  • I have watched this video at least 50 times! Outstanding!!

  • Best of the Best...

  • God Bless Queensryche !!!

  • America runs on capitalism. The dumb today will buy crap and demand nothing more...........................................good mainstream music is gone forever. Look underground.

  • I love how Geoff gets into the feel of the music around the 3 minute mark and then later on with the encouragement of the audience Michael does the same

  • Too damn awesome. This is about the 8th time I've seen this vid

  • Had to watch it again today haha it's too awesome

  • Simply amazing

  • Fuckin Awsome

  • WOW! Having had the "blessedness" to actually grow up listening to this style and genre of what I'd call purist rock 'n roll / metal, I loved their studio version of Della Brown on their Empire CD but have to say, I love this even more!!

Queensryche, Rush, Lynch Mob, Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, Dio, etc was what I played and listened to and today's so called music just makes me wanna puke! Nickelback is pretty good though, but the pop/rap young people seem to love today is just utter BS!!

  • a very groovy mystical song which I can listen to many times in a row. my fav Qr

  • OMFG!! It took me THIS long to come across this!! 6 minutes of pure EPIC!!

  • Why people would even mention Bieber here is beyond my belief, you people came here to get away from thats garbo music, so keep it away on here.

  • Beautiful acoustic version of a Queensryche Classic. They seriously should get Chris Degramo back. Why can't bands make music like this today. Epic stuff :)

  • Par excellance...

  • Absolutely masterful.... instant favorite.

  • They addapted this song PERFECTLY for unplugged! I was listening to this this morning on Empire, and reflecting on how good it was, but to addapt it so perfectly for this was nothing short of GENIOUS!!!

  • @NavyHornet1 Think it's you're computer, man.

  • @13ShadowsintheGrave Yes,you're right. It finally played thru after many tries. I love this version of Della Brown. Kudos to whoever posted it. Be sure to check out DC Coopers self-titled CD on Youtube. It's a great CD.

  • I live right up the street from Geoff's mom ;D

  • I love Queensryche!!!!!

  • damn, never gets old.

  • this song has such a special atmosphere. so fucking catchy melodies there

  • You have obviously never heard the vocal stylings of Justin Bieber!

  • @aaqaaqaaqaaqaaqaaqaa I'm waiting... hopefully bieber's voice will change before I hear him tho. the kid's got NOTHING on Geoff . Biber will be a distant memory from a bubblegum dream . But Queensryche will be played long after another bubblegum clone has been pushed down our throats . just keep mooing with all the other cattle.

  • @vulgarinsult: ever heard of sarcas

  • @aaqaaqaaqaaqaaqaaqaa Yeah, I doubt a Beiber fan would've made it to a Queensryche vid, even by accident.

  • This is very fucking good.

  • awesome ! so much talent !

  • Love Geoff Tate's Voice!

    I'm a Fan of his

    and Queensryche!

  • I love them in this mode! I tell you who else was great live and unplugged, that was the Almond Brothers! We need more bands today like the Ryche!

  • i agree with you totemdrum777 some of the bands who did unplugged were just atrocious and had no business sharing their atrocities with the world....but the QUEENSRYCHE!!!!! holy cow, doesn't get any better than this imho

  • lol listen to the lyrics, it's about a fading Hollywood starlet who is now homeless from what I hear, if it has any RL ties I have no clue.

  • That was pretty awesome.

  • Can you buy this album or download it?

  • Wade has now admitted to this murder to avoid the death penalty. He was found innocent but we all knew. How could the justice system be so broken?

  • This song is much older than the murder in Anchorage

  • I hear you my Alaskan sister. I've actually been listening to this band (one of my faves since Mindcrime but when Wade killed that woman it definitely reminded me of this song. I didn't know about any Seattle murders but there has been at least one more here in AK.

  • geoff tate used to work at toys r us

  • This song takes me away. I go off in the ocean far across the sunset and hear the segulls fly by. "Della Brown sees it all the time".

  • this song is not about murdered woman...Empire album was released in 1990....

  • Awesome Band and Awesome performance!

  • There was a Della Brown here in Anchorage, Alaska. She was my friend and she was murdered and raped also. I didn't know about this song until after she was murdered. September, 2000

  • I am sorry to hear that. I hope they caught the person or will soon catch the person who committed this horrible crime.

  • I stand corrected. You are right. The same man who murdered Della Brown in Alaska was later charged with another such crime in Seattle. My bad. Nonetheless, powerful music, meaning, substance, with heart. God bless.

