@cuzidontcare you have to remove any big fish in the tank or they will all get eaten. Normally you would have the preg guppy in a seperate tank when shes near having her babies then take her out which is what i did. Or you can use a birthing net/seperater that just sits in the corner of a tank and the babies fall thru the bottom part so they are safe.
Cool video I've been trying to find out info on guppies cuz I've been greasing them I have about 15 right now and 4 of my adults are pregnant so this is a cool video
@canlovesham It was my first time owning guppies i had never bred fish before and between them and the danios i had a ton of babies. But i put the female guppies in a seperate tank 2 gallon and they had their babies and i removed the mother after they were all born. I had about 100 guppy fry. I dont have fish anymore now though.
awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww +-+ i want to breed fish too!
i took a quiz on a website and according to my wants, the top fish were Bettas, Danios, Gouramies, Barbs Books, bargains, Tetras, Books, , Killifish, Books, Mollies, Guppies, Platies, Swordtails
which ones should i buy? and when i do, should i just buy 1 female and 1 male, or like a couple of each? i'd apreciate an answer :) thanks
@rafa3lico Well its really all about what you want and your preferences. For starters what size tank do you plan on using? You have to consider tank size in order to start your tank. When you set up your tank it has to run for about a month to cycle before adding any fish. As far as what fish most fish you have listed are community fish so you need at least 6-8 fish to start. Gouramis tend to get on the large size but danios breed like CRAZY! When you start noticing lil black spots under the..
@MamaTasha09 sorry, i didn't notice this part of the comment... my tank is 41, by, 27 by 20, this is centimeters so if you don't live in europe check a converter out to have an idea of how much that is... what do you mean that i have to run for about a month? is it because of the filter? i never heard of that... and could i get like 4 danios and 4 cuppies? do you think they'd mate? and how many females and mates should i get of each?
@rafa3lico sry i have been been busy working very long hrs so i have not been on here much. Your are suppose to run your tank for about a month 6-8weeks with the filter yes you do this so the tank can filter itself and grow the good bacteria that fish need to live off of. Otherwise your fish would all die. As far as the fish go i would say at least 6 danios and with guppies you need 1 male per 3 female otherwise the males will kill the females from overbreeding. So 1 male guppy and 3 female or
@rafa3lico Im just explaining to you how guppies are if you get 3 female guppies only get 1 male. Female danios are hard to sex so the more you have in a group the better chances of having babies which is why i recommand at least 6 danios but if you only want 4 then get 4. Again there community fish they like to be in groups of at least 6-8 but if you only want 4 of each go for it.
@rafa3lico that would be fine make sure you tell the person at the fish place you want 2 male guppies and 4 females. Females are less colorful have a rounder tail and mails are smaller and are very colorful some with longer tail fins. Or if you wanted to get 8 guppies id say 3 males 7 females.
@MamaTasha09 thanks for all your help tasha! i might buy them this weekend ! :) thanks for all you help and i'll give you an update when they're calmly swiming in my tank! :)
@rafa3lico gravel and they wiggle those are baby fish. Betta fish cant be together they are fighting fish. Some people have had females together but i never had luck with betta females they always fought. Guppies are another great breeding fish they have their babies within 3 weeks-4 weeks there wicked cute too. Whichever fish you decide on make sure you have alot of live plants in your tank and java moss for babies to hide in. If you have anymore questions let me know.
@rafa3lico If you were to go with getting danios, they have their babies live as do guppies, but with danios they tend to hide their babies in the gravel at the bottom of the tank so if one day you were to see these little black specs wiggling in the gravel those are the danio babies.
@Aimloan123 I was super excited at the time and i had shakey hands...you say this as if i am not going to read it....maybe next time you should not say anything at all.
i'm very interested in seeing what they look like now. you should do a update on them. i bought my female guppy when she was pregnant, and she had some fry, then about 2 weeks later she had some more, i didn't know they could have them back to back like that. so right now i have 15 guppies in my tank. it's ridiculous lol. as soon as the little ones get their colors, and when they're big enough i'm going to get rid of all the females, and keep the males that i like.
@saraxlynn Hey, I actually dont have any of my fish anymore :( We moved out of state we had a 4 day car drive and they would have never made it so i had to give them all new homes. I always had at least 3 females to 1 male though just because the males tend to mate non stop and it gives each female a break from him being so crazy. I had a TON of fry i mean im talking 100's of fry. Its a great hobby i miss it for sure. Good luck with your fry let me know how it works out for you:)
@TonyYaajETC I have roughly maybe 40 right now and a few danios mixed in the group. Unforunitly, 2 of the females died and my male died and i can not figure out why. Im assuming maybe the birth killed them or the male just irritated them so much it stressed them out. But im keeping like 8 females and 2-4 males from the babies. Im waiting until they are big enough and im excited to see what colors they turn out to be.
My guppy gave birth friday night

@rafa3lico 1 male to 4 female never get more males than females they will just kill them from overbreeding. Hope this helps.

@MamaTasha09 thanks, but i only wanted 4 of each kind, so i should get 1 male guppy and 1 male danios, and 3 female guppy and 3 female danios?
