Many years ago, Rue appeared on the soap, Another World, as a nanny or maid or something like that, and her character was the epitome of the word frump...No one could have made me believe that she would one day be transformed into a convincing "mattress", to coin a phrase from Sophia. She ideed was beautiful on the golden girls and could wear stylish clothing like no other. After Dorothy, she was my favorite.

My favourite Golden Girl! I thought Rue McLanahan was totally underrated. She was the funniest out of all of them. Her best scenes were in the teen pregnancy with Merrill, Rose's lesbian episode, the one where George Clooney guested, Rose dating a little person, the "Break In" episode with mace, insomnia while writing a book.
