Glad I could help, you'll find that the 2nd time around, should you get there, is even easier, takes about 10 minutes 2nd time. I now have 211,320 miles and it doesn't even leak oil (but it burns a little between changes). Remember, don't use anything but MAF cleaner, there is supposed to be a coating to help prevent the carbon buildup. I've never had AC problems, knock on wood!
This seems to be a common problem with the V6 models. I currently have 205,956 miles on mine and this has happened twice to me. The problem is revealed when you unbolt the assembly that connects the post- Mass Air Flow sensor block to the engine block, I believe it was 4 screws, could be 5, removing that will reveal that there is a ravine path which is supposed to allow air to pass to the IAC. You will find it to be full of carbon deposits. Clean it with MAF cleaner ($4) not carb cleaner!
@garyromero1 You are right on the money !!! Mine was dirty as hell... Also If you're Ac is low and it's kicking on and off that also will cause a bad idle easy to fix either fix the A.C. Or Find the ac Pressure switch witch is usually By where you fill it... Mine was in front of my battery everything on this car is a pain in the ass to get too.
JUst disconect it until you get you're A>C fixed Or recharged....
Gotta love that "transmissions replaced at 10,000 miles", what a line of shit. The Fusion was rated higher in reliability than the Camry, literally the most reliable vehicle ever to roll out of a Ford plant...figures he'd be a Chrysler freak...
Leave the battery unplugged for half an hour to reset the OEM CPU settings. If that doesn't fix it have it plugged in at an AutoZone or Advance for FREE. It is an oxygen aknoledgement problem. A car has to have a prime mixture of air/fule/spark to run. Worst case senario you may need an O2 sensor. If I am wrong fee free to sue me. :)
Have you ever had this problem fixed??? my car is the same model and make... i took off my maf sensor connection seemed to help it a little bit.. i was told by a mechanic it could be a vacuum line from the motor that could be cracked or regulators
message me back if you ever found out wat was wrong with your ride also just to note... the diagnostic tool said my timin was over retarded and i had fuel rail pressure problems????
@fmartinez2580 I really haven't found a solution to this problem, I've been told about the vacuum line also..many times, but I haven't had the time to check on it or take it somewhere to get it checked. I can tell you the problem it's not done as before, since i put motorcraft air/oil/fuel filter, plugs, spark plugs. Also I put two catalytic converters 'cause i removed them some time ago and the car runs better than ever, and my dgnstic tool just shows some O2 sensor failure.
@jgeragt01 thats a huge vacuum leak most likely at the pcv hoses or the upper and lower intake gaskets on v6. I have a 00 SVT was running lean on bank2 and it was intake gaskets. whats your code's

my contour died on the 5th of june. we found out it was the head gasket cracks easily on contours and it can make the vacuum hose split from the pressure.
i had the same prob found it to be 2 things on was the iac had a broken wire going to it and the main vaccum supply line was cracked right below the iac
Bouncy Idle makes me think of two things that could possible be wrong; #1 it could be a vacuum leak somewhere I would check EGR and EVAP vaccum lines also check the intake plenum or lower intake manifold for suction sounds (you can spray carb cleaner around suspect areas to confirm. #2 The Idle Air Control motor could be ruined. I just though of a 3rd If this engine (not sure) has an EGR valve check that and make sure its not stuck I know alot of cars now use exhaust cams for EGR hope this helps
i have a 95 contour that is doing the SAME fucking thing! and let me guess: if you turn on the air, heat, or defrost, it'll stall quicker, right? unless its winter, i dont even mess with air or heat, i have to drive with the windows open. i did find out that, if you put it into neutral when stopped then shift back to drive when you gotta go, you wont stall.
they were changed, tps sensor was changed, and more stuff, but the problem seems to be an O2 sensor....but there are 3 so still don't know which one is failing, i love the car , it handles great and is reasonably fast, but haven't had the time to fix that problem =/
I HAVE THE PERFECT SOLUTION! LET'S JUST GET RID OF ALL OF OUR RACHET CONTOURS. MINE'S HAS PISSED ME OFF FOR THE LAST TIME AND SEEING THAT THESE CARS ARE NOTORIOUS FOR THESE PROBLEMS, DOESN'T MAKE IT ANY BETTER. I have purchase a timing belt ($500) Alternator ($318) Wheel Barrier ($350) now it's idling up and I here that I may need a idling sensor. Im selling it, that's if anyone will buy it (Scoff)!!!!
i have the same problem with the idle did you find out what it was i changes the tps ignition module fuel filter spark plus and oil , air filter problem is styll there
hi, i haven't been able to fix this problem, changed tps, MAF sensor, spark plugs, oil but nop, it keeps doing the same thing, im going to check error codes again to see what's wrong, uploaded another video of the same issue. if i find any solution i'll let you know.

Have you check your fuel pressure regulator ? I had the same problem, and disappear when I changed it.

Get rid of it, ford makes terrible cars, even the new ones which are 'oh so good' are having transmissions replaced ar 10,000mi.

My Mondeo does the same thing although it has 1.8 litre engine. But I don`t consider this as a problem.

if your ac refrigerant is low the compressor could be coming on and going off on low pressure repeatedly causing that fluctuation

iac valve.. or a slight vacuum leak somewhere on the upper intake manifold.. get the codes pulled also
