I was a PFC in Saudi when the crap came down over there, and have the upmost respect for all American soldiers, no matter time and place. I hate when people talk down or bad about our soldiers who are going where theyre told and doing what has to be done. So even if you don't support your gov'ts decisions, get behind your troops, because if they had a choice, some of them would love to be able to go to bed with their wives and tuck their lil ones into bed at night. Remember the fallen.
My grandfather one one of these people that B&R are talking about and at his graduation from an achoolholism class i sang this song. Every person in the room was crying when i was done. What made it even more special every single person in that room was a vietnam vet. I find it very sad that nowadays the veterans get welcomed home what did the people coming home from vietnam get nothin at all. I cant stand it when people make fun of songs that mean this much to the country of USA.
good song but I would like to hear something about the Battle of Angel's Wing on the night of March 8 into March 9th many men didnt come back from that small battle my dad was one of the lucky few to survive that horrible day he was blew up by na-pom
@ForeverEnbound I can't sing lol or write very well...I only know bits about what happened there...my dad was there not me and I know how it affects him on a daily basis I have done some things to make that day known (like a remembrance tattoo)
I'm 60 years old, so I remember this time very well. For all you young people with your crap comments, you have no idea about anything! It's about COMMUNISM! It's not about oil, or the military complex, or any of that other vomit you people spew. I grew up under the communist threat and the murder and misery they put the world through. They needed killing then and I will kill them today. These soldiers were hero's then and the soldiers today are hero's that keep you safe so you can be an idiot.
@chuckles1954 You can see your idiocy right now on the streets of Oakland, NYC, or DC. The Cong shit in their hooches. just as you shit in your tents today. Communism is a disease, and a .308 is the cure. I'm sick of arguing with rockheads that don't know who daddy is. I'm just telling you to search yourselves as deep as you can because the US isn't for sale. You can't have it. There is an army just like me that says you can go to hell if you don't like America. Come 2012, we will take it back.
@chuckles1954 Amen, my dad has been teaching me a lot about this time lately, and it was just such a bad time in American history. God bless all of our Soldiers back then and now
@chuckles1954 Amen, I am a product of the 60's. I remember sitting watching the planes land and the soldiers coming home. Everyone watching for that familiar face that they love unconditionally.
"Left South Dakota to fight for the red, white, and blue." Full stop. Already this song is not about the Vietnam war.
Support our troops. Don't pretend that shit wars like Vietnam and Iraq are about protecting us. It's all about funding the military industrial complex. You don't protect the USA by sending soldiers to die in far away lands.

I'm an Aussie who was in the Army in 1970, not a conscript but a signed up regular, if not for the service personel from all countries, conscripts or regs who fought and are still to this day fighting to keep freedom for our way of life, we would be severely fucked, I totally agree with muaythaiassassin
Everytime I see someone wearing a "Vietnam Veteran" hat or vest, I make it a point to walk over, shake their hand and thank them, letting them know my children will never forget their service and sacrifice of them and the ones we left behind. Proud to be a God fearing American who will never forget.
My dad got deployed the day before I was born. I haven't seen him since I was 7 years old. He was KIA. I am now 19 and recently enlisted in the Army in my father's remembrance. You are truly missed dad! RIP Tony!
Amazing song. I am taking my military friend to the Big and Rich and Gretchen Wilson concert and I am paying for it. THANKS TO ALL OF OUR TROOPS FOR FIGHTING FOR MY RIGHT TO POST THIS!!!!!!
it's never easy to know that hundreds, and thousands of people have given their lives in this war, and the wars that have happened since.... it is never going to get easier and we owe all of this freedom that we have the right to share, to those soldier who will and will not be returning to their families. P.O.W M.I.A gone but never forgotten.

