I remembered this sketch from when I was a kid growing up was laughing so damned hard my mother had to actually slap me hard to get me to stop laughing i was turning beet red and in turn it would make my parents laugh more. NOTHING will ever come close as being funny as the carol burnett show NOTHING
Live TV was dependent upon teamwork. As Noren1260 said, too many egos. Many performers these days want any mistakes edited out before it goes to air. Carol Burnett and Co. didn't care. They were there to entertain.
I wonder if Carol realized that she was taking her life into her hands when she decided to take a drink - no telling what Tim could have said about then which could have made her choke on her drink!
OMG! This is THE best show out there. My chest hurts from laughing so much. You gotta love how Vicki, Carol, & Dick Van Dyke were trying to keep theor composure, but Tim just kept going. Carol once said that getting Tim Conway to join the show was the biggest mistake of their career as they had no idea what was going to come out of his mouth next. The reason for two differnt skits is that they had two different shows, one in the morning & one at night. Tim changed it everytime! Never gets old.
@moonbeammovies Strange, isn't it, everyone talks about how funny Conway was in this sketch, yet it's Vicki who comes through with the topper of the century and she never really got credit for it.
@leendertale ive seen this skit over and over and i stll have no idea what Vicki said. All i heard was something about an asshole. Do u know what she said?
One of the top 5 funniest moments in TV in my opinion. This and the clip with Conway as the dentist and Korman as the patient are right up there in the running for number 1!
This is the very definition of GREAT comedy. Fall-over laughing with no profane or vulgar references (yes I know she said asshole but that's pretty tame) I can watch this all day and not get tired of it
The best way to take away ya attention in the waiting room ... after this story anyone would be glad to jump-up and head to the dentist room...fabulous ...hahaha
It's worth noting that Dick Van Dyke took the place of Harvey Korman for this and several episodes, since Mr. Korman was recovering from open heart surgery at that time. I just LOVE the way Vicki Lawrence brought the house down with her pithy rejoinder! Good as Mr. Conway was, in this case, she shot him down in flames!
I actually saw this when it was first broadcast, and it's just as hilarious now as then.

What I always loved about this show was how they honored each other. There are too many egos now to allow something like this to happen

I love how Tim Conway took the whole video and made everyone laugh, and then it only took Vicki Lawrence one line and everyone just lost it!
