@mikatheactress18 The shut-down wasn't until a bit later. What happened was that there was a bidding war between the two networks with 20th Century Fox Television. UPN eventually outbid The WB for both Buffy and Roswell, so that's where they went. I remember, at that point in time, UPN was doing better than WB. They also had WWE Smackdown, which drew in a lot of viewers and advertisement for the network.
the show was darker on upn due to the fact that buffy was darker. she wasn't her usual perky self...because she died! so, personally i think the move to the upn was best because the season 7 ending was better than season 5.
what is all this talk about a "move"? the WB cancelled buffy. they didn't have a choice. it was either continue on upn or end the show. I loved season 6, but 7 was my least favorite of them all. the show was definitely darker when it was on upn.
Disagree. The characters in last two seasons of Buffy were not recognizable as the ones from the first five. The show had always had a great balance between joy and sorrow, and in the last two seasons there wasn't enough joy. Not to mention the plots made no sense, and they let Spike take over the show to the point where he saved the world in the end instead of Buffy.
Why did Buffy moved to UPN? It's one of the WB hilarious vampire slaying comedies, you know.

Whoever thinks seasons 6 and 7 were bad, must be insane.
Season 6 is one of my favorite seasons and season 7 was just amazing.

ppl keep saying that they should hv stayed on the wb and that it was cancelled. THE WB NETWORK WAS SHUT DOWN! they had to move to a new network.

As far as I know they just canceled it, they prefered Angel (cause it stayed on the WB)
