I just love this. It's so much fun how much diversity and range of possibilities there are in polytheistic faiths. Japanese, Chines, Indian and even Greek and Roman pantheons interest me. I find the religion of most monotheistic faiths to be sterile and colorless compared to faiths of the east. I walk down the streets of my cities and all the churches are closed, only open for an hour a week, and then, inside, often nothing on the altar, maybe a cross, maybe not even that, kind of empty.
Hello allgoo19, She may have been asking Emily what I was saying, though I suspect that Emily would be a bit shy to answer as she was (and is) rather shy about having people know she can understand English. -Kurt :-)
This is so sweet! When I lived in Japan, I saw many children playing in shrines as you described. Such lovely memories...Someday I hope to settle in Japan to have children. The children I met there seem to have so much respect for the people and things around them. It's truly a beautiful thing!
For some reason or another, this brought a tear to my eye.
It really annoys me when I realize how ignorant I am to so many things. This religion is just one of the many things I know hardly anything about. It's nice to learn a little tid-bit about it, but it also further cements the fact that I'm still a stupid kid. Hah. Oh well. Life is learning, learning is life. Damn, though, I do love to learn about religions. And my chinese pug is actually named Shinto,
I know just how you feel. It's wonderful and humbling to see just how diverse and interesting the various cultures of the world are. Thank you for watching and commenting! -Kurt