this song reminds me of my dad..he went to vietnam and he died on july 6th 2009 b4 his 62 b-day and a couple months b4 my 12th b-day..im 13 and miss my dad..i love u daddy
I was 24 dating an "older"guy he was 39 ,he was this incredible John Wayne type & a vietnam vet.. He was incredible, a take charge man's man type. I understood the vietman war but was too young to understand the protesters at the airports calling the returning soldiers "baby killers" and spitting on them. In the end he broke it off because I hasn't experienced life to really understand but he loved me for trying. He died 5 yrs ago @ 56, he was right I needed to marry younger my hubby is 45
I respect anyone who has served our country. and i thank those who laid down there lives for me. I am only 14 but plan on joining the army, if i do i would be 4th generation military. Thanks to all those who protected my rights, and defended our country. and anyone who doesnt support our troops, doesnt deserve the rights that our soldiers are dying to protect. GOD BLESS AMERICA!!
No man deserves to go through the hell of the jungle that those soldiers did, but they did, because they knew they had to. A lot of Americans want to forget Vietnam, but we have to remember. We can never forget, for their sacrifice for the freedom of all people certainly deserves remembrance.
@bzoner16 Time to build a wall for the M.I.A. There is nothing buy a few flags around for them. They deserve more. From an old Navy vet, thank you for your service.
@mysticglen You are very welcome my friend. It was an honor to have served in the Navy. I got to go around the world twice and saw places I would have never had the chance to see if I had not joined.
Great song. Least that could be done for heroes... if anyone is interest.. Redgum - I was only 19 ... Is a good aussie vietnam song, a guy wrote it from his brother in-laws experience... I really wish there was more aussie artists like this
this song is the reason im goin into the Marines. knowing that those men put everything on the line to fight for others is an inspiration. If they can give it their all so can I. (R.I.P to the fallen-never forgotten by true Americans)
my daddy did some time over there we drnk together one time and i told him i was thinkin about joing the army (which i did to follow in his foot steps) but he started cryin after about the 5th word out of his mouth... the only time i ever heard him say anything about it before he passed:( i miss u daddy R.I.P
You know what is sad is that on Facebook there was a cry out for November the 5th for a movie for the British, remember remember the 5th of November, yet the Americans don't remember, remember the 8th of November. Remember, remember the 8th of November, the day that the soldiers cried.
these were the days when soldiers were really soldiers, not just punk kids looking for an easy way out in life. they had no choice. these are real american heros
@smokinggun1987 you kno im not gonna disagree with you because most of the ppl in the military nowa days are looking for an easy way out of something but i kno some good men and women who are in the armed services who have the easiest life everything handed to them on a silver platter and they still joined because they wanted to protect the americans way of life (hince y me, my husband and lot of my battle buddies joined.) shit me myself i had an easy job makein 12 dollars an hour doin nothin
@countrygrl231 Just so you are aware I am also in the Armed services, (Army, 68w, Fort Sam.) my opinion was merely based towards the majority of young immature, and immoral people I serve with
There is nothing greater, no greater honor, than to give everything you are for protecting that which you believe in and those you love. The men and women of the armed forces deserve all the respect in the world as they give their all, everything that they are in their service to their country and their people. They made that sacrifice so that others don't have to, all gave some and some gave all so that we may live as we do, so that our loved ones remain safe. They sacrifice for us. Heroes truly
this is one of the most inspiring songs ive ever heard, im joining the marines after college if i ever find out who disliked this video i will personally fucking murder them...
Dixie Chicks are a disgrace to this country after whats her name said that remark about President Bush. Thats another reason why they failed in their career because the dumb chick couldnt keep her mouth shut. But travelin soldier is a good song.
Are you people seriously trying to argue that a single American freedom was preserved by destroying Indochina? Now don't try to pigeonhole me as some lazy cowardly liberal, I am from Ulster where my family defended has itself from Marxist and Nationalist Republicanism for over a century now, but I now live in NorCal and know a little about about American history. Any man can learn to shoot a gun and proudly wave a flag but almost everyday I watched my aunt take care of her son who lost
half his head fighting in Basra for America's right to Arab oil, I watched her help him chew his food and wipe his ass, and even though she was an arrogant atheist and a hippie, she is also the bravest person I know, so don't go around thinkin' you're a fuckin man cause you shoot a gun and put an old glory sticker on your truck, the true heroes are those who preserve and help to dignify life itself, whether it be the life of a veteran, a muslim, or an unborn child.
