  • To let the viewers know, you can't just dilute paint to "make your own primer". Primer is formulated differently than paint so that it will bond to the wood. One common reason for paint blistering is when primer is not used under the top coat.

  • @calidoggie True, but it does offer some protection because the thinned out paint "soaks" into the wood.

I do agree with you, a primer is best, I have to do things to save money, BTW the roof on that "dog House" is just as good as the day I painted it.

Thanks for the info, I do appreciate it.

  • Great project Bill! That should extend the life of the generator by several years.

  • @xmpsrt Yes it will protect it from the rain while in use, I store it in the shed when I am not using it.

    I bought it in 2003.

  • Very nice project Bill, ingenious idea. Great job as always. Jerry

  • Great project Bill. And I love the bungee-cord belt!! -Kevin

  • @MrGoosePit Yes these are my work pants and I only have one every day belt and did not want to get paint on it so I use a bungee cord on my work pants.

  • Good idea, I also have a small generator but Mine has faded paint because

    I didn't think of this

  • @jgant2008 I keep mine locked in the shed when it is not being used, this box is only used when I need the generator.

  • Interesting project. You do come up with some good ideas and enexpensive ways to do them.

  • @youthnotlost Thanks, well we came from a poor family and I don't believe in wasting anything, if the wood is good and even if it is small pieces I use it.

Every screw and nail that is useable I make use of it.