  • pure coincedence!!!!!!!!! sorry

  • the album with this song was a decade before the lady called della brown was murdered

  • Geoff Tate is singing "Hard to choose, whiskey or a wife".

  • This song is about the rape, murder, and mutilation of Della Brown in Seattle, WA. Google it if you don't believe me. I lived in Seattle when this bullshit went down. This song is in her memory. Queensryche is da best, a cut above the rest, bottom-line

  • didn't realize thats what it was about. It gives this song a whole new dark, sad feeling. Even more amazing than it was.

  • I looked it up. Couldn't find a thing.

  • well deserved comment!

  • Holy crow!! I did NOT know that!!! Much as QR always searched deeper than the surface for their lyrical genius, I'm suddenly more touched by this song than I usually am! Thanks for passing this along!

  • INDEED!

  • bullocks the empire album is from 1990 the murder ypou talk about was in 2000, YOU look it up

  • what a band!

  • You people are fucking stupid if you can't understand these lyrics.

  • one of the best bands ever...need was promised land their last?

  • They have albums that are newer than Promised Land out. They don't have Chris DeGarmo on guitar though.

  • these guys are the real deal....no other band that did the Unplugged thing had such clean sound....it is a testament of thier talent to sound this good....awesome band...

  • I agree! Live shows with thease guys are amazing...

  • Sooooooooooo goood! The best unplugged ever! Yummy!

  • damn no band gives me chills like QR and Savatage NONE!! such deep and amazingly talented bands!

  • couldn't agree more m8

  • Hard to choose whiskey or wife huh???

  • it's "hard to choose whiskey FOR a wife..."

    deela brown is a woman

  • The lyrics say, "like your men you couldn't make them stay; hard to choose, whiskey or a wife." In other words, her men did not stay because they preferred the whiskey.

  • Yes, that is what he was saying. That all the men were alcholics and would rather spend time and money with booze.

  • I was responding to totemdrum777 who said that the lyrics say "hard to choose whiskey FOR a wife..." which is incorrect.

  • "hard to choose whiskey or wine" just saying, no dis meant

  • 10..teeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeen

  • Ovation Adamas

  • anyone know what kind of guitar michael is useing here... please!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • An incredible flawless perfect performance!!!!

  • Hey thanks for posting!!! I caught them live on may 30 here in phoenix......they JAMMED!!! people have opinions and its all good....they're still the best band.........Glad they are still rockin after all these years....>>THANKS again>>

  • absolutely flawless. I don't give a rats ass about looping at 1:08... watched it, so what... You are a God in the world of looping... This is an awesome performance...

  • FLAWLESS!!!!!

  • Man, yeah, so good.

  • ok...i love this band but.....at 1:08 watch Rock on the drums and listen to the high hat ryhtym...the sound you hear is not what he played.

  • Yep. Their soundman on mixer is probably looping this effect on the verse.

  • Comment removed

  • I did see that! Why can't you hear him doubling that lick? He does it more than once but you can't hear it! Strange!

  • I'm sorry...I mean to say that I can't hear it either and that I see what you mean.

  • Please. Are you serious? I am not even a drummer and I know if you hit hard and let it bounce you'll get the triple o more hit. Why would you loop that? these guys aren't rappers they are musicians.

  • prbolem is that isn't what he did...however, got my answer studying this alittel closer...left hand roll on the snare is what I heard..mistook it for the high hat oops

  • +1 These guys are all cream of the crop ! Back when the music was composed NOT slapped together .

You have the internet .. Look up each player and their credentials .. you may learn something

  • Ryche and Roll

  • 'ryche at their best, IMO.

  • we had this gig on tape too...my best buddy stayed up late and recorded this from MTV Unplugged...We love this so much...

So beautiful,no words can tell you...

  • So happy to find this unplugged version of a great Queensryche song, Della Brown. I actually had this performance on videotape! Always enjoyed and respected QR, and this song is a vastly underrated classic. If you've never seen them live in concert, get out there and go see them! They got lumped in with the 1980's "hair bands", but they are much more multi-dimensional than those bands, not to mention most rock bands of today!

  • DeGarmo is the greatest.

  • Music today just CANNOT compare/comprehend the GENIOUS of Queensryche. Music legends!

  • SO inspired, Tate just stares in awe at de Garmo, almost shaking his head in disbelief at how perfectly inspired he plays. Great album, Empire. Pity about the audicence not respecting Della Brown...but I'd probably have done the same if I was there watching rock music history happening.

