Keltner speaks indeed, and as my gran would say 'Doesn't he have a lovely speaking voice?' I know folks, I looked at her strange too. I digress. I love Jim Keltner and Ry Cooder is my hero!
"How could anybody be doing that? How COULD they be doing that?" And that was Jim Keltner knocking, one of the greatest drummers alive. Really, how bad could it have been? I would have to award Ry the "Douchebag of the Band" trophy. Wow.
i'm pretty sure he's joking around... they all are actually, i think that's the point of the clip. ry's a good guy. he and jim have worked together for 30 years, i doubt they would have if ry was really like that :)
You're PRETTY sure he's joking around and I'm pretty sure he's HALF joking around. Clearly Jim has an excellent sense of humor, as I suspect they all must, but that moment of Ry having a conniption is fairly convincing- he is not very happy right there and they caught it on film.
The truth is all these guys are highly regarded pros and are all used to having things their way. Jim as a drummer is a natural mediator and deals with temperamental personalities with a dark sense of humor. That's why he's able to work with short-tempered people for thirty years. That's my take anyway. Hey, even good guys can turn into dicks for a few seconds here and there.
Amazing. I've been a Jim Keltner fan all my life and I've never heard him say a single word. Good luck finding an interview with him in a drum magazine. This is excellent.
Thanks for the tip Sarge! Not surprisingly I have a copy right here. I haven't watched the extras yet. Have you seen the Dick Cavett episode with George? It's absolutely amazing, as is the Lennon interview, and the Paul Simon for that matter.
awesome. of course you can always youtube the harrison/cavett thing. he's another guy that i've idolized all my life and it's amazing just to hear him have a casual conversation for a hour. lennon is a little more nervous and chain-smoking the whole time but very entertaining.
Hilarious. :) "only people I'm nasty to are my wife.... my kids... " classic.

Jim is a class act.
He was a great friend to Delaney Bramlett and visited him in the hospital like a good friend would.
Thanks Jim!
