  • this man trained me for about a year, he is the real deal and has done me mnay favors in my life he is no fake.

  • CHE!! CHE!! CHE!! AAAH CHAAAA!!

    I know hapikido!

  • Crazy Masters....^_^

  • Looks like an audition tape for a movie. Blah

  • hapki do,hmmm~~~~~~~

  • too many comments on almost many of the martial arts out there. Most of us are brain washed by UFC MMA application. Martial art again is for self-defense. The average person out there are you people. If you think you're strength and conditioning is average than there are some one out there probably even less with no training. So take some of this for thought, most thugs aren't trained and that's what we take MA for is for pure self-defense. If you wanna fight take up MMA that's all.

  • Its like 'power aikido'!!! I love it, looks very very very effective and dangerous, or rather, debilitating if applied! and props to the dummies, if they don't know what they are doing they could seriously be hurt, and i meen seriously! they are just as amazing as the featured technician!

  • man.. I wish i could open coconuts like that!

  • @ImIwilliamImI you'd be a hit at parties where they make pina coladas from scratch!

  • @shadec

    Haha, imagine

  • @jabxhook

What in the real world you fight fresh air is it. Its not gonna be much good if he did these techniques on his own man.

  • @jabxhook: HKD doesn't work in the real world? Wanna bet? Steve Sexton, the real-life subject of that ridiculous Patrick Swayze movie from the 1980s, is an 8th dan in Hapkido, and also a seasoned security professional with hundreds of hand-to-hand fights to his credit, some against multiple attackers with weapons.

John Pellegrini's Combat hapkido is the hand-to-hand system of choice for militaries, law enforcement and security pros all over the world, including our own spec ops people.

  • @jabxhook: Part 2 of my previous message. The "targets" or assailants in martial arts demos have to be trained how to fall and be thrown properly, which accounts for the students or assistants; otherwise they would suffer severe injury when the techniques are done to them. Being an "uke" - the guy having the techniques done to you, is in many ways harder than being the guy doing them. Believe me, it is painful, even you are experienced and in shape. The techniques work, believe me.

  • Now that's not saying that everytime these techniques will work flawlessly. Master Garland has trained for a very long time to get to the skill he is at right now. Hopefully one day I will be able to have a fraction of the ability he has. But the biggest thing with martial arts is humility and control. Granted yes I state I use some of the locks in a real life scenario working the bar...and yes they do work...but I've also had them not work because of limitations placed on me.

  • so that being said I've gotten humbled on some odd nights cause I don't see that '3rd guy'. Bottom line, if you think it's fake and call bullshit on it. Why not go check out a Hap Ki Do dojang and simply ask to sit in on a class. The dojang I train at always has it's doors open to people interested in seeing what it has to offer. Any martial art, if trained dedicatedly at for an extended period of time, can be very effective to the user.

  • @shadec the exact reason why some people see these videos and think we are pussies for screaming. i lol @ their faces once they get some of these locks applied to them.

  • @shadec people don't get that these videos are usually of demonstration trainin exercises that simultaneously depict throwing and being thrown ~the real life execution may appear quite differently ;training is a funny animal and only people who have trained decent hapkido really know what they're lookin at

  • Contrary to alot of the comments I've seen posted here I am not going to comment to pick a fight about any of this. As many before me have posted this is merely a demonstration of the fluidity of the locks, take down counters and striking abilities of the art. I've been training Hap Ki Do for 2 years now and I can confidently say that certain locks and holds will work if executed properly. I bounce at a bar and lemme tell you the '3rd guy' definitely thinks twice after you put down his buddy.

  • @shadec: If you bounce after only two years of HKD, you must be pretty good already. Pick up Steve "Road House" Sexton's DVDs; he is an 8th dan in the art and also a seasoned security professional with hundreds of real world encounters to his credit. The 1980s movie was based on his life, but the martial arts in that film bear very little resemblance to hapkido. Sexton is the real deal... check him out, some of his stuff is on You Tube for free.

  • I am sorry that this so easy. I do not see any attacker allowing the use of technique. It does look good for movie of action. I do not beleive that this person as a master or trained in this art for very long. No matter what people say they are, true power shows of the technique. I am dissapoint of not seeing any power. happy to see he trained in Korea, but does not make him any better. I see many come to Japan, but not improve in technique or undertanding. Will keep searching for real master.

