@RebelWrestler45 That was spoken like someone who looked up basic knowledge and tried to apply it. Watch the video and they TELL YOU how they get around EVERYTHING you just said was wrong. Idiot.
I find this to be a very good product. I purchased my first set in 1973. It may be expensive but you get what you pay for. I am currently still using my set from over 30 years ago.
@thechichas1 Cutco's quality is about as competitive in the kitchen cutlery market, as your English is in an Ivy League college application pool. They use mediocre steel, cheap handle material, and very cheap grinding and finishing processes. They are good value knives, and are competitive with Henckels and Wusthof (in my experience they are easier to sharpen, hold a finer edge, but are a bit less durable). However, "Cutco" should not be said in the same sentence with the likes of Shun.
@JoanIsNotTheMaid According to what tests? Cutco is certainly not cheap, their prices are outrageous; its the materials, grinding and finishing processes that Cutco uses whcih are cheap. 440A is the cheapest stainless steel, with the worst edge retention of any non generic steel, save non high carbon 420 stainless. Cutco stamps their blades, instead of forging. A hollow grind should never be used on a kitchen knife, Cutco hollow grinds their knives because its cheap.
@southsidesoxsidefan That just substantiates your ignorance; Cutco management doesn't know a thing about bladecraft or metallurgy, much less their sales reps. With the exception of 420 series, 440A is the absolute cheapest and lowest quality American stainless on the market. At Cutco's prices, I need to see at least 440C and a full flat grind. 440A has horrible wear resistance, which translates to dismally poor edge retention.
@southsidesoxsidefan WOW! How do you know that much about 440A steel? How do you know that 440C is much better than 440A? Answer these questions before you go and accuse others of being ignorant.
I remember watching this on tv, I live 20 minutes away from Olean and my mom works at the vector customer support office in Olean. Cutco is amazing in their quality and beautiful products.
Y'know what? This is a great product. I sold some. I would have sold a lot more if I busted my butt more and was a better salesman. But the product itself - worth every penny, dude. Every penny.
@RebelWrestler45 They do take advantage of people in their marketing department. However their products are very well made.

@RebelWrestler45 440A is the highest grade of stainless steel available for use in kitchen cutlery. I should know this since I'm a sales rep myself.
