LMFAO i just broke the window at my local bus stop with one, wtf it fucking works, but you need to throw hard or with a few trys, and the shard i broke the window with is like 1 cm long and half a cm wide :|

It has to do with hardness. Glass is actually "harder" than iron on the Mohs scale, and spark plug ceramic (technically called "aluminium oxide ceramic") is much harder than glass. Aluminium oxide ceramic actually rates a 9 on the Mohs scale; diamonds are 10, glass is 6.5, and iron is 4.5. That's the key to the whole thing, and why it's surprisingly hard to break a window with a hammer and surprisingly easy to break it with a small, light little shard of innocent white spark plug ceramic

@jadegodinez porcelain is used in spark plugs, which is more dense then glass, so it depending on how big the porcelain is, and how hard you throw it, you can shatter, or spider web glass when its impacted upon.

@jadegodinez Tempered glass is stronger than regular glass, but as a result of the strengthening process there is a lot of stresses within the piece of glass. Normally these balance out and is part of what provides the added strength. If however the glass is chipped or cracked, it unbalances these stresses which then proceed to shatter the glass into small pieces.

Porcelain being harder than glass has a greater chance to chip it, especially if it's a sharp edge from a broken piece.

I had a $3000 stereo system in my car way back and my ex girlfriends boyfriend and his friends used the sparkplug on my car window which didn't shatter cuz of my tint on the glass which silenced it even more. From there they were able to peal the window back and open the door without making any sound. I was woken up at 2am by the cops asking me if I left my door open and come to find out my entire system jacked. They even muffled my alarm which prevented it from going off...