  • That looks so awesome, I want to be able to do something like that....but there's a looong way to go until then....ugh^^

  • @TheKritty i knoe it's a late answer but also the longest way begins with a first step ;-)

  • best sweep kick i've seen

  • No, Gracie Ju Jitsu is shit.

  • My name is Benn Payne - I am the author/creator of this video. Though I did not upload it. ( to be honest I'd like the uploader to contact me - i have questions)

These techniques are VERY real and VERY painful.

I have a second degree black belt earned in front of Master Garland, Master Bernard and the founding Grandmaster Kim.

  • Very nice vid, this guys are really letal fighters ! Thanks for posting.

  • this is boring. im off

  • the other man in the video is grandmaster lee and he is amazing. Look how much harder he lands his mid level kicks with half the effort.....I have seen many demonstrations from him and he is lethal

  • just a little knowledge.....hopkido is a combination of three martial arts........jiu jitsu ........akido.......and high level tie kwan do........this man is very lethal on the ground......not saying he is the badest but he is one of the most dangerous men on the planet imo

  • Thank you.. I have the honor of training with another JJK Hapkido Master.. Unless you've had a Master of JJK Hapkido take hold of you, don't talk shit.. the smallest movement is extremely painful and will bring a big man to the feet of a small woman if performed correctly. And to ordaboy - come to my school in Corinth Texas and see if you don't crack within the first few seconds of small-joint manipulation practice (from the ground or not). Promise

  • those guys are monsters great vid 5 stars

  • and on a side note. I watched those mma fights and he isn't allowed to break bones among other things. One of the guys who works with me is mike piles father. MMa is something compeltly different. In the real world garland will break your arm in three places befor he kills you with your own arm. He was a army ranger and currently trains the navy seals and green bera in fort camble. Yeah he is a pussy all right.

  • Those of you talking crap about master garland are fooling your self. On the street in a real situation he is the most dangerous and intense person I have ever seen. He is a 6th degree grand master in a very deadly martial arts. The short time I studied under him in nashville I was in awe. The technices I learned have helped me iminsly in very inportant situations. This man is one of the badest on the plant. And grand master lee and kim are even worse. Go tell him to his face and see how it goes

  • you know how many 9th degree grandmasters who claim to have developed a "Street Lethal Technique" i have seen fall and tap like little bitches at the hands of a jiu jitsu practitioner in less than one minute...many. and you can to. search it.

  • Silly, silly Ordaboy... You said it yourself, they developed street lethal techniques. Obviously you can't use lethal techniques in the ring or a controlled fight. Hap Ki Do is best on the street where punches, locks and kicks, are for real, not for points. Besides, I've seen more white kids beaten up by blacks kids in Richmond, In. back in the day. Does that mean that blacks are better fighters?

  • Good techniques. Same stuff we teach and learn in our class.

  • I love all the "Internet mma wanabe brag-a-shit-o" on here. I think most of u need to go back to watching the UFC on spike TV. Oh... the knife fighting experts are haliarious too.

  • seriously? its a demonstration, so for those of you who say its set up - of course it is, it is an art based on breaking the weaknesses of the human body, i.e. joints etc... as far as MMA goes, no seriously efficient and/or militant martial art is allowed because of the kicks below knee level, shots to throats/groin/eye etc., therefore the effectiveness of martial arts like this one and others like Krav Maga will never shine there, they are too militant, think/research before u type stupidthings

  • Thank you! Finally someone sees MMA for what it really is! Glorified Wrestling! I have yet to see any of these MMA folks spend more than a year on any of their supposed traditional styles. The rest of the time is spent learning to ground fight, which will get you curb stomped by the other guy in a real confrontation. How do you defeat MMA? Add guy number 3.

  • yes, but statistically 95% of fights end up on the ground, so if your pretty fairy kick at :50 doesnt work against three attackers then you might wanna learn some bjj just incase. which by the way teaches all the same stuff they show here, disarming knives guns eye gouging groin grabbing etc. just not to the begginers. MMA is a sport, how do you defeat an MMA fighter? you get in the ring with him and play the game, how do you defeat a ground fighter? you grow some balls, dont rely on guy #3.