  • great guitarists

  • This is when they were at there peak creatively. I thought they went downhill after Chris quit. His guitar sound, vocal range and songwriting talents were unique and it was never the same after he left.

  • I'm a huge Ryche fan. I have to say I have not been 100% satisfied with the bands work since Degarmo left. I like the stuff but its not the WOW of Rage For Order, Mindcrime, and Empire. Not to mention EP and Warning! Actually I think aside from being very underrated band, Rage is the most underrated album from them.

  • Nope. Wilton and DeGarmo were in from the beginning.

  • love this band....one of the best out there

  • cool

  • QUEENSRYCHE 4LIFE

  • Degarmo is no longer with them and is LACKS his guitar and vocals

  • Seen these guys 3 times and in the Pitts burgh area and always kicked arse.I hope they do another tour around here but all of the members not the new.

  • Ryche will be may 10 at palace theatre

  • nirvana at their best couldnt even come close to queensryche at their worst.

  • awesommmmmmmmme, love this song and it sounds sooo good unplugged! dude dont even put kurt cobain and geoff tate in the same sentence! Queensryche blows Nirvana away so badly its no competion, nirvana used to be my fav band BEFORE i found real musicianship and amazing bands such as Queensryche,Iron Maiden,Judas Priest,King Diamond,DIO with sabbath,Alice in chains and many more! kinda sad how overated nirvana is and how underated QR and AIC are,in my opinion the two best bands out of Washington

  • This band to come out of Seattle with any talent whatsoever. It's a shame that the world will never realize that Curt Cobain has 0 talent compared to Geoff Tate.

  • It would only let me give you one thumbs up on your comment! You are 100% correct. These guys can flat out play.

  • My god, his hair is so shiny.

  • Geoff is first class all the way !

  • Della Brown was a real person, she was my neighbor and she was murdered. I tried to help her, but she shyed away. Her murderer has not been caught because he cut off his own hand.

  • Interesting and sad.

  • Truly sad, yet beautiful. Della Brown is a real person that use to live in the streets of Seattle, WA. I think she has passed on, though. One of the most tasty tunes I can think of.... Great vocals in this version and instruments as well.

  • holy shit that was awesome!!!

  • great moment when geoff first then chris smiling at michael while he's picking away at 5:20 to 5:24.

  • Agree with you there!

It really looks like the guys are having a good time.

  • I know isn't that sweet. and you can't tell on this but chris didn't just smile, he winked at michael

  • yeah i know, love when he does that. Its on building Empires right?

  • yep! I love that movie.

  • just perfect

  • This is some stupid little punk kid using a bunch of different names. I have seen it all over the place. This account is deleted. I do feel kinda sorry for him though... the music today is not near as good as it used to be.

  • Great tune, good band man..

  • So beautiful, eloquent and sad

  • lovin this video!! leave me a comment

i cant watch this video FU

  • I NEED SOMEONE TO TALK TO

want to chat with singles iH

  • I Like The Drums.

  • Seattle can inspire anyone. A great city ouzing with talent and opportunity, even Della Brown found her nitch in life, e.g. To become famous again via Queensryche/Geof Tate. I have lived here for most of my life and have not regretted a moment.

    Peace

  • Right on! Greetings from Puyallup

  • If you like this song, check out No Sense by Candlebox. Another transcendental, bluesy song that is just about as good as they get (like Della Brown). Not advertising No Sense, just spreading the word.

  • why is it that there are no accurate guitar tabs for della brown out there? it is a really great song...

anyone have a link to one?

  • Hey, how long have you been playin'? Seriously. Accurate Tabs would be great for a song like Della Brown, but I strongly encourage you to figure it out yourself, by ear. The rythm part is vey simple and the leads are not that blistering either, just a ton of feeling and emotion poured into the music by some of the best in Seattle. Suggestion: teach yourself the entire Empire CD by using your ear. If you get stuck ask another guitarist for help.

Guitar players break more G strings

  • i just cant figure this out..

seems i have defective ears ..he he..

a little help would be appreciated..

  • The MTV unplugged (1992) tracks are:

Anbody Listening, I Will Remember, The Killing Words, Della Brown, Silent Lucidity, Scarborough Fair, and the Lady Wore Black.

  • and they did a cover of Rockin' in The Free World

  • Yay! 5 stars!!!

