now shines a negative light on Ubuntu specifically and Linux generally... but WORST OF ALL it makes the Linux community seem like a bunch of e-thugs..
Not really the image I want coming across to people such as this girl. Especially since that is not the truth. This was an opportunity to publicize and indirectly market Linux. What a shame.
omg she is so so stupid i am 14 years old who is in high school and i can use ubuntu wtf she's going to Madison Area Technical College...... keyword technical?????
Ridiculous. The girl is stupid. For starters, know what you're getting before you dedicate time and money into it. Second, why would you need to drop out of classes? The majority of online courses can easily be completed with just a browser, and even if there were some Windows applications she did need, there's always WINE or even open source implementations to substitute for Windows software.
Hey, Im on hardy heron right now, OMG! why dosent she kust borrow a copy of winblows and install it?! even better, just learn how to use it, she would probably love it if she learned how to use it!
oh god. As a computer science student, and as a Madison native, this kind of behavior on the part of the Linux geeks is embarrassing. I think they forget that not everyone has the engineer mindset of enjoying spending time to figure things out. Most people have the completely valid expectation that things will be easy to use and understand.
Well I agree that the hardcore Linux geeks went way overboard, so did the news station and the woman in question. I mean, she clearly went to the media before she ever sought real help or an understanding of what she had purchased.
Consumers need to accept some responsibility for their purchases.
That is definitely true. To be honest, the first report on her troubles angered me as a computer geek. I felt like she did not put the effort in to understand the problem. However, upon reflection, I think that this reaction is all to easy for people who are passionate and knowledgeable in a field: we forget that a lot of what we consider "common sense" when it comes to computers was built through years of playing around and tinkering with computers. Not everyone has that experience.
look, it is easy to learn ubuntu. i'm not gonna personally attack her but she didn't even try, god. just find someone or a service or just a website to teach you about it and it wouldn't take long (1 day-1 week) to know and like it more and better than windows.
she is a dummy i remember being 6 years old and able to use ubuntu lolz its easy

I would have taken her five minutes to get familiar with the system. Really, it's not that hard.
She didn't see a start menu and she went blank, she is fucking stupid.

Há que respeitar e ter respeito. A culpa não é da miúda, mas sim da empresa que lhe vendeu o produto sem qualquer tipo de formação.