  • I'm sorry, but I'm not familiar with the "pretty fairy kick". And that's my point exactly, guy number three can't be relied on, because guy number three can't be trusted to do anything in particular. But you can bet that if guy number three decides to get involved, (even if guy number two's crotch is anatomically correct), and he is even an average fighter, you''re in for serious problems.

  • You haven't even been in a fight haven't you?

  • i been doin muay thai for about 5 years, boxing before that for a year, got my blue belt in tai kwon do and my blue belt in jiu jitsu. as far as street fights...i try to avoid em' been in a few, but nothing serious. but as far as fighting? well i got the videos, pictures, belts and whatever else you wanna see to prove it. ive taken my fare share of beating.

  • "...Every fight ends up in the ground, blah, blah, blah"I mean i respect BJJ but you know what is like to be hitted from a well executed Bandae dolryo chagi(reverse round kick) or even an uppercut in the jaw?O.K.grandmasters are human beings like everyone but a little respect wont harm you...After all there are bad fighters not bad martial arts. And these guys are awesome i think

  • 1. das sind einfache coreographien, die selbst ein weisgurt machen könnte und

    2. wird niemand im hap ki do-anzug mit ner waffe auf jmd losgehn xD aber sonst von der durchführungen der coreographien top ;D

  • The Karate kidder is the biggest joke in Nashville. This guy fights under fake names so when he loses no one will find out. MMA will be legal in Nashville soon and I'd love to see him fight someone from Nashville MMA. I'd fight him for free but he's a bit small for me. We've got a number of guys here that would beat his ass. I highly doubt the kidder will fight in his home town though...he'd be exposed even more!!!LOL Josh Schockman

  • I fucking love you schockman! this is kenny fucking classic. mma is legal lets see what he does! lol

  • why dont you go to his school and say that to his face. he takes down big fuckers too.

  • You know where he's teaching, bro. You live there. Go to his studio, and challenge him. Bring a camera. As soon as it's done, however it ends, post it up here. I'm sure more than a few would be interested in seeing it.

  • This is so fake! lol he kicks the 3rd attacker and then he jumps and holds he leg a whole second later. I was really happy to hear he got submitted at his 1 mma fight in the first round! lol douchbag!!!!

  • you really want to see something funny look up andrei stoica vs r. garland. Garland fakes getting kicked in the groin to stop the ass whooping he's getting. I watched the slow mo a hundred times, no way he caught that kick in the groin. upper thigh at best.

  • This video says, Chris Garland...not R. Garland. How do we know if it is the same Garland? lol. =S

  • loving the sweeps at 109ish given me a couple of ideas.

  • Master Chris Garland is the most intense, dangerous man I have ever met. Hapkido is the most effective and useful training that I have received period. I have studied several different martial arts since I was a child of 10 years old and I have embarrassed a few of my instructors along the way. If any wrestlers, illiterates, poor spellers or other jackasses wish to try Master Garland, I am sure I could put you in touch with him. I would feel bad about doing so... after I stop laughing.

  • Chris Garland is good but you should meet the 10th degree, Jhoon Rhee. He's great!!!! Amazing fighter, well all 10th degrees are.

  • yeah holy crap just the way he moves shows he takes his fighting seriously

  • I agree - this is a demo. But never the less- some techniques are plain wrong and dangerous. When demo is so different from real life application its bad.

  • I am sorry so say your knife work is fasle, nice floor work from the attaker but the rest is too dangerous to even commet, if you meet up with a real knife fighter, truely believe you guys will be injured severely. Should removed these scene only works in movies. May be the counter attack will not go so smoothly if the knife attaker does not leave his hand out there for half a second. I think you know what i mean.

  • when i've been doing knife techniques i some times change hands really quickly or change my line of attack ( with knife) 9/10 times knife wins, i had a go with a phillipines knife fighter using rubber knifes i tink i died 50+ times.

  • nice video

  • hapkido is very effective martial art but this crap are false techniques!! this guys are make bad publicity for hapkido

  • what is this??

    a coreography fight????