@flowerdipshit FUCK YOU!!! AND ALL OF YOUR TALIBAN TOWEL WEARING COUSINS, YOU LEFT WING PIECE OF SHIT!!!! YOU PROBABLY VOTED FOR OBAMA DIDN'T YOU!?! MOMMAS BOYS LIKE YOU SHOULD HAVE TO EARN THE RIGHT TO SAY THINGS LIKE THAT!!!!! TO BAD YOU DON'T HAVE THE BALLS TO DO IT THERE LITTLE BOY!!! UNLIKE THE MEN THAT DIED DEFENDING YOUR RIGHT TO SPEAK FREELY!!!! YOU FUCKING SHALLOW LITTLE WORM!!!
@ FlowerPerplex........I bet alot of them served and fought for your right to post such a BULLSHIT comment. You are so DISRESPECTFUL. My uncle was Killed in this battle!!!
@FlowerPerplex how bout u learn the first thing about respect THEY DIED FOR UR SPOILED ASS TO BE ABLE TO SLEEP AT NIGHT WHIT OUT WORRY SHUT THE FUCK UP AND SHOW SOME RESPECT FOR THEM
@FlowerPerplex your an ungreatful prick the only reason you have the right to say your opinion is the brave men and woman who give their lives fighting for our country and our precious freedoms that most people take for granted, your to big of a pussy to fight and stand up for our rights and our country so you should even be given the opportunity to live in a county as great as America. Thank you to all who served or are severing pass, present, and future. we would be nothing without you.
@FlowerPerplex the only part you got right was the flag-waving, and we fly the stars and stripes. and if you see someone flying the stars-and-bars they're flying it for family heritage because they probably had a relative fight in the civil war.
I served with Kelly E. Whitaker (@1:10) in the 101st Airborne (3/187th). We became best friends before he left for Vietnam. I found out about his death just days before I left for Vietnam in December 1965. SFC Brayboy was my platoon sergeant in the 101st and I only found out that he died 8 November 1965 earlier this year. RIP and God Bless You!
Respect it. The flag, the Nation, and those who died to uphold the rights that are abused every day by those that are so "common" that they speak out against our military, while being to cowardly and weak of individual spirit to risk their selves for those things that they take for granted.
God bless the 173rd Airborne, the boys who fought and died on both sides, their families, and America. Vietnam veterans: you are not forgotten. Thank you for everything.
My name is Alvino Robles Valentine Marquez was my uncle but also my big brother whom I miss very much all these brave men that gave their lives for our freedom deserve the national medal of honor for what they did on November 8th 1965 my contact info is 719-240-0021, my address is 45 bridle Trail Pueblo Colorado 81005 love and missing my uncle/brother
I love this song it makes me cry. I send this out to all those who just joined, are fighting, who have faught, who have gave thier lives for our country. God Bless them all. Most of all my Cuzin LaTasha
Hey Chris // check this information out/////Ruppert Leon Sargent (January 6, 1938 – March 15, 1967) was a United States Army officer and a recipient of America's highest military decoration—the Medal of Honor—for his actions in the Vietnam War.
Not untill you have been there to see, hear ,feel, smell and hell taste the air will any one understand... and for the ones that have... God bless and thank you,

You know what is sad is that on Facebook there was a cry out for November the 5th for a movie for the British, remember remember the 5th of November, yet the Americans don't remember, remember the 8th of November. Remember, remember the 8th of November, the day that the soldiers cried.
kitiaralilable 1 year ago 6
these were the days when soldiers were really soldiers, not just punk kids looking for an easy way out in life. they had no choice. these are real american heros
smokinggun1987 1 year ago
