  • Something like this even happened a few times on "The Price Is Right" (the short lived Doug Davidson primetime version from 1994-5).

  • I remember being told about this happening years ago. Mabel, the women who won $0 was my grandmother. Really happy to see this video again. Thanks for uploading. RIP <3

  • @LateralusDSOTM Poor lady did all that work for nothing!

  • @LateralusDSOTM Well, she is now part of gameshow history. As funny as it was a rare moment, I felt so sorry that she didn't exactly win anything in that episode.

  • ROD?! Yes, Peter? What'd she win? Bupkis!

  • No "house minimum" back then. p

  • I wonder how often this happened. It's comical and it's sad at the same time.

  • how come you become the WINNER winning $0??hahay...

  • @johnraypaig Well, you can win by being the only one still standing. She won by default, because the other 2 players were eliminated. She lost on her 2nd day! HAHAHA, Mabel won for nothing!

  • i just saw the whole episode mabel had the last 3 spins, and $0. She passed to caren with 11381. Caren hit 1500+spin, and a whammy. Then this happened. Mabel made a dumb move and got lucky!

  • STOP SAYING BIGBUCKS ALL THE FUCKING TIME GOD DAMMITTTTT!!!!!! FUCKUP FUGLY LOL

  • how did this happen? Caren must have gotten 3 whammies on the last 3 spins! How did she end up with 2 spins and $0?

  • Win Fail!!!

  • Peter: STOP AT A WHAMY! AND MEBAL! YOU ARE THE CHAMP TODAY WITH NOTH MONEY! ZERO! ZIP! MONEY!

  • Zero, Zilch, Nada. LOL

  • Things like this are why game shows now have house minimums.

Wheel of Fortune has a "house minimum" to prevent such an incident.

Jeopardy! may need to look at one to prevent one where winner gets under $2,000 when second gets $2,000 and third gets $1,000.

  • Having been a Jeopardy contestant, I can say that the value of being the champion isn't in what you win, but in getting to come back the next day and play again.

I suppose that some unlucky player could win less than the guaranteed amount for second place on one day and then lose the next day, but I think that's part of being a game show contestant.

  • Things like this are why game shows need to return to the "returning champion" concept if they aren't going to do house minimums.

It could apply to even the big money shows. If they don't win the top prize, they play the next game and defend. Million Dollar Password and Bingo America are two games where it could apply. Lingo should have done it ($400 is a slap in the face).

At least in this clip, the lady was able to return to play again. If this was "Whammy", she would leave with nada.

  • 1:23 to 1:32 is really funny!

  • It's a real testament to their hosting abilities that Peter and Rod really make these $0 wins just as entertaining as the big money ones.

  • Mabel is able to win

  • SHE GOT STOMPED!!! Love to watch this show!!!

  • Hehehe I cannot tell a lie... YOU LOSE!!

  • Win with $0 and you get to come back!

  • Well, what was more important is YOU CAME BACK!

  • I loved this show! It's the only entertaining game show that could you actually watch and have fun with someone winning $0!

  • You see, this is why Peter would always says "...but the game's not over yet." Cuz this happens!

  • Stop at a whammy and Mabel! You are the champ today with nuthin'! (???) Zero! Ought! Zip! Nothing! You get to come back! And you didn't get any money!

  • The whammy on the dollar bill is my favorite one

  • Such a charmer that Peter was to offer poor Mabel a dollar out of his own pocket!!! Oh how I miss him. You'd never meet a nicer guy.

  • Peter Tomarken was taken way before his time. Always classy and funny too.

  • ONE OF THE ALL TIME BEST

  • @da40flyer Yup... taken by a plane crash five years ago.

  • This episode was just on GSN a half hour ago!

  • She won NOTHING!

Who was the returning champ (if any?)

  • Since the other two players whammied out and Mabel didn't, she "won" with $0, and got to return for the next show.

  • caren had won the previous day, having beat bouncing brenda.

  • Then you got Rita in 1985, to win $0, Lleywellen in 1986.

  • In all scenarios, the other players whammied out,

Eric won $0 '84 Dorthy, Wayne and Joe $0 Chris Dom, Diane $0 '85

  • She wasn't the only one who won $0 on Press Your Luck, the other four that I know who have won nothing are Eric from "One Bizarre Game" and Dorothy, Wayne, and Joe from "A No-Win Situation"

  • Did she end up winning anything on her next game?

  • she lost

  • Rod! Yes Peter? What'd she win? BUPKIS!

  • Great show.

  • man, i loved this show

  • "this is like mundo bizzaro!" that was the highlight for me-lol

  • The only difference is that Mabel is the only one who didn't whammy out.

  • I think she was the first to win with Zero dollars.

  • no, that was eric!

  • @biruss no there was a couple people that won $0 back in '83

  • ah, Warren & Miriam. I was thinking of that as a TIE, but i can see were you're coming from. Funny nobody who was a "lone" $0 winner won the next day!

  • Comment removed

  • Hahahaha! I love how $0 is blinking at the end

  • ummm..

  • is there a whole episode of this one

  • @Frankie2Jersey yes the whammy 83 uploaded it a while back

  • The winner with $0!

  • I wouldn't be hhappy at all! This girl would boo-hoo cry her eyes out.

  • You'd get a chance to come back and win some actual money.

That's nothing to cry about...that is, if you lose :P

  • He said she won "bupkis"! ^_^

  • Hillarious! Although I didn't quite understand what Rod said at the end. Could you please "transcribe" it? Thanx.

  • Bupkis is another word for zero.
