@frostymourne @ArmoredIsamu @GunplaProductions I really don't get where the "gritty realism" in this series is.You've got parachuting giant robots, giant robots sneaking around in a jungle, generic shounen archetypes, and the only character who ever dies is the main bad guy, who's character is written as almost completely pure evil. And what happens to to the good guys? One gets hospitalized for a while and later everybody gets separated a few month. Oh darn. So hardcore.

Totally agree. In like every other series, it's like one Gundam can take out like an entire army of mobile suits. (Looking at you Wing Zero and Heero Yuy! >:/) Here and even in the other UC Gundam animes (i.e. MSG, 0080, 0083) an enemy mobile suit like a Dom, Gouf, or Zaku can go toe-to-toe with a Gundam for a good amount of time.

@zero312 Eeeh, remember the "gundams" in 08th was just made up of rejected parts for THE Gundam. Also... the Wing suits were supposed to be able to waste whole legions of suits. They were supposed to be designed/better... and now that I think of it, that's the cancer than caused SEED.

@YamashitaTsubasa the question i have is who cares? this Gundam series is awesome, it still feels like Gundam gone Vietnam. plus 12 episodes is perfect compared to the 25-79-100+ episodes on the other series. your right on one part, the 08th does have its flaws but not as much compared to the other Gundam series out there... Thus the 08th MS Team is a Gem of its age. The R&J story does get a little cheesy at times, but its pretty good

As far as Gundam OVAs (because remember, 08th Team didn't air on Tv, it was a video release over a period of years) go, its still worse than Unicorn and 0080, which puts it in the sterling companionship of Stardust Memory and Endless Waltz (this is sarcasm).

I love this so much mainly because it reminds us that the One Year War wasn't fought solely between mobile suits (and related equipment)... There were still foot soldiers involved (facing off with 18 meter war mechs!)

This is my favorite Gundam series. This is how war must be feeling like. Dirty, gritty and real, even though it has giant mecha in it. Not shiny and unbelievably fast like some other Gundam series.

Agree. When I was watching the few first episodes I was astonished by the realism. But then, they had to make it turn worse by love story and peace talk shit... It is only gundam series that don't make war look ridiculous. Seriously, for example 1 kira or shin or setsuna or heroo= whole armada. And it doesn't matter if fleet can put so much covering fire that even fly wouldn't stay alive. The main hero will go into Super mode (DAIMOS!!!) and kill all enemys.

@warhawk9566 the only thing that put 00 in tune with some of the other UC series is that the gundam in 00 all had the same traits but some jus had different parameters dynames was meant for long range combat and could switch to close range but the pilot felt ok with long range combat seravee was the same thing but it just completely excelled in long range combat it just had next to no close range combat the gundam from that series each had good and bad points in which they excelled in

Your question is unclear. The Gundam used in this OVA is a mass produced land version of the Gundam prototype used by Amuro. Each mobile companies uses several of the Gundam land version along with a scout tank. This OVA tries to explore the realistic nature of ground battle.

@warhawk9566 For this particular series all the Gundam has simiilar design, and similar capabilities, unlike in the SEED, and Wing where each Gundam has unique ability. I have mentioned on my replies that this is a mass produced version of Gundam specialized in ground battle only and not capable of space battle. The Gundam land version can carries different types of weapon depending on the circumstances of the ground battle.

I love 08th MS Team. It is realistic in terms of that mobile suits are treated as part of the army like support/armor/artillery, rather than the army itself. There is still infantry, tanks, air support etc. This is what a future war would be like if mobile suits are involved.