  • does anyone know the full track list that they played this magical night.Queensryche trully at their best no one did the unplugged sets any better

  • I remember when this album came out, i was disappointed a little bit.I was a big Queensryche fan (not many people knew the band in Hungary), and i was waiting for something different.

Later i understood, that the level of "Operation" was incredebly high , something like Pink Floyd's "The Wall", unrepeatable.

  • Oh, I saw Christ live too and didnt even know it at the time. Chris was in Jerry Cantrells touring band in the fall of 2002. I saw them at Slims in San Francisco, it was one of the best shows Ive ever seen. Queensryche was a favorite of alice in chains. Layne used to wear a queensryche shirt. Cool! Long live both those bands!

  • This song is soooo beautiful. When I see any homeless females I always think of this song. This has to be one of the most solemn songs on the whole album. Empire is such a great album. Definatley a partial concept album! The whole album is great, every song, every measure.

  • Yeah! I dont think there was a "theme" on Empire. That was the point. Just a Bunch of great songs!! ALL OF THEM!!!

  • Fuck are you talkin' about? Hand on Heart and One and Only are two amazing songs. QUEENSRYCHE IS THE BEST FUCKIN BAND EVER MADE! Don't forget, Tate is the best singer ever on this planet.

  • Queensryche son los mejores... larga vida al rock.

  • Della Brown was always one of my favorite songs on the Empire album. This version is very good but so is the original. I also love "Is There Anybody Listening" from Empire. If you don't know it check it out.

  • *Someone else is right u there too, Promised Land wasn't it?" I lost all my Music first in a Computer crash and later in a fire.... *sighs* Miss em so much!

  • a hauntingly beautiful song...

  • tate and degarmo great team of talent.....

  • i didnt care too much when it first came out...but this version is so much better!!!!!!

  • Magnifique !

  • Guess it is possible to make a great song even better... How did I miss this years ago?

  • Simply incredible.

  • dude

was this made into a CD? this is better than the straight version

    Queensryche kicks ass

  • STATION.

  • Sweet,sweet guitar..gotta love 'em.

Soulful, precise..just what I want for a Friday night. Enjoy , People. Bands like this don't come along very often. Listen up you 20 somethings... This IS Music at one of its finest..

  • One of the finest bands that ever existed

  • Been a fan since their debut...

  • Wonderful version of this song...

  • hey that was awesome. this vid illustrates how music is more than just technical skill with an instrument. they know how to capture the sounds just right. that why queensryche got me into metal eventually in the first place.

  • my son sent this song for a homework assignment for a ballad. it was his idea since he listens to queensryche

  • Hea!! Are you nutts??? This song is to deep for your little mind!!!

  • Queensryche isn't all about their heavy stuff. If you truly like band, you like all their songs.

  • Not necessarily true. That may be a requirement of being a 'fan' or (less flatteringly) a 'fanboy' but even Pink Floyd has some tracks from their early (and even late) period that are just terrible, nearly unlistenable dreck - and the members of Floyd have even said so themselves.

  • There are other boring songs on the Empire CD like "Hand on Heart" and "One and Only", which simply don't fit into the predominantly haunting theme of the CD, IMO.

  • Love this video - brings back memories. I still remember when their original EP came out when I was a freshman in college. Still love the ryche!

  • Fucken kick ass!!!!!!

  • Yes you can I found one at movie trading company.

  • This is so awesome! Does anyone know if you can get this on a DVD?

  • Looking on Amazon and MTV or VH1 sites. MIGHT find a back copy.

  • Well as far as I know the whole unplugged concert is not available. However Some of it is on a DVD including this song. The DVD is QUEENSRYCHE: BUILDING EMPIRES it also includes accoustic versions of THE KILLING WORDS, I WILL REMEMBER and that is all I can recall off the top of my head at this point

  • I believe the rerelease of Hear in the Now Frontier has 3 or 4 of the unplugged songs.

  • yes is available on the BUILDING EMPIRES DVD... you can buy it

  • ♫ QUEENSRYCHE ♫

    ♫♫♫♫ WICK'D ♫♫♫♫

    ♫♫"FAN"TASTIC"♫♫

    Thnkx 4Sharn'

    ~XoX~

  • This song is so awesome. I love Geoff's voice, it's so damn powerful. Too bad Chris isn't in the band anymore, because he was important for the band. HAIL QUEENSRYCHE!

  • You got it! Not the same, just like journey.. Lose the voice lose the band and it's idenity

  • good music by the best voice of today's hard rock.