  • i am a 30 year old women, i started hapkido and i was terrified as i was there was only 2 women in the class, and i am slightly overweight, the confidence i got from this class was amazing, and great mates! Hapkido is the best martial arts so get a big one up ya! lol

  • @allblacksnumber1 its the not best but it is great, basically its aikido, jujitsu ,tae kwon do, grappling, and some wrestling

  • @allblacksnumber1: hapkido, like aikido, is a good martial art for women or anyone who wants to rely on technique instead of raw power and speed to defend themselves. HKD has these things, but they are applied scientifically, using the principles of physics, circular motion, and blending with the attack to inflict the maximum effect for the least effort and risk to yourself. But don't be afraid to get hit; fighting involves taking your lumps and the sooner you do that, the better off you'll be.

  • @allblacksnumber1: BTW, don't let being thirty bother you. I started as a forty-something and am now a deputy blackbelt. The toughest, best fighters in my club are all over 30-years of age, and a couple of them are over-forty. HKD works at any age, for any build, if you are willing to train hard and stick with it long enough. It does take years to master the art well-enough to use it effectively at all times - but that's true of any martial art. Best of luck to you and train hard.

  • i got one anwser GAY

  • Holy crap! Another fool dissing a DEMONSTRATION! What the piss is wrong with you? Just because you don't agree with the techniques doesn't mean that you have to disrespect the art. Get over yourself.

  • MTo Fodah.. soh sei fzer 6 golpes.. du q ai foram mostrados.. pq eh mto fodah.. essa maneira aew XD.. dahora!!! KI!

  • If you have actually been to martial art schools, you would know about demonstrations. They are meant to show off the techniques and stuff, this was pre planned for that, now if they were really doing it, they would be in real pain, and real danger for having messed with him. Demonstrations are found in most martial art forms. (my step bro runs a shotokan karate school.)

  • Hap Ki Do is the real deal. Just like most martial arts there are plenty of Mcdojo schools out there. If you run into someone who knows how to flow with HKD, he's going to make you feel pain in many many places you never felt before. I promise you that lol...

  • hell yeah

  • I love what happens at 00:21 - why the heck does he flip over like that when there's really nothing touching him? In Judo, we'd call that being a "good uki". Maybe he's some Sith / Jedi master who can move things with the force.

  • that's called Nak Pub, that's done to prevent your joints and bones from shattering. I promise you those guys screaming like children on the ground are not faking. Don't knock it till you've done it...

  • That fighting style is CRAP. That would never work on the streets. Once again, slowmotion student, fast motion teacher. CRAP!

PS: The screeming was faked too.

  • Its called a demonstration dumbass.

  • I don't think so; you ARE mistaken! I've been on the receiving end, and I've dished it out with lotsa energy during demos. The screams let me know it's working; and bring it on full speed ANYTIME!!

  • wtf i gona sign me up tomorow lol :)

  • Hapkido RULES!

  • he does have good spinnin heel kicks

  • who's the guy in the red trainer?

  • man thats awesome! some vicious back spinning kicks! that'll fuck ppl up so bad! korean martial art rocks!

  • RIGHT ON BRO!

  • the apple-on-the-head trick is awesome

  • great TKD video.

  • FUCK HIM MAN!

  • yeah.. but that is a jin jung kwan Dojang.. Garland was originally taught by Ji Han Jae anyway..

  • wicked spinning heel kicks

  • nearly as good as mine

  • Learn to spell and we might know what you're talking about...

  • im still not satisfd til i get d real ans just whn u browse ard i just need 2 noe how can defence ur self again, whn d attcker a muythai user each tounmnt/real video invld wit muaythai fight non of karate, kunguf or taekwondo fighter ever win agian diz art in/out or d brazilin jiujitsu so do help me wit this how can hapkido defce it self again diz famous n dangrs art when it happn 2 dhapkido user coz i luv diz art i use 2 take tawkdon n tangsoodo

  • But let's get real. If someone attacks you in the streets you don't want to grapple because you can't get away when your oponents friends arive..

  • Please to be speaking english

  • master Garland does not form any more part of the school Jin Jung kwan, it is not authorized any more with going to practise the hapkido in Korea under the direction of Grand Master LEE Chang Soo.
