Love my ASAT Classic, it will destroy any Fender head to head in all aspects, especially Leo's proprietary pick ups. He sold Fender but he walked with all his good stuff. Awesome guitar, THE Tele...bad ass rig.

Leo Fender was a genius. Not only did he one up himself with guitars like this but the Stingray (a.k.a. my favorite bass) is proof that he can do it with a bass as well!

People are always saying G and L's are much better than Fenders. I haven't had a chance to play a GL but i love Fender! COuld some explain what makes them "superior"?

@MyBeardisGood I have played a few and I certainly wouldn't say they are superior, but definitely different guitars. I do believe however that G&L has better QC than Fender, but I would take a good ol' traditionally design strat anyday, but thats just my preference ( and yes before you say it I know G&L stands for George Fullerton and Leo Fender). :)

G and L are the best guitars I have ever played.I have been playing for 21 years. My trusty USA 1991 Fender strat plus just sits there now ;-PI have a ASAT tribute semi hollow Tele style with the P 90' pick ups and the F hole. NICE!

Played one of these the other week. Beautiful sounding guitar with a great feel. I favor them over Teles mostly due to the smaller width at the nut, which I'm more used to.

I really wanted a Fender Tele. Played a dozen or so, never found one that played the way I expected. Tried to find a Strat, same result. The American Deluxe with so called "noiseless pickups" was a piece of junk. Finally..... found a used 1997 ASAT Classic. Fell in love with it immediately. Can cover anything from Floyd to Zep. Plays like butter. Sounds killer. Way to go G&L.

Actually the standard G&L #1 neck is similar to a Fender 57 neck. They are chunky, not a slim modern.
