I would like to see a self defense guy vs a kick boxer in a street fight , it would be interesting because the self defense guy knows how to fight in street fights and the kick boxer knows how to fight skilled opponents .I think the kick boxer would win because his shots would not be easy to defend and with a couple of shots the self defence guy would be in the hospital

I know they say its fighting but we must remember that it is martial "Arts" or choreographed fighting. These are set up in planned situations where they know whats coming. I want to believe there is such thing as a true master that could "beat up" an experienced street fighter but I have never heard of or actually seen anything that it's true.

@jafling That's why you practice over and over again. The point is to build up a "muscle memory" with these techniques, so much so that it becomes second nature. Obviously there is no such thing as some Grandmaster martial artist who can kick the shit out of everybody with some crazy ninja moves or anything like that. In a real life situation, martial arts aren't nearly as flashy as they're made out to be, but they can still be incredibly useful

fuck all the haters, it doesn't matter if these moves are 100% proven to work or not. what matters is that in stead of standing there like a bitch when someone is threatening your life it is better to act, or have a plan than to become a victim. thats not to say that you should attack everyone with a gun, thats how you get shot, but if you have the opportunity to disarm someone, it is better to do it than to not.

I have a black belt in Hapkido...basically neighbors to Aikido and this stuff really does work. In fact...about 2 years ago I was attacked by someone with a knife and I used the move that looks very similar to 1:41...I ended up breaking his hand and fingers(small joint manipulations) because he refused to drop the knife. So very good! As always in any good movie, don't mess with the man with the running jacket

When I watch the gun in most of these, I keep thinking that if the attacker pulled the trigger, during most of the "disarming" the "victim" would be dead. Sure you might be flipping the guy, but you'd also be shot.

@waltpark by drilling these movements and locks into your head by hours and hours of training eventually it will become a reaction and in the case of a person trained to react reaction is faster then the action. in fact i think that's even a physics law called "Bohr's law" which i believe says any manual action is faster when its a reaction or something like that.

Even with specialized training, the time to pull the trigger is less than the time to notice you have to do something, and do it. If it was a knife, that's a lot different. But that gun would have killed the guy more times than the "hero" will ever win.
