Sorry I didnt see this message till now. I'm from New Zealand. We used to fly them, and as a kid i flew on one of them, they looked great in the Air NZ livery of the time.
Yeh, such a nicely proportioned looking machine, and robust, capable as well. I specially flew Biman to enjoy a DC-10 again, a class act. Not many jet airliners last this long and still are hard at work carring pax, after tens of millions of kms flying. This particular one (rego S2-ACP, City of Shah Makdom) first flew in September 1978. Douglas/McDonnell Douglas aircraft always seemed to excel in the aesthectics department, be it a DC-3, 8 or 10...and prove exceedingly durable.
Probably because it was right at maximum weight incl fuel - Bangladeshis don't travel light! Never seen so much heavy luggage. But many of them were probably going as migrant workers to England, the final destination. I doubt an airbus would have gotten off the ground at all with that payload...
@Pullisto The A330-300 can takeoff with a weight identical to that of a DC-10-40, and travel about 200nm further, and with one less engine. Really? Wouldn't be able to get off the ground?
@scaremengaviation: it consumes loads and loads less fuel for the same distance (hence the smaller fuel tank), I think it has even more cargo capacity compared to the DC-10. Currently, even though the plane is around 15 years old, the A330-300 is one of the most popular current wide bodied aircraft flying around (along with the A330-200 and B777-300)
Pullisto, what nationality are if you dont mind me asking.
iam also a fan of this beutifull aircraft.

unmistakable rattling sound of Biman Bangladesh Airlines
sulz132 3 years ago
Nothing unique to Biman planes, all aircaft rattle inside as they hit the runway.
Pullisto 3 years ago
oh believe me, biman DC-10 30 cabin rattles, because iv been on it
sulz132 3 years ago
Funny enough, so have I. I've also flown many other airlines and aircraft and heard similar rattles as well during take off rolls and landing...

hehe but sometimes its the surface of the runway that causes it :)
