Hey everyone thanks for the comments and the likes, I have picked up the guitar again after a long time of not playing, and am working on some originals, I'm going to post them on youtube when I'm done so subscribe if you want to see them
@StillStuckLearning In my opinion Achilles is harder than Stairway. I would say this one's definitely intermediate, whereas Stairway I would say is actually easy comparatively. Definitely not a HARD solo, though. Just takes a lot of playbacks to get the little intricacies and timing. Also, in my opinion, this one blows Stairway out of the water... Don't know why Stairway is always at the top of best solo lists when things like this exist from the same player.
this isnt the afinity series, this is an old beatup squier guitar from the 80's. i just put a really nice pickup in the bridge. if you buy a tele you wont regret it
actually he only used the tele for the first two albums... after that he started using his customized les paul... he could cut the coils on it and make it sound exactly like a telecaster... he really is a genious with a guitar...
ive heard his public reason for that but i wonder what the real reason is .maybe cause he wasalways on herion alot and lp are easy to muff with or maybe becuse they have a fuller sound but then again you can do that with your amp who knows
I like the way you picked up on the stumbling feel of the timing in the first few bars, that's one of the thing that really makes this solo work so well with the song. Starting awkwardly but building up to unstoppable momentum is pretty much the theme of the song
hey thanks for the positive feedback. makes me feel pretty good being compared with one of the most popular guitarists on youtube. and that is correct an opinion cant be wrong
his sloppy style gives the feeling of rock while live, I say! I mean he improvises to cover up a mistake, example like he repeats it twice as if he meant it... Like at TSRTS, right before Black Dog, he played a part of Bring it on Home and he did a mistake, but he did it again and that mistake would be easy to fix it the 2nd time, so he does it impurpose... And yes indeed, it sounds amazing!
Any real Led Zeppelin fan who's a guitarist knows Page recorded with Teles. Therefore, most real LZ fans own a telecaster, as well as a Les Paul if it can be afforded.
i been playing for almost a year now and have made some progression. I have learned some van halen, Metallica, and led zeppelin but i have hit a speed bump. Is this a good song for me to learn to get past that speed bump.
Hey man, I would just go and get the STandard series for $200. I also saw a sick double humbucking Squier Tele, look up "Squier by Fender Tele Custom Electric Guitar" for $230.
thanks man. i ususually learn jimmy page solos quicker then i learn other guitarists beacause i play alot of zeppelin so i kinda adapted to his style.
buying a guitar is somthing you cant ask somone else about.its a matter of personal preference. if your playing a low end guitar from zellers and it feels good buy it.
You were good with what you played. You did skip a few minor parts and I don't blame you, because when stuffs too hard you need to change it and not screw it up.
Good job. I'm positive Page used a telecaster on that solo, not a Les Paul. So you're on the right track. He played more tele on Zep albums than a lot of people realize.
i have no clue. its from like 88 i think. probably just a standard.those shiny things that look like pickups are actually just pieces of sheet metal so you cant see the wood through the pickhaurd
nice job,you played that really well,i also posted this song, give it a look and see what you think,i think we pretty much played it very similiar as far as scales being used.

Stairway solo is so easy... Achilles is a lot more complex
Burzum9666owns 2 months ago
How difficult is this? Harder or easier than Stairway's solo?

Mrmaniac15765 4 years ago
its an older squier from the 80's. and it has a different pickup
JuliusGulius 4 years ago
are the squier affinty series ($169) any good??

This guitar: Fender Squier Vintage Mod.Tele SH Metallic Red
And this amplifier: Frontman FM 212 R Combo, 100 Watt, 2x12 "Speaker, 3 Kanäle
They are a good choice? ... They are good?
DidoSLB 4 years ago
not really. Telecasters are too twangy for my tastes, and solid state amplifiers dont really sound that good.
dantes1815 4 years ago

JuliusGulius 4 years ago
Good job. I'm positive Page used a telecaster on that solo, not a Les Paul. So you're on the right track. He played more tele on Zep albums than a lot of people realize.
soulfinger 4 years ago
Page used a Strat in "The Crunge"(houses of the holy)
also. about achilles..
when U pay close attention to the solo, you will hear that fat tone that comes from a Gibson. ;)
wero454 4 years ago
Nice job on the solo. Argueably, one of the best Zep tunes. Kick ass!
cincyrocked 4 years ago
what model squier is that?

yeah telecasters rule even though this one is just a squier
JuliusGulius 4 years ago
even a squier can put out some good sounds. If your using a distort, it doesnt matter to me.
lardmcfatso 4 years ago
doesn't matter about the guitar its the player.if u give jimmy page any guitar through any amp he'll still sound sweet !!
